Love your demonstration! I balance the club in the other hand, after finishing the swing. Keep on swinging like Victor, even though everybody is different😉

Get in your own zone. Know what works for you. Foster no doubts in your ability and then just swing the club. Best advice ever and I loved your Count Yogi swing. Cheers

I rediscovered Count Yogi reading the George Peper book ‘The Secret of Golf’. Peper was the long time editor of Golf Digest who had seen everything possible and the book was 30 chapters each devoted to a notable golf instructor. He put CY as the last chapter calling him the World’s Greatest Golfer You Never Heard Of. When I say I rediscovered because after reading the about him in the book I remembered one of my first memories of golf as a kid watching it on TV in the early 60s was a trick shot artist using a club head attached to a bull whip to hit perfect shots which uses the same technique of fully releasing the club head around the hands before impact which with experimentation I discovered was the hidden-in-plain sight secret to both the power and accuracy in his golf swing. I had been working my way through Hogan’s book at the time and using his waggle technique which I realized did the same thing as CY’s swing; fully accelerate the club head around the hands and lock them and and face of the club just as it picked up, compressed and delivered the ball. I incorporated the technique in my swing.

I Teddy, Like your reply alot! What does this mean, "fully accelerate the club head around the hands and lock them and and face of the club just as it picked up, compressed and delivered the ball." . . . you mean stop the hands at impact, can you explain? Most appreciated. Thanks.🙂
@TeddyCavachon
@TeddyCavachon Жыл бұрын
@@tuncan3015 Just take a club and waggle it up and down with just wrist action from address to horizontal and parallel to the point your wrists feel locked when you waggle all the way down to meet the ball. Adjust the club in the grip so the face is square at that point. The waggle action causes the club head to rotate 90° very quickly. The locking action which occurs when waggling the wrists all the way down brings face back to ball very predictably and consistently.

Chad I just started golfing again after almost a 2 year hiatus due to injuries. Full shoulder replacement in my right arm last year and lower back surgery 9 weeks ago this year. Played 3 full rounds and 1 (9) hole. Struggling so far but trying to imply the Jimmy V method along with the single plane. Trying to keep it simple and being thankful that I can still hit. Arm feels ok and my back is sore but healing. God Bless to you and yours

I dont think it's either. My intention is to bottom the club out in front of the ball, and I let my body figure out it's own way of creating that result.

Had a buddy who had Count Yogi’s practice mat. He brought it to the range every time and followed the lines on it. Pured everything...did the “set up” on the course before every shot. Yep, same result, beautiful golf shots. I finally figured it out.(As every pro keeps telling us!).Want to take your range game to the course? It’s no secret, have a pre-shot routine that you use at the range and use it on the course. Now, if I could make myself have a routine on the range...wellllll...😆

Sir, it is unfortunate that we were not able to view your ball position. That being said the Count Yogi swing with its almost entire mental approach is the final piece of the puzzle. Although you will not become an elite golfer you will certainly play at the peak of your personal ability each and every time. We are not striving for perfection we are trying for our personal best. It is called fun.

I think you found your sweet spot with the Wisdom in golf aporoach....but in typical human style you found a method that works great and thought..... i think i can make it better....i think you are in danger of disappearing down a rabbit hole and not being able to get out... Ive been there....ive been 6 months of shite golf because of this mind set....and i think it will be another 6 months for me to find my own swing again.....sometimes we need to accept that what we have may be our best.... I wish i had been able to accept this....id be in a much better place
@GolfTestDummy

I think about that often. Try to keep it in the front of my mind. My biggest takeaway from WIG is that the task and the swing is king. As long as I keep that as the sun in my solar system, I don't think I'm in trouble. Free swinging of the club, task oriented, external focus, intentions clear.

Only people who have followed Count Yogi, will know that answer. I first saw the Count's show in 1981 at Los Coyotes CC in Buena Park CA. Changed my life. I may be, at nearly 78, one of the last living students of The COUNT! Has been my only way of playing since....changed my golf life.

I just ran across this.Boy do I have a story for you guys then. I'm about sure I am the youngest living true student of Yogi at 55, it's kinda long but I knew him from a driving range in Northridge Ca that I lived across the street from. I helped him set up for the show every Sunday, he tought me and he would have me hit a few balls at the end, saying this young man is 7 years old and proof that anyone can learn. I even went to court with him and his son Harmond as as a witness to an assult that happend there, He was a great friend I loved him and has always been a big influence in my life.

@williammilne5843 I did say I'm the youngest, yes I still play and It's the only way I know how to play. I knew him very well he was a great friend despite the huge age difference he took me under his wing, I helped him set up his show, I placed all his clubs for it. Used to have to run out in the driving range and get his block of wood. It's great memories. He was a heck of a guy, quite full of himself but that was Yogi, loved the guy.
