i think it's one of those 1% improvements that won't completely 100% level up your stuff instantly, but when you add up 100 of those tiny 1% improvements you end up with AMAZING shit, way better than what you can do with just all in the box stuff, imma cop one ahhaahh

I got a Echofix EF-X3 about 6 months ago and it's GAME CHANGING. One of my favorite feelings ever now is the sound it makes when you turn the motor on or off and you get the tape slow down or speed up effect as well as turn the feedback up and make it self oscillates. Tape is just BETTER 🌊

everything sounds better thru tape! especially instruments with highs that need taming, and high transients like drums or acoustic guitar. actually the most interesting thing about tape machines to me is tape compression, it is like a compressor that turns into a limiter, with a ratio from 1 to infinity depending on how hot the signal is coming in. the fact that it's the tape's physical limitations that induce this magnetic compression makes it sound amazing

def try to touch the tape / reel while recording back into fl for some glitches & warble. fire video🙏🏼

Something about reels spinning .. I bought a pioneer hr99 8 track cartridge from the 70s getting some proper warmth when I record sterile soft synths through it .. omnisphere pads through the 8 track sounds like it’s coming straight from the 90s

1 question.. bc I seen this one all but maybe 1 or 2.. producers why when they showing the pattern.. they always switching it from small to big or seening a lot of patterns or zoomed in and see only a small section of the pattern..

Pitch an audio sample up 2-3 octaves without time-stretching/warping, record it on tape, record it to CPU, then pitch it back down 2-3 octaves. Save some time and more lofi? You could also play with the volume level input into the tape machine. You may have noticed the high freqs and dynamic range reduced with the drums, cause of how hot the signal was when sent to the tape machine. You could also tap the tape while its recording to vary the pitch like retro color.

Here's a problem with the tape...it adds extra texture but if u have a good engineer. They will try to clear that up. And could cost more money bc they will feel they have to fix it..ik from experience

Nothing insane, just typical lo-fi stuff with flutter effect. You can emulate stuff like this via freeware Tape Cassette by Caelum Audio. BTW, ancient sample packs often have the same shabby vibe - EMU Mo' Phatt, The X-Static Goldmine and etc. Besides, I am here to remind to you, dear blokes that it is not crucial for a common listener what type of equipment you have processed the stuff through. An ordinary listener will never differ UREI 1176 from modern FET compressor or 12-bit sampler from modern AKAI. Always evaluate your production from an ordinary listener angle - that's the point.
