HS senior Tate DeRias is the real deal. Sitting low 90s T95 in games will definitely get you noticed. How hard were/are you throwing in high school?

Thank you for these videos, they have been very helpful with reteaching and learning things. I fell out of love of the game. I had not throw a ball in about 10 years , Hit low 90s after throwing a ball again over the past few months. I am 28 , played pretty competitive ball(showcases/USA tryouts etc) as a kid with some really good players around my area (Logan webb , Nick Madrigal , Stephen Nogosek). Shoutout Sac Area baseball. Confirming to myself that I had the ability to hit 90s was a personal goal for me. Thank you Tread Athletics.

Dude I did the same thing (I got moved from var starter to lower jv closer) I was throwing 84

Late getting out of the glove- arms having to drop to throw the ball forward. Lots of potential there but there's flaws

What's the rationale behind grip changes? Not necessarily these ones in particular, just in general. I always see your coaches suggest certain modifications (shift the ball in your hand, change your thumb position, etc) and I'd love to be able to learn the reasoning behind them so I can do it myself.

it changes how it spins because not every seem is the same and stuff like that, for example a upside down horseshoe curve and normal horseshoe grip curve have different spin rates and movement.

We aren't always going to change the grips. It all depends on what we're trying to change, which is usually the movement or the velocity on the pitch. For example, if a pitcher has a sub-par fastball profile because he is cutting it, he may be supination-biased, and by giving him a different grip, we can actually give him a pretty decent sinker that uses seam shift. Of course, all these video highlights show ones that have worked, if the grip doesn't work well or the old one was better, we'll stick with that.

@@treadathletics Gotchya. So, on sinkers, I've seen you guys make really small adjustments to guys' grips, where you just shift the balls slightly in their hand, or maybe widen/narrow their grip. How do you know to suggest those changes?
