This Knight Causes a Major Plot Hole in Transformers 5. 1 of the biggest selling points in The Last Knight would have to be the Guardian Knights themselves. They were featured heavily throughout the movie's marketing campaign. And even featured toys with names and descriptions. Leading fans to believe that they would have personalities and serve more prominent roles. However those things were quite limited. None of the Knights are named in the movie, nor are they ever shown to have individual alt-modes. But the biggest issue is their actual number. Edmund Burton stated that there were 12 Guardian Knights. But the movie would go on to contradict this number. The Talisman Knight had died earlier. Not to mention The TRF shot Skullitron off a high ledge and Nemesis Prime killed 2 other knights. Reducing the ramining members to 8. But somehow all 12 Knights would emerge from their ship near the end of the film.

Pretty sure it’s exactly that since Optimus is a knight which was confirmed my Lockdown because he commandeered their ship, also it’d make a lot of sense to have knights and guardian knights which would serve more purpose and probably be deeper in that station because of their importance and ability to transform into a dragon.

@@RodRod82 well to be fair, the autobots said they learned to speak English from the internet and once megatron woke up from stasis there's no reason to think he didn't do the same thing. Plus it was also implied megatron was still conscious of what was going on around him while he was frozen and could hear the humans talking around him so I give them a pass for that one.

They learnt earths languages through the www, Starscream etc was already on earth. Also even in G1 onwards bots and cons already know the names of each other for the most part even when having never met on screen etc. With some obvious exceptions.@@RodRod82

Maybe the other knights not with the 12 knights are just foot soldiers? Like the 12 Guardian knights are high ranking warriors, then there are other knights that followed them. The 12 Guardian knights are leaders of some sort, and they have their own military. But I'm not sure

ROTF despite its problems, didn't heavily retcon the lore. It just expanded on it by revealing that the Transformers have been on Earth far longer than initially thought. But then DOTM fucked it up by claiming Megatron actually came to Earth for the purpose of reuniting with Sentinel like damn we just forgetting about the Cube, huh?

Hear me out, megatron made the deal with sentinel, then went to earth to grab the cube and got stuck in the ice, sentinel left to go meet megatron on earth, obviously got shot and landed on the moon, transformers 1 happens starscream and sound wave know sentinel is on the moon in stasis, they want the cube so they revive sentinel (creating an army was an excuse, also decepticons never announced why they wanted the cube, could be for any reason), cube gets destroyed, transformers ROTF happens, Sam has cube in BRAIN, new goal to destroy the sun to harvest energon for a new army and rule over the galaxy, they need the matrix and will use sam to get it, so screw sentinel megatron has the fallen why would the fallen work with sentinel he hates the primes, rotf plan fails then dotm.

I wouldn't say 100%, but it was a lot. All the ancient aliens shit to point at Cybertronians being present throughout history in each movie was tiring. The franchise also added a new stupid mcguffin each movie.

My idea with it is there are 12 knights, but they each have their own guard that serve under them. If you think about Camelot, each Knight of the Round Table kind of had their own guard or brigade of knights that would serve under them. So maybe there are 12 main knights of Iacon, but each may have another 3-12 serving under them.

I think it's lore ( unless you mean following G1) but it's one of those things that fans expect an explanation. Like Quintessa's talking about her 12 guardians going to Earth way back ( forgetting the year). She could have added she discovered further traitors i.e. the knight that gave Cade the talisman. Simple dialogue and prob 15 seconds more of CGI.

@@dmolegend1699 2&3? Certainly. 13 Autobots and at least 20 cons per movie. A few new Autobots were picked to have a little personality that fans like them ( or not since we're talking about Que), but not close to 1, 4 & 5. The Decepticons, except for Megatron and Staracream's, were definitely just characters added for battle. So battles look cool, except for the rule about the cons always being black or silver making it hard for people to follow.

I'm thinking that when the Guardian Knights betrayed Quintessa, they had many followers who spread out among the stars, like squires and household guards, but the majority travelled to Earth and only 12 Guardian Knights were sent to help the ancient English because that was all they needed. Just one of the giant robots would have made the barbarians shit themselves.

In one of the movies even Megatron looked like a knight. In cartoon series it was told that Optimus Prime and Megatron were best friends and fought alongside in wars. That can mean that even Megatron could be a Prime and also a knight. Just like Optimus Prime.

Actually, fun fact There are actually more knights than just the guardian knights, as shown on Extinction. So it’s fair to assume that the knights that were shown before and have died were not the Guardian knights, but rather lower ranked knights who were fighting on their behalf while they were arriving.

From my understanding, there are 12 knights that serve/guard Quintessa directly, which are the 12 that come together to transform into the dragon (given the name "Guardian Knights" since they were given a specific task and able to transform to carry out that task). The rest are just regular knights of Cybertron as stated by Barricade "a dying knight gave it to him," referring to the talisman knight. This means that there are both "knights" and "guardian knights." Also, the guardian knights seem to always be together so if the red guardian knight isn't seen, then those knights aren't the "guardian knights."

I have an idea how this happened... Back in ancient times, there was an old military unit that had 100 members... They were called immortals. Not because they always die, but because as soon as one died, they instantly got replaced, keeping the number at 100. Just carry this over to the guardian knights, and it adds up.

The 12 guardian knights and their ship's very existence in TLK is a plot hole. Age of Extinction heavily implied that the Dinobots were the knights, and Lockdown's ship was explicitly stated to be the Knights' ship.

Perhaps when they Landed on Earth, there where more than 12 Knights, and the 12 would be the first ones to Wake up, also it's possible that there where more Knights out there in the Cosmos, and that underwater Ship might be from the Ones that came after the 12.
