This is not a sponsored review. While Matrix is letting me keep this unit for now, I was under no obligation to say anything about this keyboard and my thoughts are my own.
The Matrix Lab MR.HAT faukwaa is crazy. It's also crazy expensive at 700 USD. But lets start this off right, this is not marketed towards the average consumer. And you really don't need to comment about how you can find an alice board for cheaper, I think people are aware. It's a collectors item and if you're looking for value here, then this isn't it. However the price is almost justified because of the sheer amount of pieces this has. It was a fun build that felt good and sounded "okay" to me. It was no slouch in the sound department but ultimately not something I aim for in my boards.
Ultimately I had fun with this board, and I think it'll do well for people who want something over the top.

matrix doing matrix thing...they always create a very different approach in design, always "not for everyone" kind of look, but that's what makes their board special.

13:04 Tbh, this kinda looks like a steal when you compare it to different design prices “upscaled” to Matrix Lab standards. It’s not only the amount of pieces but the machining too, which is most likely the bigger factor.

The price is totally fair imo. I don't think Matrix is expecting to sell alot of these as alice is still what i would consider a niche layout. Think the KLC dolice was around the same price and that had way less bells n whistles and was limited even though there was quite of bit of them on the market. Plus all the bells n whistles on this guy are insane.

I also think the price works but some people just only see price tags and then immediately start to compare to more value oriented products.

@@alexotos I mean I think if its too much for you thats fair but most of the "great" boards are in this price range or higher. I think typically nowadays in the hobby though while you get great value at the low end you can still get that at the high end too especially with matrix they've been on a run lately.

Now I kinda want to design a Alice board with a v fin at the top lol. You can have different v fins by swapping the original with v fins from gundams like zz, aerial, exia and maybe a zaku. Maybe even a limited edition with a red horn and a PCB that has thrice the pulling rate of the original. The board shall be named the madnuG

personally i think the gateron milky yellow pros held it back. I have some and they sound so dull compared to my other switches. They are a good budget option but in my opinion not very viable for high end boards.

The bleeps during Alex's cursing is obnoxiously loud/pitchy, would it be possible for the editor (I assume the GOAT Mr. Manoli?) to use a different sound effect and/or just lower the volume of the curse word itself?

DCX Genesis is pretty much the RX78 Granddaddy colors if you're looking for a lowkey Gundam keycap set. I do like the styling but yeah, that $700 is really tough... would love to seem something simpler with tenting that's around 200-300.

@@vaporubs2995 #1 rule for money saving in this hobby: stay true to your tastes and trust the first impression. it won’t “grow on you”. if it doesn’t click with you at first sight then it’s not the board for you.
