Jake, I am so very happy --- really!--- that you got the "new" Hornet! When you and Yammie finished the red Hornet, i wrote him and suggested that he give you the bike as a gift. Obviously, he gave you the shaft instead. But Karma has rolled around, you're doing great with your own channel, and now you have the Unicorn you've always wanted. Hope it turns out to be a great bike for you! All the best, man. Continued success and happiness to you!

The new cb-1000r black edition actually looks really nice and for around $12,000 it's a good bargain. My only gripe is, it's still low on HP compared to it's class. But it's probably why it's much cheaper.

@@spitescorner What kind of fuel do you run in your bikes? Serious question. I'm wondering if you get the non-menthol gasoline. Bikes run like crap on regular 87 octane with methanol as much as 10%. I'm guessing you don't use non-methanol. IF you are not running non-methanol, I think you may be impressed at the difference it makes in how a bike will run. I'm sure it would help the Hornet.

i feel you man. I had an old Africa Twin, rd07, rebuild it to last bolt, just to took a hit from big rock to left side cover, which jammed one off the gear, and the crankshaft bearing hub and engine body got cracked... whole engine ruined in a simple bad luck. Last year was looking for something similar and found the rd04. Instant love. It is so nice to just go back to roots and enjoy all of it again. Wish you the best for 919

Normally don't comment on videos but I can't help myself. Last year I bought a low mileage, completely stock 3003 Honda 919. I bought it because I always wanted one, and based on the great 919 videos on YM. It was in great condition, but needed deep clean and polish to bring it back to looking like new. No dings or dents, just dirty. I have been riding it quite a bit, but ended moving recently and lost garage space. I'm not kidding, I was about ready to list it, and then I saw this video. I was already dreading selling, so this video turned that around. I will really be looking for your updates. Great job with the channel!!!!

The trouble with the CB900F Hornet, when it was new, was there was other bikes in this class that did it better. magazine tests, especially in Europe were quite harsh on it, non of that matters now they are a few years old, and its good for buyers because the prices are stupid low.

Up until last September when it was stolen, I had the 600 faired version of the Hornet for more or less exactly 20 years. The 600 is the same size as the 900 only the power is slightly less. The 600 handled like it was on rails and with a 4 into 1 pipe with the baffles out, it sounded majestic. The 600 engine was based on the late 90's CBR600 and the 900 was based on a detuned version of the 919 Fireblade. I had the UK version of CB600FS with a fairing and it was Cobalt Blue. Oh how I miss it, I felt alive when I rode it............

Now that is my kind of motorcycle! I love the styling, sound, exhaust placement, etc... I would take that over a lot of new motorcycles. A lot of new naked sport bikes could take some styling cues from the 2003-2007 years. It's a shame that you can't buy certain parts for it anymore.

Honestly so stoked you got another 919. And happy to hear you will not sell it, only if Mark's need it, it's there for him. Love that. I think they're cool motorcycles as well. Never ridden one, might do so at some point. There should be quite a lot of them here still. Loving the fact you are gonna make a series of it with modifications and enjoy the bike as well. Nowadays all you see around YT is newer bike stuff, and I like that but older bikes 70's,80's,90's,00's,10's and everything in between and after tend to be left alone but those are bikes collectors, enthusiasts or newer or even veteran riders buy as a first bike used, or a returning used bike for nostalgia reason and whatsoever. Interesting as well, based on the specs of the Hornet it generates more torque then my Z750, but I do have a bit more hp. But mine does have a real nice mid punch. I wish you could ride one. Not sure if the z800 or z900 are any close to specs or rideability with my 08 Z750, if so you might have ridden one already and now what I mean on how it rides. Looking forward seeing more content on this!

I’m a total simp for 919 content! Picked up my 07 with 3400 miles 2 years ago from the original owner. I added a set of Sato slipons for a little more growl. Love it

I have had mine for 6 seasons. Bought it with 15056 miles on it and now I am approaching 80000 mile mark. More I ride this bike more I love it. At some point she will be sold for parts, good to know those gas tanks are valuable LOL, mine is still in good shape!

Interesting vid. Maybe get some wider Renthal bars on it? I guess you could also take it to a body shop if you wanted a "perfect" tank....that is if it bothers you sufficiently to do something about it, but sounds minor.

I've had two. I kept the one that is still 100% original. It's a perfectly balanced motorcycle. Plenty of snots to get you in trouble but great manners the other 95% of the time.

I had 2 honda hornet 900's. They were perhaps the best bikes I ever owned. I tracked them, went touring, used them as daily commutes, B road bashed them, and every thing else in between. I miss my hornets even to this day....

I see a few comments of new Hornet owners, due to the praise for the bike you have given... Welp! I'm no different, I drove 12 hours one way to get a 2007 candy apple red one, and absolutely love it. Great work 👍

I finally got a 919 after wanting one for a while. Completely stock except for the Yoshimura cans. It’s a 2007 and it’s in well above average shape those handlebars though I’ve got to do something about them. And yes the problem with the stink is real, but it’s my favorite bike and I own five motorcycles. When I went to pick it up as per your video, it had one key. 😄

I put a crash cage on my silver 919 shortly after I got it and I'm glad I did because when I lowsided my rare gas tank was unscathed 😅 I'm in Dallas by the way not too far from you.

I just sold my 636 and bought a Hornet yesterday. Custom paint, custom seat, bored out to 945 cc, custom exhaust, power commander, f4i forks and display (which is funny cause the tach says redline is 15k lol) and I got a great deal on it. I'm stoked, it's so torquey and really cozy. As much as I loved my Ninja, sometimes it's exhausting feeling like I'm qualifying every time you get on a bike for a casual cruise or commute. I don't ALWAYS feel like going 100 + MPH or 10k+ RPM but that's what sport bikes are made for, so I'm enjoying the change of pace with the Hornet.

I've got an 04' in matte uranium green....lots of "tasteful" mods. The biggest one that addresses the "stink" is a CBR900RR header with a custom mid-pipe and single low exit exhaust. That also uncorks the top end a little bit by adding 7hp up top. I've got an adjustable Hagon mono shock on the rear and I custom mixed oil for the front forks( and dropped them 10mm through the triples) with uprated springs....now it rails quite nicely. The frame is the limitation now. Nice wide aftermaket bars too....with frame slider if I drop it to protect the unobtainable tank. It's a great bike, I love 919's too. I've got a ton more mods I haven't mentioned...

My first road bike was a used 1985 Kawasaki 454 LTD. It was also my little brother's first bike. Well 25 years later I traded a treadmill for it and now that poor rusty old lady is back in my driveway waiting for a well deserved refresh/rehab. Lil' bro rides a HD V-Rod now and I love rockin' my Honda Monkey (lol) but we have plans for "Ol' Bessy". And Yes, that's what we named our "half Ninja (900)"

I had a 2002. I loved the bike EXCEPT for the swirling exhaust up my back that made me smell like exhaust fumes all day long. I had added a PowerCommander (V? I think) and that didn't completely fix the exhaust problem. I had a 929 header waiting in the wings but sold the bike before I found the right silencer.
