This is the face of a thief! Steal employe's time and insist they built the company by themselves.

Depend entirely on the industry. Actually in some industries you would be breaking the law . Proof of skill yes. Minimum wage entry level positions no. There’s a such a thing as 90 days. You can hire someone and if they don’t work out you can let them go with no repercussions.

A "sample test" is not free work. If it's an actual deliverable you intend to use it is free work, but if it is just sample work for hiring purposes only then it is not even close to free work.

I can see how this would definitely eliminate the people who won't go above and beyond, but its just putting more pressure on people in the job hunting process in a pretty competitive field. I expect a lot of candidates are applying to a lot of places and if every company did this itd take even more time for a person who's already in a pretty desparate position to get the salary they need to pay the bills. it would be painful for an applicant to put time and effort into a rejected sample project. It can also be argued that the applicant may view this from a perspective that as an employer you don't shy away from pressuring your employees, which some people do like, like the people aiming for big tech, but some hard working professionals might be turned off by the pushing of respectable boundaries on peoples time. People should be paid for the effort they contribute, thats a reasonable expectation. I can see how these arguments are flawed, but I hope you can respect the fact that im taking the time to offer some food for thought. Good luck with entrepenuership, hope you and your employees are successful 👍

Jobs that require "sample tests" you have a portfolio for the field for them to see examples of your work so they know what to expect. Everything from blue prints to wedding photography, etc. As for doing "free work." Fuck you and fuck this guy. Time = Money, and I ain't doing shit for any "employer" without being duely compensated.

Yeah, I’ve built entire apps just for take home assessments just to not get chosen. It’s a basic requirement now to do free work in order to get anywhere
