This motorized bike has a lawnmower transmission

hey everyone, in this video Kim and I take another look at the homemade 5-speed motorized bike. It has a lawnmower transmission on it that can do R-1-2-3-4-5. It also has a torque converter. Lastly this motorized bike can go around 45mph and get ~80-100 miles per gallon. My dad back in the 80s did a BSA Dandy 2stroke 70cc engine on a bike also it has a 2 speed gearbox in it. (He was just 15 when he did it)

Just because it has pedals on it does not mean it's a bicycle. That is a BEAST of a motorcycle with pedals. The 212s are trending at the moment and for the last month. I have a nice and simple 66 but if I had that bike mixed with my luck I'd get a ticket on my first day.

Great motorized bike project, lad. If there is a 2-speed lawn mower transmission as an option is easier than a 5-speed.

I would add a support bearing because running a torque converter like that will snap the plate I've seen it happen

I got several of those riding mower 5spd xmissions and have thought of doing same thing, mounting one on a small trike. That way the reverse gear is even useful! Question: how hard is it to shift on the fly since these trannys do not have syncro?

Did you use gear oil or grease for the transmission lubricant?

It originally had grease in it. I tried to use oil, but the case is not sealed enough for oil.

@@OliverMotorized after 350 miles the bikes peddle crank i made into a jack shaft is starting to show a lot of wear. after putting a PZ30 on the 208cc engine it keeps up with traffic like a moped, but it can obviously go up bigger hills and has a much higher top speed... i can really see, one of these bikes even with a 2 speed gear box and a centrifugal clutch would be awesome, if first gear were to top out at 25mph @ 4000rpm and have second run 45mph @ 4000rpm. the 208cc i found makes 29ftlbs at 4000rpm, so i just run it at as a single speed for 2000rpm @ 25mph, the centrifugal clutch makes lots of noise until it gets to 20mph.

Usually above 49cc and faster than 25mph. That would require a moped license

Nice but not as fast as it should be. I have a lct 136cc with a comet 30series and it's faster then that. I have a 40t in the back.

Okay this one is a mess..you know what the bicycle centrifugal clutch xmission looks like right ? Has clutch drum on one side. The sprocket on the other side.. And lower left rear mount motor version needs two meshed gears inside in order to reverse the rotation.. Because 99.9% motors rotate counter clockwise & that will make the bike go backwards.. And none of these Chinese manufacturers know what they are doing. The human race is getting dumber all the time. And making us waste our money on junk !
