I got the same but with an RTX 3050 on sale at Wallyworld for $449 upgrade to 32 gig for $45, added 1 tb 2.5 ssd for $35

Hey there, can you guys check out the MSI Bravo 15/17 2023 version? (The new C7V / D7V ones) It is pretty cheap and has an RTX 4060 alongside the Ryzen 7 7735HS, is it a good budget gaming laptop (I saw it online for around 900~1000 USD)? What's the catch (if there's one)?

Literally any modern laptop can run Minecraft and CSGO. I'm not saying the laptop is bad, but showcase some more standard games. I'll guarantee it will struggle a tad bit more.

imo i would rather choose something better like lenovo ideapad gaming or acer aspire gaming. msi's budget lineup of gaming laptops especially the gf63 have thermal issues, poor build quality, performance cut and a design from 2018 that hasn't changed. i personally have a gf63 with the older 10th gen i5 and a GTX 1650 for a year now and ive repasted this laptop twice with arctic mx-6 and it always throttles under load.

A 2050 or 3050 are way better than laptops without a GPU, but having 8GB of RAM seems a bit low. That thing was using close to 5GB of RAM in idle?

Well Benchmarking CS2 & Minecraft is a little bit low.. I would expect some new titles or more demanding games. I assume the laptop (GPU) is to bad for these games and they did not wanted to share the footage. :D

That 4060 needs to go straight in the trash bin. Great if you want to play 30fps games at 1080p. You don't know what you're missing until you get a card capable of at least 100fps, it will feel like going from the Sega Genesis to the Playstation again

But honestly, I got a later gen dell workstation laptop (precision 7730) for only $510 that has an i5 8400h (it's decent enough for it's price imo), Quadro P3200 (between GTX 1060 ~ GTX 1070 in terms of performance), 16gb DRR4 2666mhz memory (2400mhz due to stupid dell limitations that needs 32gb for higher clk), 512gb M.2 SSD, FHD IPS display (avoid this if your main goal is gaming unless you'll be using an external monitor) and I think that it would perform better than this laptop in general. MSI GF6x series are known for having heat dissipation issues (I mean the inadequate one fan design says it all especially in GF63 series) so this would be an obvious reason why this i5-12450H won't be performing at it's full potential due to thermal throttling in general. In terms of GPU performance, the RTX 2050 is terribly let down by it's really small memory bus, but it's expected for a laptop at this price point. I don't even think that the high refresh rate display would be utilized well in anything else other than competitive shooter games like Val, CS2, R6S, OW2 and etc. In general, there are lots of selloffs in this MSI laptop. It's bad in terms of value for gaming enthusiasts. Avoid it.

How come you guys never install Optifine for Minecraft? I have an i78700k and a GTX 1060 6GB and have Optifine installed as well as shaders. You can customize more options with Optifine installed.

Good thing you can get the 3050 version on ebay for like 300-350 bucks. Save 20-50 dollars a paycheck and you'll be there in no time.

My work issued the 1650 version of this laptop to me because, as it turns out, an entry-level gaming laptop is a much better value for general office work than the professional series laptops put out by the likes of HP and Dell. Most of those cost over $600 with an i5, 8gb of RAM and no GPU. As an office workhorse, this thing is a thoroughbred. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I can play some Minecraft during my lunch break. I think this would be an excellent setup for the college student on a budget.
