After playing a few JRPG inspired games for a couple of months like Sea of Stars and Chained Echoes. I finally got a taste of that OG Classic JRPG vibe you can experience back on the Playstation 1. All I can say is that Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a game worth sinking tens of hours into. It may not be for everyone but it’s going to be one of my top 10 games of 2024.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a JRPG released on April 23, 2024 for the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox and the PC. The game is published by 505 Games who brought us classics like Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Terraria, and Cooking Mama. The game was helmed by Konami Veteran and the creator of the legendary JRPG series Suikoden. Yoshitaka Murayama, created Rabbit & Bear Studios with a goal that creators get to keep the intellectual property rights to games they create. This would allow creators to have greater communication between the developers and their fanbase. The studio also comprised industry veterans such as Junichi Murakami who worked on the Castlevania series and directed Castlevania: Aria of Sorrows. Osamu Komuta who worked on Silent Hill 2, wrote on Suikoden IV and directed Suikoden Tactics and Suikoden Tierkreis, lastly Junko Kawano who was the lead designer for Suikoden and wrote, produced and designed for both Suikoden IV and Tactics. This powerhouse roster of gaming legends launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the creation of Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes and met its minimum goal of $509,713 in just TWO hours. They also added multiple stretch goals with the most notable one being the side-companion prequel game to Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising.

The plays are really fun. I cast Nowa as Romeo and Seign as Juliet and got an S rank.

I did hear that Nowa and Seign do net an S rank for the Romeo and Juliet. Congrats on the S. There's so many combinations you can do with that cast. Djikstra is a funny narrator by the way if you haven't tried that.

I just hit 46H with 76/120 recruited and having so much fun. The Castle building is practically a game to itself. With Suikoden remasters later this year its a good time to fall in love with the series all over again

Congrats on the 46 hours. I spent a lot of time in the castle building. Absolutely fun. Plus seeing your recruits/teammates being happy they got their specific buildings is just heartwarming.

when I first heard about this game like 4 years ago i was stoked because I loved the Suikoden franchise and was hoping that this game did get released. I cannot wait until i can get the funds to purchase this game and play it.

This is an absolute must try. If you have xbox gamepass you can play it there without having to buy it. Absolute banger game tbh

Man I've been waiting for this for years. I saw a bunch of people complaining about the localization though. Is it as bad as they say?

The game is great. Localization-wise I'd say it's not that bad. They just need to fix some text in a patch I suppose.

@@androidpaw thank you for this! I'll wait a bit until all the creases are ironed out. I know how badly I cringed at the Summon Night 5 fan translation. Every sentence was a meme. "I don't know where you're from, but you look like you want to fight. That much is certain" Translated as: "Giving daddy a headache and making him cranky is not a recipe for peaceful relations!" Changes the whole personality of an otherwise serious character.

@@XannolcZ I totally understand the sentiment. Sometimes changing dialogue really makes a difference. Hopefully they fix this ASAP. Hoping you enjoy your experience with Eiyuden when you do get it.

Just finished it. Its a fine game, only thing is the last part of the game is rushed. No voice acting, no music in some hype moments. Hoping we get a sequel like suikoden2 that improved everything from the first iteration.

Based on the subreddit some people experience bugs with the audio. The game just really needs some polishing to do but overall it is fun. Nowa as a recruitable char if you have a hundred heroes save file would be nice just like how they did with McDohl back in Suiko2

I also got the bug. Then I tried to reload the game and voila the voice is back.

Believe it or not. I like this game more than octopath travelers 2. The problem about woke translation don't bother me much bc I can understand JP for a certain level so I played it with JP voices.

I've gotta try Octopath Traveler 2. The first game was such a banger. Tbh the translation wasn't even that wild for Eiyuden. Also that's awesome being able to play it on JP dub. The voice acting on the JP dub is spectacular.
