Shawn is the Man!! Need to Build A crawler For Him after the Jeepster, He's a good dude and a great worker and help around the shop!! keep him around at all costs!! Hunter is a great asset too, he Really gets us good shots with the camera work, and he's really stepped up and became another valuable set of hands around the Shop!! I miss Randall Wish he would pop into the shop more from time to time but I'm sure he's a busy guy.

Paul, the way I see it and in Landon's behalf I think the deer hit Landon. If Landon hit the deer the damage should be in the front , not half way back in the cab. Just saying. Really enjoy your videos, Hunter does a great job as a videographer, along with learning how to mechanic. The fill in camera persons do a fine job also.

I've never hit a deer, but i've been hit by deer twice. Thankfully, there was even less damage than Paul's truck both times. Deer are pretty dang stupid sometimes. 😂

What happens when you hit a deer........ I mean when a deer hits you... is even if you hit him with your front bumper the deer spins around and the legs slam into the side of your truck unless you hit it square in the middle of the bumper. My big old winch bumper saved my grill and radiator but I still wound up with hoof marks in my door. Not nearly as bad as Landon's though!

Hit a 12-point buck (so the Deputy and Trooper told me) with a 97 T-bird. It destroyed the entire front clip, windshield and driver's door. I was not happy at the time. It was a favorite car of mine.

I bet Air Dog isn't thrilled with you calling their pump a FASS. 😂 I love my Air Dog. My old Duramax likes not having to suck the fuel all the way up from the tank.

Personally I would have cut an angle on that drawstraw. If close bottom it is possible to suck tight to bottom of tank or to create a “Venturi” effect causing more air to be mixed into fuel.

I too laughed every time I heard "Fast" pump 😂 ...and yes the 'suck straw' is supposed to be cut off at a 45* angle. These guys are great fabricators and I LOVE this channel, but they sure aren't diesel techs 😉 No disrespect, we all have our specialties 👍

Happy New Year Fab Rats! Sorry to hear about the Duramax hopefully you'll get it back soon. Not to worry Grandma Lolly supervised Sean and Hunter until Paul got back. Good job getting the Dodge fixed up and running. Now for the bed! Sean and Hunter are really growing in their experience with these repairs. Good job. Good video!

I remember adding an oem fog light package to an 09 Ram for a friend. The kit included everything needed and went together pretty fast and easy but they would not work. Come to find out you have to take it back to the dealer so they could tell the truck it had fog lights now and it was ok for the truck's computer to allow them to work. Crazy stuff.

Yes the 3rd the Gen rams have all computer controlled lights and they are very problematic ! Everything is given its signal by a module called a 'TIPM' which lives under the fuse box and is known for failing. Thanks Dodge!! 😂

My brother is a journeyman mechanic who does a lot of wiring work. He said the wiring he dreaded was from one ambulance manufacturer. They used blue 14 gauge for everything. Great job in figuring the wiring out

Soo when I was Landon's age I might have been a little hard on things and seemed to have bad luck. When I finally realized the common issue for all my problems was me and changed how I was handling things, amazingly things started turning around. It wasn't all at once, but the more you think about your actions and take full responsibility when needed the better things get. Things do happen and not everything is your fault. But slowing down and paying attention sure seems to cut down on the "accidents".

The Fuel Filters; I has an Amsoil by-pass oil filter mounted the same way and .... something was thrown up and punctured the spin-on filter. You'll want to install a mud flap or something to protect it.

Just a FYI. FASS and Air dog are 2 brands of lift pumps. That's an Air Dog, not a fast or FASS.

When i change a big harness like that, i never rip everything out and THEN start putting new stuff in. Too easy to miss/forget connections. I prefer to lay the new harness over top of the old one, then change every connection over one at a time. Easy to tell if you missed anything.

Just installed the same air dog system on my F350. Took me quite some time to do, but mine was a lot of plug in play. Hardest part was getting the wires ran for the harness. You will be happy with it

I had seen the passenger side of the Duramax dented in the 24 hours to hell and back video. I wondered what happened to it. Almost smoked a buck chasing a doe across the road last night up here in MN, late in the year for chasing but sure glad I didn't hit it since I had the FiL truck. Great video as usual, just love watching the projects as I can't do this type of work so it's so much fun for me to see.

The PCM is programmed for an AUTO as well. Passenger side firewall. Coulda left the engine harness alone, trans harness needed to be changed as well. APPS sensor is the same for auto and manual. 🤷‍♂️ Also don’t need to pull the bed to install a FASS or Airdog, common rails have their lift pumps in the tank. They did away with the engine mounted lift pumps on 2nd gens.

Good to know, I have an 04.5 and got one Severe Duty filter kit, thinking of adding a 2nd kit with water separator and 1st kit is just a filter, then block off the engine side filter, which is very hard to reach. I pulled the fuse box on mine to clean it (lid was lost), can't imagine pulling and swapping all the wiring too. (and than having it run)

My 03 had the lift pump on the back of the filter housing on the engine. They switched to an intank lift pump mid 2004.

Swapping out the several wiring harnesses - impressive. Finding jut the right two wires to reverse - that's either dumb luck or absolutely amazing!

Number one, I love grandma and I love Michelle. As far as I feel they can both be on as much as they want. They just lighten things up when they’re around. Hunter well he’s still pretty much a kid that’s what makes it so fun to have them on there, he does some quirky things and I like it. Paul, what is it with you in the snacks. Actually Paul I’m jealous I can’t eat all those snacks between my high blood pressure and stomach problems. So if you can eat them, enjoy them don’t listen to what anybody else says. Enjoy yourself honest and truly your whole shop is great different personalities. Everybody does things differently, I just love watching the camaraderie of the shop Joe God be with you and bless you all. PS Michelle needs to be on there more, and I love her laugh.

In the event yall do aner lift pump install I highly recommend the bean machine sump. Drill a hole in the bottom of the tank super easy.

I did a manual conversion on my 04.5 Cummins all I did was take the prndl switch and test the resistance for drive and for neutral run it through a relay to have either on or the other on. Use neutral to start and if you have electric transfer case to switch to 4 low. Then use the drive resistance to trick the ecu so that the cruise works.

that job is where tape comes in handy mark all the connectors as you remove them even if your not using the harness .you can always find where they went ,,

Paul, I had much better luck when I installed a sump on the tank to prevent the straw from sucking air when on a slope or changes in speed. My truck is a 2002 with a 35 gallon tank. It's much longer than the tank in this truck.

Hey Paul, Way way back in the late 1960’s early 70’s, whenever I worked on my Old Cars, I almost always used my Dad’s Old Chilton Auto Mechanics book to help me figure out what to do. My Dad helped my as much as he could, but he bought that Manual/Book for himself. We figured things out, eventually. Thankful I did not become an Auto Mechanic, I worked almost 50 years in an Air Condition Office. I’m retired now.

Farm News did a test, on penetrating oil. They found that PB blaster worked well, as well as many others. They tested a home brewed concoction of approximately 50/50 acetone and transmission, worked just as well as the commercial products.

@fabrats Paul go with the redhead steering gearbox on your ram. They are a very well built box with almost no steering play to speak of. I have one on my 07 and it's been good.

If don’t have a fast on another flatbed I am going to advise getting the filter heater. Mine gels up every damn winter.

If you just ground the clutch switch the computer will always think the clutch is pushed in and the cruise control won’t work

I have used 'FREE' for everything! Locked motors, starting fluid, rusted tools and even wasp killer. I sprayed it into 2 rusted padlocks like 3 years ago and they still work like new! Good stuff.

hello Paul ....I see you guys were putting the draw straw in the tank. I would get a sump to put on the bottom of the tank. I've got three. 2 gen dodge and that's what I've done with mine and I've had no issues with it.

I don't see what the harness has to do with it. Seems that you just have to swap the ECM and add the few wires that make it different and be done with it...
