Kagiribi 12 happened this past weekend in Japan, and oh boy was it a tournament you did NOT want to miss. Not only did some of the best Japanese and International players attend, we saw some insane performances from names you may have not heard of. Here are my reactions and analysis of sets featuring MkLeo, Snow, Acola, Hurt, Zackray, Miya, and more!

Leo was playing so well against Snow for the majority of the set, and then he started panicking against the threat of Mario cheese that he let it be him. He is our modern day Shakespearean tragedy

Imagine someone never seeing smash prior and the first time and you see all the crazy shit with Bayo and pit fighting offstage into the blast zones. Then you see Snake vs G&W… Game is a thing of beauty tbh. I have no idea how the balancing has held up as long as it has.

2:02 don't believe he could have di'd the throw its self (too low %), but the 2nd up air seemed to be di out, as well as the foward air.

11:44 What the Up air here does is that it lets Bayo keep her momentum in the air to be able to recover. All of Bayo’s aerials help her momentum in some way and it’s why Bayo mains always do seemingly random up airs, or nairs, or even fairs while recovering, otherwise if you don’t, her aerial momentum becomes nonexistent and she drops like a rock.

@@leifpeterson4850his % was too low to DI anything besides the last u-air (and f-air). You can tell because he wasn't in tumble and there was no smoke, and you can only DI (or SDI) when those things happen That said though, DI out on that last u-air is absolutely insane behavior

If sponsors in Japan were better and they could compete overseas more often the top 10 rank at the end of the year would be full of japanese players.

Mario sorta destroys Roy though. Roy just has a hard time against grapplers/ brawlers. If only Leo knew

Is it just a situation where they get more of what they want than Roy does? Because for instance Mario has to interact with Roy, but Roy also has to interact with Mario?

@@stephendonovan9084 that’s exactly it. My practice partner plays mario and I play Roy so Ive got 100+ hours in the matchup. It’s not unwinnable but very difficult. Mario combos Roy very easy and Roy doesn’t have anything special to escape combos.

All the disappointment frustration and bullying is because NA was not ready to realize that Japan players at this moment are the best in the world. Some of the strongest ones were competing but it wasn't enough, it's not fair to bullying them as they did the sacrifice of journey all the way to Japan not for money but for the glory. The only way that our strongest NA players can get better is supporting them, so it could be a next time, and then a next time, and then another till, the crown comes back to America.

lets not also pretend like it isnt easier for japanese players to get better tho. they're all literally in one location. america is 50 states. hard to practice against the best when you gotta constantly travel, where as they are aaall in tokyo

@@ralphwiggum3463⁠⁠⁠⁠ コロナ前まではNAの方が強かったのは事実だから、地理的な問題はあまり関係ないと思う。日本のトッププレーヤー達はコロナでオフライン対戦ができない間、ずっとSmashmateで1日に何十戦もして研鑽を積んでたから強くなったと思う（しかも低遅延MOD無しで。かつ、コロナが終わった今でもSmashmateは毎晩盛り上がってる） NAもトッププレーヤー達がオンライン対戦に協力的になれば、すぐに日本と同等のレベルか、追い抜くと思う。あくまで個人の感想だし、次の大会がどうなるか分からないけど。
