Aemond's expressions during the aftermath scene are telling. He's satisfied when the bastard thing is brought up, but when it becomes obvious justice will not be served and the truth of Rhaenerya's children will continue to be hidden he seems scared, and then later becomes enraged. This is the episode that proves to him (and to Aegon too) that Alicent was right all along about Rhaenerya being a shitty queen, and it's where the greens really solidify their goal.

You want a child's eye to be poked by an adult to get your justice? This did not prove anything but Viserys not changing his successor. Viserys is already aware of the Hightowers scheme to put their children on the throne, especially with Alicent questioning Rhaenyra's children multiple times in front of him, so he already knows the goal Alicent is trying to push by doing that and he said NO Rhaenyra my first child with the pure Valerian will rule after me. You can't call them bastards because the father (Laenor) and (the grandfather) Corlys admitted that the children are Velaryon (even when they are not) Viserys kinda legitimate the children's birth by saying that who ever question that will be punished. If anything, Rhaenyra showed that she can handle herself with such poise and pride that's of a true queen: the way she handled what happened, it took her one sentence from her child " he called us bastards" to not only bring the matter (she was trying desperately to hide) but turn the table on everyone who is against her and got her father to support her and her bastards , unlike Alicent who was showed to be unstable (the way she was talking and her tone) , unhinged(when she jumped at Rhaenyra trying to attack the child), openly going against the king (disobeying his last judgement, using his kings-guard against his orders)
@neneray310
@neneray310 Жыл бұрын
@@toobusytocare7555 no one is saying to poke another kids eye out but something should have happened as this was 1. The kings son 2. It was a situation where it was a 4v1 and 3. One side brought a knife and used it. Viserys should have brought down actual justice. Choosing to do nothing about rheanyras obviously bastard children is still a action he is choosing to do, knowingly putting his sons further away from the throne(not that either particularly want it at this point but it’s still not the right way to handle this). Rheanyra has been messing up a lot and showcasing that she won’t be a good ruler since at least episode 2 and she has continued to do so and keeps getting off Scott free. Alicent lost her mind for one scene due to having her son lose his eye and no one doing nothing about it, ever seen a mom when their child is hurt irl? Imagine when the child loses their eye and no one sticks up for the kid. It’s understandable that she lost it at that moment, not saying she was right to do it. It’s all about the nuances which most people threw out the window when watching this episode.

If dragons choose their raiders then him sneaking out in the middle of the night was unnecessary because whether it's after a day or a month Vaghar will still choose that one raider she desires. Rhaena and Aemond both had equal chances to claim Vaghar but he stole the girl's chance to give it a try.. If he only waited, both kids could have tried to claim her fair and square but at the end it will be her who choose which raider she wants. He knew there was a possibility that Rhaena can claim Vaghar that's why he went on and claimed her first behind everyone's back.

The man may be speaking truth, but the truth will cost Rhaenyra and her children their lives, and Veamond doesn’t seem to mind that detail either. Do you really believe that having children out of wedlock merits losing your life? Or that it makes you less capable to rule? Isn’t Jace a better choice of monarch against any child raised by green Aegon? Ok I'm done with my Green defence for now, the comments I've done is enough. FYI even though I think the Blacks' misdeeds are grossly overlooked and there's a lot of Targareyan bias by most audiences, as well as Rhaenerya getting the troubled protagonist treatment by the showrunners, I think both sides are pretty much even in terms of being fucked up. The greens are conspiring and instigating, so it's a matter of whether or not you think it's justified. Personally I think Rhaenerya and Daemon would have always ended up together, and Sam is correct about Daemon. He may be charismatic but he should be far, far away from the throne. Factor in Alicent's characterization in the show with her sympathetic backstory and I don't think there's a single one of her actions here that aren't completely understandable. Factor in the characters on the Green side all being far more interesting to me, and not enough people seeing both sides, and you get the answer for why I try to balance the scales.

Baela is the first person that punched Aemond, so he had all the right in the world to defend himself. "He snitched on his brother" Well, kinda yes, but he was doing it to protect his mother. Viserys didn't do anything to a kid for passing on gossip, but Alicent was told last time to never bring this topic up again, so the consequences to her could be a lot worse

the point is not whether rhaenyra is capable of murdering her half-siblings. she might not but other people who want her favour would do it (like how larys forced alicent into his debt). or she might not right now but that might not be the case when viserys dies and people want a male heir on the iron throne instead of her, especially when it's been established by many characters in the show that this is a heavily patriarchal society, that rhaenyra is not liked by the small folks in king's landing (the parody when she had a night out with her uncle), and how her claim has become extra wobbly because everyone knows her sons are bastards. how long do you think she will withhold her violence until her hands are forced. and we know targaeryens will take what they think is theirs, with fire and blood.

Kinda feel sorry for Aegon. I wasn't expecting this cause I'm team black 💯 ( I remember when I was reading the books I was thinking that he's a terrible person and that's it) but looks like he isn't that bad. In fact, he's the victim of his mother's and grandfather's manipulations too. Sure he's a bit cocky and reckless but he's not a bad person, he's just not interested in 'the court things' yet he'll have no choice... In this ep we're starting to see his fall down imo 😔 He drank so much probably because he knows that one day he'll have to betray Rheynyra and her kids even if he doesn't want to cause he likes them. He can't be friends with Jace anymore. Viserys is completely mess.. (at this point he drinks a lot of 'the milk of poppy' so it's understandable). It seems like Aegon is separated from his real family and friends and now he has only 'the greens' by his side (even the clothes he wears are always green- it's so symbolic) and his mother and grandfather treat him like shit. Alicent hit him in the last episode and in this one as well, literally for nothing! He did nothing wrong.. She transferred her anger to Aegon but it was Aemon who sneaked out of the castle during the night... This, and her "you took my son's eye' to Rhayenyra show us how delusional and impulsive adult Alicent is. She's so toxic to her kids. Also, Otto even kicked Aegon- wtf?! 😡 At this point, Aegon has only his brother left, but he doesn't really like him, and he had never had a real bond with him as he had with Jace. Now Aegon looks completely lost and unfortunately there is no one around him who really loves him and cares. It's hard to watch how he is treated as a pawn and nothing more.

While I feel bad for alicent ofc but she has her own faluts too, going against rhaenyra bcs she lied to her & being jealous trying to get her son in the throne & poisoning their mind same as her father did to her, her sons weren't in danger, making them challenge against rhaenyra is what puts them in danger, she tries to do the right thing? Oh no, she doesn't,deceiving, usurping the throne from rhaenyra going against her late husband's wishes that caused the war letting her father's shadow loom over her... While rhaenyra might be in easier environment compared to her, she shouldn't blame rhaenyra it's not her fault, it's her own father's fault & her bitterness,she literally started being bitter first constantly wearing green which is indirectly declaring her intention to go against her while we saw rhaenyra wasn't about colors still which I mean that she wasn't about this bitterness & creating her side & conflict... You know what I mean? ... but I have to admit it's very easy for children to get manipulated by anyone ESPECIALLY their parents so I shouldn't say why alicent let's Otto's poison spread even more through her...

FYI, Rhaenerya saying "Aemond must be sharply questioned" is a Westerosi euphemism for torture. Let's not overlook that Aemond is her 10 year old brother and she didn't think twice before wanting to torture him for saying something that everyone knows is true. It's not a badass moment, neither is Viserys threatening to rip out people's tongues. It's a little something called tyranny.

Far from it, all these houses have held on to their lands and power for centuries, some thousands with no dragons. The Targaryen dynasty was going downhill as soon as they lost their dragons(their own doing) and even though there would be some that were born who would carry the house on their back they were far outnumbered by crazy dumbasses who think they’re better than everyone because they can trace their ancestry back to their nicest loving sheep herders turned blood ritual dragon riders. Targs are L’s.

Both sides are equally shitty, but in terms of children. Rhaenyra definitely has the better kids. In the books Jace is a good boy who would probably be a good king if given the chance. For the Greens you have Heleana who is pretty loved by the people in the book and they have another child not in the show yet named Darion who is also pretty loved by the people.

Even in the show Rhaenyra's kids are quite decent. While we have Aegon bullying his brother, Jace brought his younger brother behind his back first before swinging the blade at Aemond. @@toobusytocare7555 yeah I agree the show actually does a better job at making Aegon and Ameond more likable. They actually give them more depth and a backstory I.e. The fight scene with the children is way more grey in terms of who was right who was wrong. In the books Joffrey 3 and Ameond literally assaults a 3 year old child! He’s horrible lol.

You can say the 'excuse' that she is a woman is 'pathetic' but that is the law of the land the story is set in - it isn't set in 2022. Yeah. She's definitely a hypocrite. She constantly talks about duty... as the Queen, her duty is to judge fairly and be honest with her King and husband. She should judge Cole and Larys for their crimes, yet, she didn't do it. She decided not to reveal their secrets- why? Because she wanted to keep them by her side as her puppets. Larys is literally a cold-blooded murderer, she knows it, and yet she hasn't done anything about it, lool. It seems she's selectively fair and honorable, and she is fulfilling her duties selectively as well, lmao. Also, Alicent is so toxic to her kids. She hit Aeon in the last episode and in this one as well, literally for nothing! He did nothing wrong. She transferred her anger to Aegon but it was Aemon who sneaked out of the castle during the night... This, and her scene with the knife, specifically her "you took my son's eye' to Rhayenyra!? show us how delusional and impulsive adult Alicent is. Her anxiety problem got worse and so has her impulsiveness, so she loses control and hits her kids 😡 In one episode even Heleana flinched when Alicent touched her - nice detail and foreshadowing :) F**k Alicent. Sorry not sorry. They did a great job to make us sympathize with her when she was young, but adult Alicent is not only delusional and devoid of empathy but she's also like a Trojan horse in the court.

I think they are both in the wrong but I hate Rhaenyra even more. I understand Alicent resentment is still petty though. Rhaenyra on the other hand I do understand that she feels that she has this obligation to fulfill this prophecy but she has not made any effort to do her part. She has illegitimate kids without considering the consequences that will bring in the future. I do believe she is spoiled and selfish in that end. Yes, it is unfair to her where a man can have many batards as they want and still do what they want but she is trying the break rules that have been in place for thousands of years. If she was obligated to the prophecy she would have done things smartly instead of being so careless. It has been intersting seeing people reaction online to Allicent. I do believe she has every right to be worried because due to Rhaenyra action it will be harder for people to be on her side. People have also been putting their morals on the character. In terms of what Alicent wanting a childs eye to be removed. In the world of Westeros thats, not an unreasonable request. If it was a low-born person most likely the kid's eye would have been removed without question or he would be killed. If the roles were reversed probably Rhaenyra would have made the same request. People also compare Alicent to Cersei witch the comparisons are there but she is also very similar to Ned Stark in some ways. They both believe in honor, duty, and family but with different actions to uphold those beliefs. Also, you can not steal a dragon it goes both ways the dragon chooses its rider. Once leana died the dragon was open to whoever was worthy to claim it and whoever the dragon chooses to.

If she TRULY wanted best for her children she would stay close to rhaenyra & would tell her kids to love each other, respect Rhaenyra as future queen 🤷🏾‍♀️ cause if she did that, it doesn't freaking matter what lord doesn't want to see women on iron throne, because guess what? THEY HAVE 10 FUC*ING DRAGONS 🤣🤣 GO AHEAD & SAY SOMETHING AGAINT THAT 🤷🏾‍♀️ if she truly loved her children she WOULD RAISE THEM RIGHT 🙂 & yet just compare her kids to rhaenyra's , you can tell who has experienced mother's love & who hasn't 🤷🏾‍♀️ Alicent did all of this cause she's selfish, she's jealous of the freedom Rhaenyra has 🙂 she thought that Rhaenyra would get marry , perform her duties & be as miserable as she is 🤷🏾‍♀️ once she saw she's only one who is miserable her anger toward her father was redirected toward Rhaenyra. Only think she has left to pursue is power & she's using her kids to get it 🤷🏾‍♀️ it's pretty simple for me 🙂
