In this video we play a Japanese horror game "Ikai". This is a very pretty game with a very dark story. I really enjoyed playing this one! The puzzles were a bit hard sometimes but with the help of chat we managed to beat everything! I really hope you enjoy! Much love and see you during the streams :D

Their horror stems from angry spirits who were victims of unfortunate circumstances and cruelty inflicted from others. People who were raped, killed and other misdeeds done upon them. Its incredibly sad how much violence was inflicted to each other back then and still is today.

Just in case anyone is interested, the kanji in the combination lock puzzle are generally translated as fire, woods (or forest, grove), mountain and wind written in small seal script. These are all part of a very famous phrase in Japan, although in a different order, as Fūrinkazan (風林火山, "Wind, Forest, Fire, Mountain"). It is an abbreviated version of a battle standard of Takeda Shingen, a famous daimyo of the Sengoku period, that roughly translated to "as swift as wind, as gentle as forest, as fierce as fire, as unshakable as mountain". In turn, Takeda's standard was an abridged version of one of the most famous portions of 'The Art of War" by Chinese military philosopher Sun Tzu. The original reading as follows: Chapter 7, passage 17: "故其疾如風,其徐如林" Let your rapidity be that of the wind, your gentleness that of the forest. Chapter 7, passage 18: "侵掠如火,不動如山" In raiding and plundering be like fire, be immovable like a mountain.

As a note, tanuki are a real-world species that is also referred to as a "raccoon dog". There's a lot of animism in Japanese folklore, so anybody and anything can become supernatural. So "Kitsune" is just the word for fox, but can also refer to the foxes that somehow acquired supernatural powers or spirits that are referred to as foxes. Oh, there are definitely stairs in Japan. Though smaller road-side or forest shrines don't generally have them since they were built whereever someone felt something was significant and should be revered. Bigger shrines may or may not depending on terrain, but most of stairs leading up into the building.

Yeah I think the vocabulary you know definitely influences how you think. Even in one's own language, when you learn new vocabulary and it's meaning and implications, you start to conceptualize things differently. You're aware of things you might not have been otherwise. Different languages are born in different cultural and environmental contexts and what is important in those contexts influences the language. I think there is a feedback mechanism too.

As a Japanese person and a fan of yokai since I was little, this was a SUPER cool game to watch. The monologues were kind of peculiar, but I feel like that was because it’s supposed to be a translation, since it’s really hard to translate Japanese into English while keeping the same nuances and effects that the words are supposed to give. Otherwise though, the gameplay was great and I absolutely loved Insym’s playthrough of it; I had lots of fun watching Insym curiously exploring Japanese occult culture. Much love!! ❤️

Just saying, have you ever tried or seen "Project Zero"? I don't know if it has a different name in the East compared to the West, but it's the game where you play as an high school girl with a cursed camera that can capture and exorcise ghosts (and I believe an alternate title may be Camera Obscura, but I ain't sure). That's another pretty cool game inspired by Japanese urban legends, although not based that much per-se on the actual Japanese mythology and folklore. Still, pretty cool, if you don't know about it/you haven't played it you should definitely go and check it out! Edit: no, lmao, it wasn't Camera Obscura, although it is related to the game. The title in Japan should be simply "Zero" or if you're in the US you might also know it as Fatal Frame.

Japanese horror tends to be very atmospherically focusing heavily on sounds. Because you tend to not see often what is making those sounds - it triggers a sense of being hunted. Add the natural fear of the unknown and supernatural into thought; and it becomes hard to know what to do and how to react to most of these. You are hearing it, you are perceiving it, therefor it is real; which means it can hurt you. At least that tends to be what happens subconsciously, our fight or flight response.
@ryokiritani4187
@ryokiritani4187 2 жыл бұрын
@@nightdrivenen7909 japanese ghosts are also far more twisted and manifest than we're used to. People give them shit for the "long hair white dress girl" thing, but that's just the easiest for amateurs to pull off. Some of the shit the japanese can invent, particularly in manga where the only limitation is their talent, is genuinely scarring

To be honest, I found many more horror games with this time loop lore, some of them are still in charge of being a theory, others may seem to be a time loop in a different season (such as II; III; IV; etc.), then there will be characters to stop the time loop and set everything back to normal, and some are like the last example that I just said but the thing is they cannot really escape the time loop without realizing it..................... there are possibilities that they put it to the story of the next generation of the characters.............. and the rest idk I mean there can be more games referenced to the time loop lore.....................
