So I have been feeling a little burned out lately when it comes to photography so I decided to start looking deep for photography and photographers that inspired me and check out the gear they were using. This led me to realize I wanted to go back to shooting range finder style cameras! From there I became VERY interested in the FUJIFILM XPRO3!

The XPro 3 has me slowing down and thinking more when taking the shot. My work cameras are just screwdrivers and wrenches in the toolbox that come when a job is requested. The XPro 3 is my, “making a photo” camera. I have started to get more into fine art style photos with it and also street work. It has re-kindled my original love for photography.

I'm shooting with the Xpro3 aswell. I bought it three years ago. It's the only camera I use for photography and I have never used a more fun camera to be honest. I love the looks, the build quality, the weathersealing. It motivates me to shoot in the streets and I also use it as a complete workhorse. Weddings, corporate shootings, whole shooting campaigns - it all works and the clients are always very happy with the results. A nice bonus is, that you get lots of compliments from people because the camera reminds them of an old analogue camera. It opens up a lot of nice talks with people and this enables a very nice shooting ambience with clients I think. Can't wait for the next iteration of the Xpro!

That's awesome to hear, as I have been shooting SONY mirrorless the last few years and I am looking to possibly move completely over to FUJI soon ......at least for photography, I really think the X-PRO 3 is fantastic so far and you are completely right about it being a conversation piece, people aren't sure what I am shooting with or what year it came out haha. The unique look and hidden LCD was the first thing that made it stand out to me and the performance it has is what has made me fall in love with it.

I had an X-Pro2, but sold it and moved to a Canon R6. Takes great images, but it's chunky for EDC and not a lot of fun. The reason I didn't go for a Pro3 was not that LCD, it's because of that fiddly Shutter Speed/ISO combo dial. On my Pro2 I found it difficult to adjust ISO on the fly and there was no workaround like the X-100 offers. Three years on I learn that Fuji did add in the option to control ISO with the front command dial, but not one reviewer mentioned it because they were so fixated on that LCD. Now I'm on the hunt for a Pro3, which is proving difficult because it's been discontinued and there is no word on when (or if) there will be a Pro4.

HAHA I feel you with the G.A.S. I went to a local camera store to try out an x100v and XE4 as an every-day carry option. However, I just didn't like the way they felt in hand. There were a few older X-Pro models sitting on the shelf and as soon as picked one up I knew I had to have one. Found a used X-Pro3 in dura black with only 800 shutter actuations for an insane $1200 and, despite also having an XH2, it's still the camera I grab when I just want to have fun. There is just some magic there that is hard to explain. I have an old XF 35mm f/1.4 that pretty much lives on that camera body. I've also gotten into 35mm film lately which has just made me appreciate the process of using the X-Pro3 even more. Sure, I miss the LCD from time to time, but I have other cameras that I can use in that case. As it stands, I don't regret buying the X-Pro3. The images I get out of it are some of my favorites that I have taken, and it is an incredibly capable camera. There is an old saying that goes, "the best camera is the one you have on you." I don't think that is true, though. I think it's more along the lines of, "the best camera is the one that inspires you to take photos." For me, the X-Pro3 is the best camera.
@Drewxcifer
@Drewxcifer Жыл бұрын
I couldn’t agree more, when buying the X-Pro3 I knew it would be a photography 1st camera for me and that was one of its selling points. I have other cameras for videos some of which are video only and I think sometimes it’s great to get a camera with everything built in but I also believe it’s ok to use a hammer as a hammer and a screwdriver as a screwdriver, if that makes sense. Sometimes I want to be limited in what a pice of gear can do, for me that’s when my creativity thrives. Also you found an amazing deal on your X-Pro 3, great job there!

Don't worry dude. I'm a huge huge Fuji fan and I bough this camera a couple of weeks ago too. It was also love at first sight. I just loved the appearance of the camera, i.e., small, discreet and simply beautiful. But I learned to concentrate on my photography instead of the technical side of the camera. This camera is a game changer. You learn to love it more with time. I use the black anchor links from peak design on the black body though. The only thing that I miss on this camera is IBIS. I like using vintage lenses and it can be very helpful to have IBIS.

The x-70 is a camera I’ve always wanted to try out, I love the small and compactness of it. It’s crazy how as photographers we go through cycles of thinking we need the latest gear with all the bells and whistles. And oftentimes that leads us to a bigger means better mentality when it comes to purchasing a camera, the bigger the lens the more pro we think we look,the bigger the camera body the more serious we think people will take us. I think whether the photographer is shooting good photos or not that generally comes from a place of insecurity. I think as photographers become more confident in their work they will shoot with anything at any price point and not worry about it!

Buddy, do not worry. I bought a Leica M10 in 2023 when the camera was launched in 2017. I think ultimately is buy what you need and what you enjoy. I really enjoy the rangefinders from the older M series and do not enjoy large photos where it clogs up my computer space quickly. Do not see the need to pay brand new for M11 for something I do not utilize as of right now, hence the M10 with a better lens. Buy what you enjoy, shoot what you love.

I usually use Leica and Pentax cameras, but i was looking for something a little bit different to add to the collection. Saw the xpro 3 and had to know more about it. It was either the xpro 3 or the M10/11….the easy choice was the xpro 3. Never used a Fuji camera before or even saw one in person. Ordered it sight unseen and was pleasantly surprised! Like you said about reigniting the fun and fire for photography, this camera has done it for me. I was surprised to find out the day after I bought it that Fuji discontinued it. My only gripe is that (I don’t blame Fuji because every company is now guilty of it) the photos are SHARP, but almost too sharp. Older digital cameras and lenses still had some softness, enough to make them realistic, but everything now is so focused on how overly sharp photos can be created. No character, no feeling or blemishes, errors and mistakes, etc in the actual photos. With all of that said, the xpro 3 is a lot of fun an enjoyable regardless of this current sharpness war trend!
@Drewxcifer
@Drewxcifer Жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you about oversharpening in photography and cameras sometime making the photos so tack sharp that the image isn’t enjoyable to look at, it doesn’t mimic real life. Most ca,eras allow you to adjust the sharpness to a certain degree but not other parameters that go along with it, that’s why FUJIFILM is rad because you can adjust so MANY parameters in camera to get the image exactly how you like it! Also I was at first annoyed about Fuji discontinuing the x-pro 3 however it makes it a more unique and special camera for me when not everyone has one.Mine is the 1st one I have seen out in public and I am the 1st one to use an X-PRO3 out of all of my photography friends.
@Deetroiter
@Deetroiter Жыл бұрын
@@Drewxcifer you said the words much better than I could! I was really surprised and happy to see with FUJIFILM how much a user could actually tweak settings to get the look they’re going for. My Leica and Pentax don’t give anywhere near that amount of control at all. One thing I forgot to add in that I really like so far about the FUJIFILM cameras is that how affordable the lenses are. It’s still a lot of money, don’t get me wrong, but for the price and the features you get on them it’s really difficult to beat. My current go to on the xpro 3 is the 23mm f2 R WR and for $449 new I’m honestly surprised how they can sell it at that price. Do you have any suggestions for Fuji lenses with some character that fit well on the xpro 3?
@Drewxcifer
@Drewxcifer Жыл бұрын
@@Deetroiter that’s another good thing about the brand, because with most other camera brands to get affordable lenses you have to go third party. I really enjoy shooting prime lenses and I like wide angle lenses, so the lens that has been living on my X-PRO-3 is the 18mm F2 which can be bought used for under $400. I also lie, the 23mm f2 that you have as well as the 35mm f2 and a good zoom I’d recommend is the 16-80mm f4! I will make a video on all of this lenses eventually, I really love reviewing lenses.

If you like a ‘less sharp’ image, have a look at second-hand Fuji cameras with an X-Trans II sensor. I have an XE2S and it produces beautiful colours in what for me is the closest look to colour film. It also feels great in the hand and has built-in flash, so it makes a great EDC with the 27mm pancake lens. Check out Chris Orange, who is an enthusiast for the older Fuji sensors/cameras.

It’s my go to camera for personal use that I take with me everywhere I go be walking or travelling as the size is so discrete in comparison to the other bodies that I own. I use to shoot Sony Mirrorless for photography and my Sony always gave me great images but the camera wasn’t fun and it lacked character, and I always wanted to put bigger lenses on it and it became cumbersome to carry as an EDC. I still use it for video purposes BUT. My Xpro 3 has replaced it entirely for photography and I am having a blast shooting photos again because honestly when EVERY photo comes out as a “banger” so easily, photography gets boring and clinical. To me FUJIFILM made me have fun with photography again and thats worth every penny I spent. I keep an 18mm 2.8 on it and that ALL I need and the small form factor its a TRUE EDC!

I’m probably gonna replace my micro four thirds kit with an Xpro 3 and a few primes. My Leica M10 made me hate zoom lenses. And I’m trying to fix my GAS so I’m doing so much research on different cameras to see which one can be my one main camera and my Leica for more please/leisure shooting. The Xpro 3 checks a lot of things I’m wanting. Especially the rangefinder style body and ability to have an OVF. 26MP is more than enough for me and I’m sure the image quality and dynamic range will be enough. I don’t care that the Xpro 3 is 3 years old, I’m sure it’s a joy to use and that’s another big thing I look for in a camera. The camera needs to be a joy to use. So I’m gonna rent one after my Leica SL sells and hopefully it’s all I want in a camera that will satisfy my wants and needs in a everyday and semi professional camera.

No issues so far, also I don’t use the screen on this camera so no big deal when/if it does fail. And if it takes a few years to fail, I’ll have found a new edc camera by then anyway.

Great Vid! Love the style and shooting experience with my Pro3 combined with 35 1.5. Super lovely images. Not perfect but way more than what i need. Btw, after a year my camera has developed a shutter button problem. Doesn't take the shot evry time on full depress. anyone else have the same problem?

Thanks,glad you are still enjoying the pro-3, I think I will definitely be picking up a 35mm lens in the near future, thats a great focal length for this body. I hate that you have a shuttle r button problem, I have seen a lot of people getting sub monitor issues because of their constant opening and closing of the main lcd screen, I’ve decided to use my main lcd as little as possible to circumvent that problem.

Hi,,good video, i choosing buy a camera for street and some portraits,,, i am between fuji xpro3 or 2,,, fuji xe4 or panasonic gx9? wich you consider to have the best image quality and material buits? Thanks!
@Drewxcifer
@Drewxcifer Жыл бұрын
That all depends on your budget, I prefer the pro 3 over those other cameraS BUT if you can find the xe-4 between 1200-1300 bucks I’d pick that one up with a solid prime lens.

@@ciudadanosdelcosmos no problem, I like prime lenses so I like the 18mm f2 and the 27mm 2.8 WR . The 10-24 is also a good option although slightly bigger than the previous two. I prefer a small or pancake lenses for easy every day carry.

@@Drewxcifer i expressed bad,,sorry,,english is not my native language,i mean a lenses zoom 16-70 or something like that.... In the other hand like sony a6600(with tamron 17-70mm) like it but has horrible lcd screen resolution and poor viewfinder res. too...and sony a7c overheating issue,,,hard choice, i like a alot fx 30 but having only electronic viewfinder is a deal breaker for me.....

@@ciudadanosdelcosmos don’t apologize your English is great, there is a 16-80mm f4 lens that is great and it’s a perfect carry everywhere lens.
