Today we are back with another video. Today we are fishing on Lake of the Woods and we are targeting big summer walleyes! In this video we troll with lead core for deep basin walleyes. This is a super productive way to fish crank baits this time of year. We end up having a great day and catch a bunch of big walleyes!

Great video guys...that is the lake I caught my personal best on using what you guys teach in your videos.....lead core I am really new to since majority of Iowa doesn't have the lakes that need that deep of trolling but I definitely need to learn it. I would enjoy behind the scenes also of getting the boat reset up, retying, getting ready to run a system

I broke down and bought a MN fishing license, just had to, too many opportunities. Typically northern Wisconsin satisfies my walleye cravings but exploring new lakes is just too fun. Really want to try this lake. That a hell of a journey though. Nice content guys, you should've filmed the big waves though, that's always nerve wracking!

Think it would be an awesome promo idea if you guys run a contest for all walleye now subscribers. Have a tally on all walleye boated between Tom and Mitch for calendar year 2023, closest guess without going over wins a weekend fishing trip with the pair of you guys?? Great incentive for new subscribers, and a nice give back to a lucky long time fan🤷🏻‍♂️ Tight lines fellas!

I think the behind the scenes stuff would be neat. I also think some random "boring" stuff could be interesting, too - I know that sounds backwards, but there always seem to be little nuggets of info to pick up that aren't the main topic. So something that doesn't make sense for a main video like prepping and launching the boat, pre-rigging rods the night before, sorting or buying tackle, looking at lake maps the night before, who knows - putting it in a BTS vid could pick up some tips. Might work, might not, IDK, I've just picked up a lot of subtle things over the years so could be neat. What's Mitch's channel?

You should check out walleye retreat when you're up there again. Owner is Robbie he has nice cabins that are great prices cheaper than the hotels in town and you can keep your boat in the water. He has a landing right at the resort.

Hey Tom! My family has a cabin on a small Ontario lake connecting to 2 other lakes. It’s not very pressured but it’s a bit of a struggle to convince walleye to bite even though I have plenty of spots where I mark a lot of fish. Water is fairly clear and quite warm. Any techniques you would suggest to work to catch these fish?

Nice video tom,just curious now that outboards can drop rpms low enough to troll,is it worth not buying a kicker,or at 4$ a gallon is trolling all day add alot of expense,I salmon troll all day with a 150 hp I can't imagine trolling with the big motor all day
@kirbytaylor3456
@kirbytaylor3456 2 жыл бұрын
My two cents worth. The kicker motor is a definite advantage economically because you are not logging countless hours on a $40,000 dollar motor. You are logging them on a $5,000 motor. That would be my justification for a kicker motor.

Whoa whoa whoa... I can look past comments all day long. That one?! No way! Green Bay in April will SMOKE LOTW. Well worth your drive. I hope you caught fish... If you did, I'm going to guess there were absolute studs mixed in there somewhere. If you're fairly good, 3 fish over 10lbs is possible in a few hours. Way out west where walleyes are kinda frowned upon, (Columbia River) you might have a chance at Green Bay type fish. I've never fished out there, only heard. Erie, Saginaw, Maumee, Bull Shoals, Devil's lake, Leech etc included... Personally I think it would be tough to top Green Bay.

@@TomBoley yeah I was wondering a similar thing. I see you using bottom bouncers and I was wondering why not doing it in this case? More control on Depth? By the way love the Walleye Now App!
@MrHarryson1985
@MrHarryson1985 2 жыл бұрын
@@joshuajones2552in my opinion, MAJOR benefit of snap weights is that you don't need to set up a specific rod and reel combo to run snap weights. It gives you plenty of depth control, without having and tote around another rod and reel combo specifically for that. Con is that you have to pay for each lures individual information but 2 years later I'm more than satisfied with it. Would like to get around to putting together a lead core setup but just to see if I figured that but honestly, snap weights so well I haven't yet bothered. Also, snap weights are pretty versatile, I routinely run them to get spoons down aswell as cranks and sometimes even crawler harnesses on Lake Ontario. Anyways, hope the two cents was helpful, cheers!

You guys are fishing deep and the reason the walleyes are dying when you put them back is that you need to deflate their air bladder. I watched Mich tow 1 back, and it just floated and didn't recover.

Do you have an issue with measuring weighing your fish? I don't get solid idea of the size of the fish when you push them up to the cam. I would really like to know how big the fish really is. Even if you did a couple just for reference. Many of us are not catching fish like you're able to because of our work schedules but we live somewhat vicariously through your vids. Give us a little more please, unless you have some religious belief about true sizing of the fish. If you do please explain to us that belief. I think you owe us, who buy your app and sub to your channel, that much.
