Shocked at the jealous and pettiness in the comments here... This channel is among the best for watching real farmers engineer and fabricate, versus go buy what they need/want. Those projects pertain mostly to ag work...as they should; they're farmers not building contractors. With that in mind, they've done a helluva job at being general contractors too. Being raised on a farm with a similar work ethic, and now being age 71...it's great to see innovators/engineers, responsible farmers, sons/husbands/fathers...men of integrity; men of God are still at work. Leg Arms you owe no one here anything...you guys are the best. In regard to "Case/IH" commercials...the clang of jealousy sounds. KZfaq is another aspect of their business...sponsorship is a well earned perk. Case/IH could not do better than sponsor these guys.

Vents, maybe run wire back down pipe poked it out pipe inside, sealed those holes plugged in AC in attic, totally hid electric. Many ways I’m sure

I love when people complain about ads a 1 minute long ad isn’t a very big deal and shouldn’t be a problem your getting free videos to watch and it’s a very small price to pay for how much time and work goes into making a good KZfaq video for everyone to watch for free really stop complaining about it at least it’s not like cable tv 15 minutes of commercials in a 30 minute tv show it could easily become that one day so be grateful for the less than 1 minute ad to get this guy paid or some free stuff for the house he just built and cost him tons of money if your a true fan of someone’s channel you should honestly be very understanding about one dumb quick ad out of the hole video really can’t stand when people complain about someone deciding to do an ad remember KZfaq is a job and a very hard job for a good smaller channel getting paid / free stuff is how they are able to expand and make better videos to watch be grateful and happy we are able to watch for free still

We live in Saskatchewan and our farm house’s sewer stack would always freeze below about -25°C. The heat tape worked perfectly. The roof was steep and the stack was on the north side so it never got sun in the winter. Maybe a septic tank produces more vapour than a lagoon. Who knows🤷‍♂️

@@codyfrisch4378 I would make a 'box cover' to slip over the outlet box. I can think of too many reasons against a Bethlehem star or Christmas lights, but if you did want to plug something in for a longer period of time, have a taller and longer box that would protect the outlet and plug with the cord exiting from the bottom.

That is a good idea on putting heat rap around vent pipe, also having a electrical outlet on the roof great for installation of Christmas lights

Railing looks great! You did a great job explaining this, Sarah! If it were me, I would have run the boiler vents thru the rim joist. Shorter distance for less condensation. Plus easy access.

I am not sure the rim joist would be high enough off the ground in case of snow. Also not sure it would allow the vent to flow, down low like that if they have substantial winds which that part of the country has. Pretty sure a gable end or a roof exit was the only choice in this case. All of this is just an assumption

I love your ingenuity. The railing looks great.I did HVAC for 45 years before I retired. I absolutely hate concentric vents, they are always problematic. I would never run flue vents and combustion air through the roof in your climate. I would run them parallel to a soffit insulated and heat taped. If you terminate them so they get equal pressure from gusting winds the wind is not a factor. Also if you have any condensation blowing out of the flue it goes on the ground or the brick wall not on your metal roof.

The railing looks great! Yes, you probably could have figured it out, but you would probably have been living with the OSB for a while. I took a look at their website, sometimes it is better to go with people who have figured it out. They saved you the headaches and aggravation of trying to invent a wheel they already invented.

The railing looks great. But with a wire railing like that, and with little children, I'd be concerned they'd climb on the wires like a ladder and end up falling. We were both kids once Scott. I remember how much I climbed.
