It was my first Splinter Cell, actually, and while I can argue as long as it takes that Conviction wasn’t nearly the best in terms of gameplay (huge kudos to the Chaos Theory) I wouldn’t even dare to say that it hasn’t been the best Splinter Cell story-wise. Oh, man, I LOVE how angry Sam is in this part, I LOVE how Michael Ironside is LIVING THROUGH that pain Sam endures and I LOVE how fucking stylish that game was. @@CHRISCAMPO-wq8bi The hate was definitely there, I remember it. Fans didn't like the action-focused nature of it. Blacklist actually brought some stealth elements back from the older games that people enjoyed. It's funny how times change. I remember playing this obsessively at my cousin's house, especially on co-op, just because of how creative and cinematic the game was. I was genuinely surprised when critics and splinter-cell "fans" hated on this game for being too cinematic and confrontational; they wanted emphasis on stealth and sneaking that was known in the older Splinter Cell titles. But when you consider that it was one of the few stealth games of its time that put emphasis on combat, it just clicked that it was a welcome break from the monotony of stealth; that Conviction turned Sam Fisher into something much more powerful than a shadow in the night. Then again, I wasn't playing Resident Evil 6 nor the PS Vita Metal Gear Solid games, so I likely wasn't as inoculated with the generic shooter games at the time as others were.
