You could name the mining ship something along the lines of "I'm Helping!" Since it's made from the corpse of the Need Help and now its helping progress your playthrough!

You don't need more down thrust to get off the connector. Just go into the connector settings and lower it's strength. That will lower the magnetic force pulling your connectors together.

Hey! Perhaps you can make the “not fit for purpose” an undockable part of a larger, upgraded ship, a rescue vessel if you will (think saucer in star trek). That way you can stick to the humble beginnings while being able to design the bigger, badder capital ship

A small mining tip, every time you go into a deep mine, keep your fast terrain removal (eg, right click mining) on, so you can enlarge the mine wall every trip.. I would recommend doing it on exit as well.

As a casual space engineer, I love this series and Magick is an editing god, a better duo than Batman and that acrobat child he hangs out with. This ship is looking great! The comment section is doing a great job in suggesting names, mine are all just be crude and not safe for YT monitization.

When you finally have the ability to construct a jump drive, what I recommend doing is building a small dockable station, preferably in the shape of a ring, and putting the jump drive on that. Something I always end up building in my servers with friends is something like this. I call it the "StarSkipper". It's a ring, with some thrusters, a gyro, some solar panels, a nuclear reactor, and a jump drive. The solar panels are entirely not needed, but I run it with Isy's solar script so the whole docking ring actually sits in space and slowly rotates around as it tracks the sun. It sports a remote control and connector at the docking platform, which will pop the ship you're piloting dead center of the ring. The purpose of this contraption is to give jump drive capabilities to ships that would otherwise not be able to fit them, without massively redesigning the ship cuz, ya know, jump drives are FRICKING HUGE. I always build one of these as soon as I can construct a jump drive. It's cheaper than trying to build out a huge ship that can fit at least one drive, and it can extend jump capabilities to ANYTHING, small grid or large grid. It also doesn't care about docked ships with other docked ships. The only downside of course is it takes a very long time to fully charge, as it uses a few small large-grid reactors because the large variant would simply be too big for the aesthetics of the docking ring. BUT, you can build it, let it charge up, then take it all the way to the moon or something. Take your ship and miner vessel down, mine, and by the time you come back, it ought to be ready to jump again. It can serve as a highly mobile platform to get you around the solar system, and give you the ability to build up the materials you need to actually construct a ship large enough to house multiple jump drives.

Hello! I have the perfect name ideas for your drill ship. For the drill ship, call it The Lamprey or Lamprey. Lamprey are these oceanic eel-like fish that have no jaws. You already said the drill ship looks kinda like and eel, and so do these guys. Furthermore their mouths look super similar to a Space Engineers drill; just a circle with row after row of sharp teeth. They've been called vampire fish/vampire eels because they latch onto other things in the water and suck their blood, kinda like how the drill ship is meant to go for... the veins.🪨

I love that you were able to get textures from a DLC you didn't purchase by stealing a ship in-game Piracy in the fullest definition of the word! =D

Miner name ideas: "Rock Jockey" "Stone Fish" If you give it a garish paint job, you could call it the "Rainbow Shrimp". Or "Made for Purpose" if you like themed names. QoL hack: use a sorter and ejector on the miner to throw away stone. Let's you bring back maximum value.

In my first space engineers experience I flew several times several thousands of kilometers because I didn't knew there were jump drives. It is really annoying if you have to break your way to heavy ship several minutes before you hit your base.

A simple option for the name is "The Moray" as that is a type of eel. Otherwise it's a snake that mines so "Snake Eater"

Name it Graboid if you get the Reference you get it. Love the series!

I think a good name would be the glass snake! Despite its name, the glass snake is not a snake but a legless lizard. Their name is a reference to the fact that their tails can break off easily, which is totally a defense mechanism and not a design flaw!

Whenever they first added randomly spawned ships I went around capturing every one I could find and welded them together using the merge blocks. I tried to orient things in such a way that the interiors lined up in a somewhat coherent way. In the end I wound up with a massive ship that felt like a small city and looked like a lumpy mess LOL.

I like the name "Comets Demise" for the miner

Perhaps you could call the mining ship Ouroboros. It's about a snake consuming itself in a circle (granted it's not consuming itself nor is it a circle) but it does consume the rock (which eventually turns into other ships?).

Hello! To control comfortably when viewing through a “reverse” camera, you can use a remote control block that also looks backwards. That is, switch to remote control and then turn on the camera view.

19:00 The wobbling while drilling is the game feature, it can be turned off in settings when you start a game (you can change it on any save before loading in advanced settings of the save in load screen). I think it is called something like shaking camera while using tools or something, just scroll down where you thick the boxes for enable scripts, relative spectator thing, etc.... Hope it helps ;) 19:20 Set the magnetic force to even lower number or when you disconnect, you have sort of few seconds until the magnetism kicks in and you can leave without effort. Just fly away soon as you disconnect and you'll be fine :D

I'm thinkin' 'Graboid' for the minor. You can put the drills in a box pattern rather than a cross pattern so you can see down the middle.

I've been playing and watching Space Engineers playthroughs for years, (by years, I mean since nothing but a platform and a block :D). In this community, there are a few greats and a few giants... I have my favorites, the amazing entertainment of Morpholigist (I miss Potato!) the pure creativity of Splitsie, to the practical and informative guides of quantumjoe to name a few. Factually it could also be the Not Fit For Porpoise. Everyone knows dolphins are capable of space flight on their own anyways.

I know this is two months old, but I put a remote control block facing backwards so that the controls are not backwards when I backup. Works like a charm. I also group backward and forward thrusters and turn them off to just drift in that direction and having the others on with inertia dampeners on allows you to steer in the direction you are pointing. I think you do that but it is a cool hack for the ones reading the comments.
