This massive machine is capable of drilling tunnels in any, even the hardest rock structure. TBM, which stands for Tunnel Boring Machine, is an advanced machine used for excavating large tunnels in various construction projects. It consists of a cutting head, a guiding machine, and a debris removal system. TBM is employed in places where traditional tunneling methods are inconvenient or hazardous, offering greater efficiency and safety. TBMs can vary in size and weight depending on the specific model and project requirements. Typically, these machines can weigh from tens to hundreds of tons, and their length can range from several to several dozen meters. They are usually designed and built to meet the specific requirements of each tunneling project.

Even this machine needs to be assembled on sight and can not be moved a long distance. The Egyptians mined solid stone columns the same weight as this entire machine and moved them hundreds of miles. Do we do that today? No. We could, but mining a solid piece of rock is a lot more difficult than tunnelling through the same rock. If anything the impressive scale of this machine should emphasise how difficult the Pyramids were to build, not the opposite.
@Steve.TheRobot
@Steve.TheRobot 13 күн бұрын
@JKenny44 I'm saying we have the available resources to do it today, we don't have any reason to, but we could. I also say it as a testament to our modern technology and while the feats of their past is impressive, the efficiency of which we could do it (hypothetically) is arguably more impressive. TL DR our current machines are impressive feats of human innovation and technology, such as the machine in the video

@@bokoblinlogic1619 You just checked? Then name the machine. That makes even less sense btw, using gas to melt the rock? Why on earth would you ever do that? You won't be ever able to solve that "minor" issue that vaporizing / melting the rock makes it nigh impossible to recover and route it out. Not that you would even need to, modern TBM's line the tunnel walls with concrete (which is the "smooth" surface you see in tunnel falls) and do it pretty efficiently. Melting the rock would just be an insane and pointless energy expenditure.
