Thank you for your words of Wisdom Kimi, As a white male i will never know what it is like to be Black or any other race in America so I always try to keep an open mind to others and their Cultures and learn. But I have no white guilt, i can not change who or what i was born into this world but Choose to treat others as i would expect to be treated and demand it for all. As someone who works with the public on a daily basis I deal with all races and all kinds. Through my experience 97% of my customers are cool and really good people. It's the 3% of those entitled buttheads that make my job hell. The media tells one story while I see another story play out in front of my eyes. It is always yes sir, no sir, yes ma'am and no ma'am, thank you and your welcome. People appreciate goodness and gratitude. I believe the only racism we deal with is that of what we create. Love each other as your brother, sister, mother or father and get over the small things. Someone who judges upon race is a small simple minded person so why worry about their opinions?

"Telling someone that they're weak only makes them more stuck in their position. Telling someone that they're just oppressed and that's just a permanent state of flux and tension forever is gonna make someone hopeless and give up on any struggle of any sort." Exactly! I guess that's why wokism never really appealed to me... because I find nothing admirable about people who are wearing their victimhood like a badge of honor! It just gives others an excuse to be lazy when ideologues tell them that "the world will always be stacked against you" because of all these -isms and -phobias. These perpetual victims just make others stop trying and discover their true potential, because they need company in their misery and incompetence.

It's been a hellish 5 years, to hear black leadership in America talking about how "oppressed" we are. @@olliemck60 CRT and "anti-racism" are making this world a better place...? In literally what way? Stoking the fires of division in a country that's already aggressively politicized? Teaching white children that they're privileged and should think about how their existence "oppresses" black people? Teaching black kids that nothing in life is their fault and they should never bother trying to succeed since the whole world is stacked against them? Elevating or silencing people's voices based on their arbitrarily perceived level of "oppression"? Enforcing hiring and enrollment policies that literally discriminate against certain groups in order to meet an arbitrary quota of "inclusion"? Encouraging white people to view minority hires with skepticism because they can literally get a job with minimal qualifications if the company has a skin color quota to meet? Encouraging mediocrity in minority groups by essentially telling them "don't try you poor baby, the world hates you, but also you can get into esteemed schools and careers if the company is woke enough"? Inciting self-doubt in hard-working minority employees and students who are more likely to be seen as unqualified by their skeptical white peers - and left wondering if that skepticism is valid, and they didn't earn their position but were given it because they were the right color? Encouraging the election of such fantastic and inspiring national leaders as Kamala Harris, whose literal only qualifications were "is wahmen" and "is not white"? Also, this comment was made 9 months ago, so if "Pollyana" is a reference to something in the video, I don't remember. So you kind of just sound off your rocker in this random notif I got about CRT and Pollyana.
@olliemck60
@olliemck60 2 жыл бұрын
@@drawingdragon CRT is responsible for the successful remediation of every case of implicit bias in the last 40 years; and will be the force that drives systemic racism out of our institutions. By the way, it is not taught in K-12. Anti-racism energizes people to not accept the perpetual compromises with racism that have been made in this country for over 400 years. And will drive explicit and implicit bias out of our culture. Including the bias that affirmative action candidates are not qualified. And Pollyanna refers to her love and forgiveness attitude that ignores repentance. And lastly, she is clueless about CRT, which she hypocritically claims to hate while claiming not to hate things.
@drawingdragon
@drawingdragon 2 жыл бұрын
@@olliemck60 Just saying "CRT remedies racism" doesn't prove anything. Do you have any examples? Any racist laws or institutions that have been overturned within the last few years because of wackjobs like Ibrim Kendi? Or are you one of those people who like to pretend that stupid wars like canceling Aunt Jemima and removing the heritage and income of an entire black family tree is somehow "fixing" racism? By the way, when people say CRT is taught in K-12, we aren't referring to a curriculum called "CRT 101". If you think that, you haven't paid any attention whatsoever to your opposition. The concepts and tenets of CRT (and other branches of critical theory, such as critical gender theory) are pushed by teachers IN classes like history and economics. "Privilege walk" activities, "check your privilege" essays, banning school holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving because they're "too colonial", affirmative action practices that attempt to "remedy" past injustice by rejecting white and Asian students based on their race and the fact that the school has "too many", "blackout" days where white students aren't allowed to come to school (granted that one example was a college), and even fringe idiotic cases like a class "congratulating" two black students for - wait for it - being black, are all playing by the CRT rulebook. CRT isn't a curriculum, it's a path of logic that suggests every system in human history is unjust because every system in human history is made up of oppressors and oppressed. "It will drive implicit bias out of our culture." No it won't. Implicit bias by definition is implicit. You can no more drive "rude thoughts" out of humanity than you can "implicit bias". "Including the bias that affirmative action candidates are less qualified." Bruh. The only reason affirmative action exists the way it does now is because of "anti racist" policies. "Anti-racism" caused the problem, but give it enough time and it will fix it! And btw, yes, many affirmative action candidates are not qualified. That isn't a sting against them or their race, it's a heavy criticism of stupid policies that put skin color over qualification, and accidentally incite more racism along the way.

@@olliemck60 CRT is bankrupt. It has no value to people who are not fooled by dogmatic hypocrisy. It divides people who were not divided before. It is useless to society as a whole. The only viable use I could think of would be in an environment such as past atrocities, (Slavery, Nazi Germany, etc.). But that's not what we have in the here and now. Only racist people believe that is happening in the here and now. And so they project it onto others. That's what's wrong with CRT at it's core.

@@shawnlorenzana2359 I appreciate your response, it is exactly what I needed for a class discussion on implicit bias and pathology, especially the parts where you believe that: 1. CRT, not racism and bias divides people who were not divided before, (very curious to know who or what those people are), 2. Only racist people believe that slavery, nazism, etc are impacting millions of people today (regardless of the un-countless number of studies confirming the continuing catastrophic damage being done), and 3. CRT identified cases of bias and systemic racism (confirmed by court decisions, institutional policy recissions) are really only projected racism from CRT adherents. Again, very interesting response, I suspect it will take several sections to analyze the pathology you exhibited. I appreciate the input. Well said Kimi! And I also believe in the power and beauty of forgiveness. It really is a force to be reckoned with, so transformative and healing and you can not defeat hate with hate. Many years ago my daughter, who was then 5 years old, had a nightmare in which she was surrounded by monsters. She said she tried to shoot them with guns and bows and arrows but they just got madder and scarier. Then she said she felt a "fizzing" in her chest and her heart started spinning. Next moment balls of sparkling pink light shot out from her heart and hit the monsters, turning them into flowers. I'll never foget her own interpretation of the dream. "you cant kill monsters mummy but they change into something beautiful when you love them." Kimi, i think you should be touring schools, speaking your wise words.

I can not jump on the newest bandwagon. I stand with you and others like you to empower everyone to feel respected rather than defeated and angry. For this, I was stalked last year by a black woman that called me a "covert racist" because I said her neighbors were just as frightened as she was because of the riots in her city. It’s not just being called racist, it’s people actually being racist and nasty towards you. Also violence which has gone up by a very large percent towards white and Asian, and it’s mostly not talked about in the media and basically tolerated. And the racism literally being taught in schools and large companies “critical race theory”. Very threatening! And no-it’s not revenge- if you aren’t racist. Because every race is history and culture has done good/bad. And the whole point of not being racist is seeing people as an individual, not as a soldier in an army of a “race”.

Wow Kimi! I just discovered you today (thanks algorithm!) and i'm in total A W E !!! I'm floored by your strong integrity and incredible eloquence. You're such a powerful force and what I probably badly needed to hear! There has always been something that wasn't sitting right on me in this long conversations about race that have exploded in the last year. I also had a hard time associating the good values of antiracism with the hatred, division and poison that I've constantly seen online under the guise of it. Much of the predicaments were against basic values, but every time I happened to confront some of the assumptions I found myself against a wall of homogenous thougths. Sometimes you end up doubting yourself, you wonder if there must be something wrong with you if you have so much difficulty assimilating to the mainstream. That's the power of peer pressure, I guess. And you know, there's also guilt associated to that (I'm white LOL), so you really start to doubt of yourself. Is so easy to be labelled as "racist" today, according to Kendi, you just have to disagree with his philosophy to be called that. Which is stupid, but also a powerful weapon of manipulation. Well, your videos are such a breath of fresh air, finally! Such a light in this claustrophobic atmosphere. I think discussions like yours are especially precious to elevate the possibilities for change and involve people in the same mission towards progress and liberation. Because, you know, I care about people and I can only hope and work towards a better world for everyone and I firmly believe that learning and teaching respect is the right way in that direction. To forgive the mistakes of others is, in my opinion, part of being an adult. Maturity is not just the age by which the laws of the land view an individual as an adult, it is a mindset. "These things, which i don't want to do, must be done so I, and those I love, may live another day and so I will do them, no matter the cost to myself" is my take on what it means to be an adult. To forgive another's mistakes is to forgo the right to vengeance. Too many people seem to want to cling to their anger and hate, to lash out. It seems to me that far to many people use the idea of victimhood as an excuse to not be held accountable for their own actions, or their own inaction. "X bad thing happened to me, thus I am not responsible for my actions here"

I am a teacher in Portland OR and I am afraid of losing my job if I speak against CRT too strongly. People here seem to equate CRT and ant-racist with being a moral person. If you think differently you are immoral and not worthy of a job and I would be seen as a threat to the children I teach. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I Recognize that my black students have a different experience than my white students. I recognize the school to prison pipeline and I recognize that there are areas of ignorance I may have as a white teacher teaching children of other races. but I love all my students. I want them to show love to each other. To be kind and and to assume good intentions when there is a misunderstanding. CRT creates division and teaches my students to assume the worst in each other.
