Usually I'm not so keen on the 'tubby' and thumpy sound of a short scale but this brings something different. It has a unique voice and I imagine it would sound good in a live band mix

Those basses are so cool. Valiant is a cool company. Those are the same bridges that allpartsbridges sell. They source them somewhere in Eastern Europe. Probably from these guys.

Two years ago when I started playing again a short scale was all my hands could handle, and I got an Ibanez Mezzo medium scale 32 inch. After a year I longed for long scale and now I'm thinking about a Schecter 5 fanned fretted! The hands adapt and the fingers stretch so for anyone into serious playing, get a little bass like this only for its sound, which is really cool BUT... this retails for $1700 so for anyone looking for a SS bass there's plenty of other choices. Very nicely built bass, but it suffers from the same issue as all other ultra short scale basses with this tuning do: Intonation when digging into the strings. I had one.. it's so much fun playing but when using it seriously and you care about intonation, be aware of it..

For $1700USD, I'd hope it sounds nice... It certainly looks pretty amazing and unique. I wish more guitars would look nicer like this.

i count 20 frets.. Valiant's site also says 22.. wish it wss at least 21 frets

I find short scales awkward. The thing I like most about them is their thumpy, round tone. So a short scale that's even shorter and doesn't sound like a short scale is not for me. I do like some of the design elements though. The look of the knobs, fretboard, and pickup covers is cool.

What’s the string tension like on the E? Looks a bit wobbly and I see they’re going to be releasing a 5 string. Would love a short scale 5 string but always worry about the low string tension

It looks great but I got a CNZ mini-J bass for 1300 less. I`ve been playing since the `70`s and I absolutely love it. Put a set of La Bella Deep T flats and you will be amazed. jmo
