Pres Marcos Sr was a WW II war hero, a top notch lawyer, had gold investments before he entered politics, and a seasoned politician. Definitely, a strong leader, much needed in chaotic times that we experienced during the 60s &70s, Being a lawyer, he followed Phil constitution, consulted the judiciary, Congress/legislature that approved his proclamation of martial law, and other sectoral groups. The only misgiving was it took long to remove martial law, that ended in a few years prior to the 1986 yellow/ edsa uprising.

After Ferdinand Marcos, the PH never had a great president in so many decades until President Duterte. Just like FEM, there were a lot of backlash and negative comments about Digons's leadership style and foul language which most of the time taken out of context. His style and manners might be unorthodox but no one can deny that he has done a lot to make the country rise up again even amidst global pandemic.

The anarchy what Marcos is saying is that there were a lot of street demonstrations, bombings and Communist Party of the Philippines with the New Peoples Army wanted to overthrow the duly constituted government. Martial law is embodied in the Philippine Constitution which is to protect the state and the people due to anarchy. That really happened and I'm a living witness and high school student at that time 1972.

Ferdinand Edralin Marcos was so smart, he passed his Bar Ezam when he was in jail and he was one of the Lead on that time. Opposition was so jealous of him. He was the first President that built buildings for the poor people to live, schools, hospitals and some businesses. He fixed the roads and built bridges. He was rich then that he could share some of his Blessings. That’s the reason people envied him so much. So they wanted him so with his family to exiled in the country, instead of going back to his Hometown, they brought them them to Guam then to Hawaii. And that’s the time opposition’s Creates any Bad allegations about the Marcoses, Saying that he’s a Dictator, Stealers and everything that they could say bad things about him.He wanted to come back to clear all those allegations, but they wouldn’t let him. yes, there was anarchy: criminals were rampant (rape, kidnapping, robbery, murder, illegal drugs); terrorists and secessionists were at all time high ... for the record, i was in second year highschool when martial law was declared (i am 64 now) and people started to behave accordingly ... but when i studied at UP Diliman, i participated in some subversive activities, thank god i did graduate from the same university without any hassle ... during martial law, metro manila was peaceful, bright, clean and the people were disciplined ... also, Ferdinand Marcos Sr. built the Phil Heart Center, Lung Center, Kidney Center, Ospital ng Bagong Lipunan, Lungsod ng Kabataan and miles and miles of roads and bridges and other infrastructure for that matter, the LRT/MRT was his brainchild ... btw, people or the subscribers of the utilities, i.e., MERALCO, MWSS & PLDT were shareholders automatically and receives monthly dividends (i shud know this fact since it was my task to pay the bills and i used to pay the bills with the dividends we earned) ... since 1986, NO INFRASTRUCTURE WERE BUILT, the assets of the state were sold and some were given to the cronies of Cory Aquino while the Aquinos and their cronies concocted their narratives thru the media owned by the Aquino's cronies,; the Aquinos and their cronies brainwashed the people and made sure to inculcate their narratives ... ergo, the 1986 rebellion hurled the country back into the dark ages

Martial Law was the best that ever happened in the Philippines. I was in High School then through my college days. Did you know that their was no Drug users, no guns and deadly weapons on the streets during martial law. President Marcos Sr. was a top notcher in the Bar Exam. He was a brilliant lawyer. The best President. The only people who did not like martial law are the communist party, activist and the goons. Under martial law, as a student we do our normal routines, go to school, go to the parks, do jogging and do our favorite sports. People are well behaved, well groomed and disciplined. Abundance of food supply, medicines and medical services was well served. The government of the Philippines have problems too with MNLF of Nur Missuari and other rebel factions in Mindanao. I will ask you Sir, if you are the President of the Philippines how will you handle the bombings and civil unrest by the group of activist. In the country side of 7,640 island, armed rebels set on fire business properties, collects taxes and kills. Plus the occurrences of bombings by the MNLF, MILF rebels in Mindanao.

The reason why he needs to elaborate the fact that he is not the only one who passed the martial law is because in the Philippines, the one who is leading is the only one being blamed. Which is really not good act of finding justice... Martial was imposed was because the communist party is trying to exist in the Philippine government and the New People's Army (NPA) plus the leader of military are trying to take over the government in which makes the sovereignty at risk and can lead to crisis. He was a good President I assure you of that, I was born in 1951, though I lived in the US in the 70's I was home in the late 70's, and witness how peaceful during those times, Manila was clean, no beggars on the street and no pickpocketers/snatchers and you can walk on any street at night without being scared to be knobbed. Universities were all over the place and lots of International students came to study in the Philippines during those times, We were second to Japan in economy but when the Aquinos took over Philippines became one of the poorest country in Asia. I had to go overseas to work because salary was so low in the late 80's, that's why a lot of professionals left home to work abroad. And once again Pres. From what I can recall there were separatist movements/rebels in Mindanao and then the CPP-NPA in Visayas and Luzon. That's what he meant by anarchy. The CPP-NPA wanted control of the government. These are the parts of history that should be studied more. Some would even say that Ninoy Aquino is not the "hero" that the pro LP/Yellows made him out to be and allegedly he was aligned with the communists. I really hope an independent-non partisan studies/research can be done to uncover those important part of our history.

I was around and I could pretty well remember the importance of martial law. It was for the betterment of our country. Life in the Marcos regime was way much better. FEM was the best president we ever had. I grew up in the Visayas region where CPP NPA were camping on the mountains and destroying lives, where you see your neighbours today then you won't see them next day because they were killed and their livelihood sequestered. Martial Law was the only option then. We are optimistic with BBM now the Filipinos will unite for a better future of the young generation. After FEM, there was no president ever surpassed or even near to his achievements.

He needs to explain that declaring martial law was in accordance with our constitution ..,and it has to be concurred with by Congress and the Supreme Court , the three branchesof our government ,,, at the time of the declaration we were facing social unrest, Muslim Cessationists and like the rest of Asia, Communist insurgency. It was the Liberal Party (but mostly Ninoy) who are responsible becausevthey want to take over the government...You cannot understand what happened by just listening to one speech .. Again, you have to study the confluence of events that led to the declaration of ML.Afterwards the same people who destabalized the government were saying President Marvos declared ML to prolong his stay in power and all sorts of propaganda ...Even if he lifted ML the destabilizers never stopped which led to the 1986 People Power Revolution .The then revolutionary govt (dictatiotship) of Cory Aquino assumed all functions of government ( executive, legislative and Judicial) she changed the constitution and freed from prison the founder and members of the Communist Party of the Philippines who had been waging an armed struggle against the government for the last 50 or so years beginning in the 70’s . PFEM never appropiated all powers unto himself like Cory did even during ML . Some facts : President Marcos has always won the presidency by majority decision ...he was voted by the people in legitimate elections...he was not just a good president , in my opinion , he was the best our country ever had . On the other hand Ninoy Aquino’s father was a known and convicted “Makapili” (Japanese corroborator) and his son,Ninoy was convicted for subversion by a military tribunal and was sentenced to die by firing squad before President Marcos allowed him to leave the country to seek medical attention for his failing heart .Ninoy like his father before him was a traitor . He even betrayed his own political party (Liberal Party ) by conniving with JoMa. Sison (leader of communist party) in bombing the miting de avanse of the Liberal Party in Plaza Miranda where he as a party member running for senator was conspicuously absent. By the way I was born in 1963 , have voted in 6 presidential elections and lived under 7 presidents ( now under the 8th) ..starting with PFEM .

Martial Law was declared to preserve democracy no matter how undemocratic it may be. It has to abide with the constitutional conditions and provisions which requires the approval of the congress. Were years 1983 to 1986 could be considered as Golden Years of Marcos Regime. That was few years before Marcos Sr. was toppled. And the economy of our country then would define how effective Marcos was in leading our country. The General Knowledge of why Marcos declared Martial Law was that during the 70s, there was a huge problem with communism. I can confirm this with several kids worldwide in debates talk about it specifically the ones from southeast Asia. Joma Sison founded Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and has been wrecking havoc since to bring the government down and install communism. I can see videos of bombings and a wedding of one of Marcos family where someone attempted to take her life. In fact, my uncle talked about his friend getting used as a pawn by the CPP which also ended his (the friend's) life. All of the old people I know confirms the bombings and the existence of the CPP. The events narrated by the pro Marcoses are much more convincing than the antis however, a question still stands. I didnt hear much of the CPP after Marcos and before Duterte. And CPP could have easily taken over when the president was weak (Cory). So it's possible it could all be propaganda. However, Marcos succeeded in throwing Sison to jail but Cory released him so it's possible he did not attack out of gratitude.

I wasn't alive during that time (martial law), but my curiosity led me to do some research back then asking my grand parents on what happened. the opposition he was saying were the oligarchs, these are the business men on top of the business industries, and to control the industries they needed the power, which is why they were taking the position from Marcos. The oligarchs already had power over some of the military and other sectors (even non government) who were causing distress and trouble in different parts of the country, hence martial law was proclaimed. was it necessary? I really don't know, but all elders would say yes it was.

If Juan Ponce Enrile is telling the truth, it was a full blown betrayel against Marcos, in terms of using his people against him.That, in turn, resulted with him voluntarily stepping down when he had the chance to go full assault against the rebels who are attacking him, his family and his Administration.
