I met him at the Talk of the South nightclub in Southend on Sea in 1972 - he was the nicest person I ever met. So polite and interested. Even today nobody has come close to his top twenty chart rundown. It just can't be bettered. God bless you Alan, a lovely bloke.

No one had the charm that Eamonn Andrews brought to this show and made it a smash hit in uk having originally been a US show format .....loved by millions later hosts didn't achieve the same charisma

I remember seeing this episode on Yorkshire Televison while staying with my grandparents. I couldn't remember who the subject was but recognised it from the date- 14/10/1987, the night before The Great Storm. I hadn't realised it was only a few weeks later when Eamonn Andrews sadly passed away.

This is great Fluff was a true gent and a legend. Interesting Eamonn Andrews is looking really unwell here. And his successor Michael Aspel is in the clip too. I miss him as a presenter and one of my earlier impressions going about saying 'This is your loife'

A fitting "This is your life" to another wonderful DJ, the late great Alan "Fluff" Freeman himself who as far as i am concerned was, still is and always will be a legend in my eyes, though obviously not to all the Alan "Fluff" Freeman haters out there who are labelling "Fluff" as some sort of a not so nice man (i won't mention the five or ten letter words that some are describing "Fluff" here on KZfaq and other social networks) all of a sudden these past few years or so to this present day. Stuff all the Alan Freeman detesters out there, for if he was this not so nice man, provide your evidence of "Fluff's" wrongdoing (none whatsoever). Exactly no proof whatsoever, as the late great "Fluff" is now dead and cannot defend himself from his grave from these so-called allegations (thankfully low level accusations at present) about the five or ten letter word which i will not address on here that is being used to describe "Fluff", so as to not offend my fellow Alan "Fluff" Freeman lovers (not in a morbid context) and his many still admirers out there, both past, present and future. And if he is this not so nice man, why is "Fluff" still being mentioned and broadcast on the BBC, and not totally erased forever ages ago by the organisation (the BBC) itself. R.I.P. Alan "Fluff" Freeman, total legend, and to me was, still is and always will be a (another) rock to me past, present and future, always !

Eamonn Andrews passed away 3 weeks after this broadcast

"And here tonight, that person you always hated and have been avoiding for 35 years.."

i know radio 2 but I thought perhaps Jimmy Young and Terry Wogan.could have been there.

Andrews died on 5 November 1987, so this was three weeks and 1 day before, so I guess there were two more (21 Oct, 28 Oct and 4 Nov) that were broadcast by Thames before he died. Ironic that Michael Aspel was on this one on basis of him taking over after Andrews' death.

The episode that was aired on the announcement of eanomn Andrews death. Was jimmy cricket the last one was Jill rosslington of crossroads. He recorded. Roger Scott died the following year of cancer and I finally got to see Richard Allison from capital radio and radio two.

Ah, another encounter between Michael Aspel and Jimmy Savile. Three times that I know of where they appeared together on This Is Your Life. Remember, Aspel publicly declared that he'd never met Savile.
