12:40 Kind of makes sense from a economic standpoint People are better off in decentralised and small countries those ruling know better what you want and how to spend your money when they are in the same location as you

I'm just curious how you would explain the instability of war and corruption of Italian city states during the era then and the gradual collapse of the Holy Roman Empire? Both were significantly decentralized and I don't think you would argue the Italian city states were "large" countries. There's a reason that there's a historical trend towards regional hegemony (France, England, Spain, the European Union) in terms of both economic and military viability. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate anti-snowballing mechanics. But in explaining the successful expansion of OPM's the reality is that they are closer to other OPM's and generally don't have to endure peace treaty restrictions in returning to war. I don't think anyone would argue Granada is more optimal than Spain in EUIV?

@@AlHyckGaemsTAD thats what i meant from a economic stand point Its better for the people Politics however tends to centralise and grow (In my view it is even inherent due to the one sided relationship of government making the decisions to which you cannot say no, like you can but you need to be ready to defend yourself against Government goons enforcing it on you) The only thing really keeping a government in check is other governments and the "boiling point" of the people Because no matter how many divisions you have, an organisation cannot unbiasedly Investigate or keep it in check Also the power ratio of small/decentralised to huge power works like when you work alone or in a team Alone you are more efficient but a large group can tackle the larger things, but become more inefficient the larger they get due to communication and the allocations of resources getting harder (economic calculation problem Historicaly "great" leaders were good organisers (like Napoleon or Temujin) So when they were gone the realm usually stagnates or collapses In the end we all play the game for our own reasons I don't mind if its not that realistic when im imersed

@@AlHyckGaemsTAD ur... weird. U use niche words like you know what ur talking about abd u dont. Its cringe. You dont even know italian city states were the richest and most well of states in europe, people lived much better than in england or france, or any other european country. War and instability doesnt mean poor and low economy. In fact, what you call instability they called defience of feudalism.
