GUEHI, STONES, KONZA - TRENT, WHARTON, BELLINGHAM, GORDON - PALMER, FODEN, SAKA - back three play solely as defenders, Wharton and Bellingham breaking up play, dribbling, through balls, Trent and Gordon set pieces, pinging in balls, and cover, the front three pressing and making runs. That line up would be a nightmare for any team to face.

Southgate just doesn’t play a system that gets the best out of the players, literally nothing on the left refused to play the likes of Gordon or Bowen who would take on defenders and create chances, continued with Trippier who was poor and not taking an actual left back like Mitchell rather praying Shaw would be fit eventually. No one getting good opportunities for Kane or running beyond Kane for him to thread the ball to. Kane has never been the player to break the lines he always wants ball to feet and it’s worked why not play into the strengths of the best striker in the world last season? Bellingham looked lost, persisting with Foden when he had been poor and Palmer had delivered each time he came on. Southgate relied on moments of magic rather than actually having a system that allowed the team to command and kill off games. The only game he genuinely made good changes was Holland. IMO of course.

It's easy to attack Southgate, but the blame lies with the players. If half of you numpty's in the comments can't understand that then god helps us! Firstly, there's a huge split in the England camp, the players don't really like Jude, especially after the Adidas advert came out and his constant messiah complex and play acting for the cameras. Half of the team at Dortmund threatened to leave when the manager thought about making him captain. Group game 2, the players were so fed up with him they refused to pass to him as much as possible, this continued throughout most of the games. Jude doesn't mix with anyone other then Trent. Gordon was ostracised for speaking out about needing to play better. You've only got to look at the players body language during games to see there was huge issues.... they didn't want to play for one another....

If anyone who thinks losing two semifinals back to back in 4 years is an achievement is on the mediocre side of the tennis court. The English midfielders are not up to speed with other European countries. The development in English football since the U17’s won the World cup with Foden, has improved and modernized. Especially in the attacking positions, but the midfield is lacking and that’s where English Development needs to step up. We also need to be a little more humble England haven’t achieved anythingnatnInternational level only a handful of players can be classed as world class and two of them play their football outside of England.
