I really enjoy the little editing tricks and touches these videos have recently been having. Doesn’t take away from the essence of the show (the back and forth, banter, and interaction with you two) but adds a level of post production investment and commitment that I can appreciate and I find adds to the watching experience and enjoyment

I haven't hit the sour note in my bottle of Baker's. I've been very impressed with it and enjoy it a lot. I can't wait to try the JB 7.

Got my JB Black7 for $18.88 at Sams. Definite buy at that price. Oak, vanilla, caramel, nuts. Pretty good after opening and sitting a few days.

A suggestion if you want to redo this blind... drop the bakers. Add OGD Bonded, and Jim Single barrel.

I tried the Jim Beam 7 year yesterday. It is surprisingly good, especially for $20. I’d say it’s better than KC9!

I had a Bakers with age statement 8 years 2 months a few months back. I loved it, maybe because of the extra age. I will replace at some point, but looking for 8+ year again. I will be trying the Beam 7. Thanks good show as always!

I live abroad, and i can only get the old JB black (which I like. I find it simple and thin, but I enjoy the flavor, especially for the price). I will be back home in the states for the summer, and I really hope I can find the 7 year.

I have to tell you guys. I watched all of the videos recently where you discuss Jim Beam 7. So, even though I haven’t been a Beam fan in many years, I took a chance and bought a bottle. The first pour I had, I really thought you guys sold me a pig-in-a-poke. However, after giving it a few days to open up in the bottle, I will give credit where credit is due. Jim Beam has done an excellent job on this product!!

Bought this bottle last weekend. Came across this showdown, I thought what the heck and well didn't pop, unscrewed for a 1st tasting. Lol it's damn good!

I also was disappointed with the Baker’s. Funky note. Love the KC9. Total Wine has 1.75 for $42.99. Tough to beat.

Still haven't found beam 7 in my area but I'm excited to try it once it does show up here! I'm a huge fan of knob creek so if they're similar, even slightly better but quite a bit cheaper then I'm sure I'll love it.

It would have been interesting if you had the old black label in there as well. I am really curious how much difference there is between the old black label and the new 7 year

Almost picked up Bakers 7 yesterday and instead walked out with Beam 7 and KC 9 for roughly the same price. Hard to argue with that!

The only other newer bottle I have had at a value price I think might compete with it was the Issac Brothers Small Batch for right at 30ish tag. Cheers

I was at Jewel-Osco (far west suburban Chicago area) last night shopping with my wife for a party this weekend and I snuck over to the liquor aisle and was surprised to find the new JB Black 7 yr in both sizes. Even better, they had a sale sign up on the 750 ml size for $19.99. The sale date on the sign ended last week, but the cashier honored the price on the two bottles in my cart because it rang up higher. But she gave me a credit to reflect that $19.99 price. Score!

Nice matchup! I have found that when I have Baker’s 7 it’s pretty nice but a small sip of Booker’s makes the B7 so much nicer? Strange but it always happens.

It changes the second time because you have caught a lil bit of a buzz. Blinds are best done not sober. You have that bell curve for tasting pregaming a little will give you a tolerance to the ethanol and a better judgment of taste. Lil water in between doesn’t hurt either

I picked up a JB 7 this week. 1.75L for $36. Extremely impressed so far. Really nice oak and vanilla flavor. Very smooth and drinkable. It's definitely punching way above its weight. New budget king? 👑

Just added the top 3 to my "gotta get some" list. Have had the Knob Creek 9, lovely stuff. Haven't had a Knob Creek I didn't like. Quality stuff.

Hoping that Jim Beam 7 makes it's way up here so I can try it for myself. So far of the 4 just Bakers 7 and Knob Creek are available up here.

Cant find the jb7 in my area but horse soldier bourbon has a sweetness to the end. Makers french oaked has a sweetness and some mild oak but quite a bit of caramel.

I'm shocked at the 4th place. That's one of my favorites. And that's what makes blinds fun.

I would like to have seen the Jim Beam Black Extra Aged in there as well to see how different it is. I liked the 8 year and Extra Aged, Always thought it was a good value bottle. Have not tried the 7 year yet. Will when I see it.

My scoring system for blinds 1-10, 1 is given to the best of the blind then I compare everything else to the favorite. 5 is the mid point - good/neutral. anything down around 7-8 is bad. 9-10 is basically drain pour.

I really want to try the new Beam, but the closest store that currently has it is an hour away.

As a Beam apologist, I gotta find some. Thanks for making B7 last. Keep folks away from my favorite. I always keep a lot on hand.

I love Bakers 7. Sam’s club has an almost 9 year version for only 40 bucks. Pretty tasty bourbon with a near 9 year age statement at a killer deal. I like those funky smelling/tasting bourbons

I bought a bottle a week ago at Kroger. There was a coupon with it and I walked out the door with it for less than $19. It is really good.

I second your opinion on the Bakers. I DO have an old Bakers in the wine bottle that I havent opened yet, but the new bottle had some odd funkiness to it and turned me off. Speaking of deals, about 3 places (FW, Indy) I recently visited in Indiana had KC9 for $18........I just dont know how you get a better deal than that! Thanks for the review, you guys are one of my "go to" channels for an honest opinion. If I hit the stores right, I can get your top 3 choices for well under $100....a rare achievement these days! Blinds can be fun, I recently did one for my friends that was 3 bottles we didn't like (Willet Pot Still, Rowan's Creek and Weller 107) and 2 we love (EHT Weller 12) and while the Weller 12 won, no one rated any of them very highly. Rowan's Creek actually lost to the Willet Pot Still which I was sure would have bottomed out.

Might be too complicated, but if you did want to do a double (ish) blind without the Mrs., Kurt could pour the 4 bottles into mason jars and label them 1-4 (writing down what's in each mason jar). Trenton would then pour the 4 mason jars into the 4 glasses and write down what number is in each glass "Jar 1 into glass B, Jar 2 into glass 4" etc. So kurt would know the bottles, but not what's in the glass. Regardless, really enjoying your content recently. Nice to see it stay, "just for fun" even if there is some money to be made.

I was able to finally find a bottle of Jim Beam 7 today along with Old Grand Dad 114 so I had to grab both.

Years ago, Jim Beam Black was labeled as 8-YO. My recollection is that it was much better than the current JB Black. Maybe it was, or maybe my palate was just less mature. Either way, I'm glad they came out with something that's palatable as well as economical.

I am starting in whiskey so one time I buy a lower priced bottle, then next time I buy something on the secondary market(which sucks but I work for a living and don't have time to chase bottles like the assholes that sell them to me). I am finding more and more that hype is hype, and there's a lot of great bottles at my store. I find myself restocking a lot of bottles under $50, and passing on restocking a lot of secondary bottles.

Graphics are good. Gold lettering more visible than the black.

Still amazing that Jim white label tastes like oak staves boiled in pig snot and donkey goo. Then Jim black is OK and Jim black 7 is kicking all their budget favorites.

Should have thrown Dickel 8 Year Bourbon into that mix. Dickel 8 Year Bourbon is sub to low $30. Nice budget drinker that hardly gets any coverage.

At a major liquor store here in Texas that is five letters and starts with a S I just bought a bottle for $33 which is obviously overpriced. Major upsetting to me that they are overcharging. This place normally sells bourbon at MSRP including all the allocated stuff.
