In this type of scenario, I would head for a museum and just use a sword and a shield and full medieval armor.

Every time I watch a zombie movie, or play a zombie game, the Engineer in me wakes up and I can’t help but see ways to industrialize zombies. Just stick some in a few hamster wheels, hang some bait in front of them, and congrats, you have a near tireless supply of electricity. You can also power a mill in the same manner. A complex system of gears that power various bladed shredder traps and a conveyor belt that prevents them from piling up. Those are just the simple starting ideas before getting ambitious with crazy contraptions. And the possibilities are only limited by exactly how tireless zombies are!

When I was a military fire fighter they had a access tool which is like a Crowbar with three different prongs for busting into things including busting locks & security doors. Best melee weapon ever.

A quarterstaff with iron caps at the end, good leverage, long reach & no pointy end to get stuck in a zombie

a short blade for close combat probably a bowie knife as well as a katana. they are light and effective and swinging a heavy weapon 4 or 5 times while under stress can easily encumber you, it slows you down it makes you vulnerable.

This game is awesome, tons of potential. brings old vibes from gaming in the 90,s (love it). My favorite weapon so far is the shotgun type wich can use diferent amno to shoot.

I would choose a halberd, a pole and some scrap metal hammered in form and sharpened. Advantages in reach and easy to maintain, I would use a hatchet as sidearm tho.

Also, new here but it's very frustrating how you play xD It's definitely refreshing to see someone just play for fun. Enjoying what you play instead of just going after every checkpoint and every resource. Love it and makes me yell at my screen lol

In any survival situation, I choose a Halligan bar or breaching bar. The small axehead on both is good for small trees and splitting if you get a nice one

Sword, Michonne style. It's long so you don't have to get too close and it can slide right into an eye socket destroying the brain. If you are being swarmed, you can take limbs to give yourself some breathing room.

As a weapon for fighting zombies some sort of spear is the way to go keep them away from you then an axe and knife for building/cooking

Shortsword would be the weapon of choice here. It´s made to fight, so with proper care it would last way longer than an axe wich is made for chopping wood

A spear is so underrated is a slow moving TWD type scenario

I would want a spear, the length will serve to reduce potential contamination from blood spatter, zombies are slow moving and unarmoured so it will always penetrate and I can take my time to use it properly. Fairly easy to make so I can equip any survivors I find with relative ease.

Go to melee weapon for me would be a spiked bat and a shield. No need to worry about the edge orientation on a spiked bat and easy to get the force to damage their heads

I have a design for a weapon that mounts the top of a machete blade on a wood cutting axe handle. Gives you a little defense with your weapon as well as a lot of utility! Not to mention the reach to hit them before they can grab at you

Honestly , museum , plate armor and chainmail , and a shield and tridents. It has range and is easy to use

Possibly the best weapons and tools to get are a legit Fireman's Axe or a Halligan Tool! The Halligan is basically a crowbar on steroids that can get you into ANYWHERE that isn't a bank vault.

I've heard from multiple sources that the machete is the best melee weapon for the zombie apocalypse, since it's low upkeep, can take a licking, and is very easy to use. If I could have any weapon, I'd choose a spear or pike, since you get some range with it. And with the spear, it doubles as a range weapon.

Honestly.. I’d love to come across a lunar scythe/monk’s spade in a zombie survival game. It’d be an interesting nod to the Zombie Survival Handbook. As that was one of the weapons Max Brooks suggest in that book. So maybe you could find one in a museum or maybe some house that was once inhabited by a nerd or something. Or maybe not an official one. Maybe you could raid a farm and find some modification of farming tools that looked like the weapon. Also…. That’d be an interesting thing to add to a crafting system. A lot of weapons in the Middle Ages such as polearms and other things were modified from tools or items mean for other uses. That’s not just European medieval ages. A lot of cultures did similar things. Like a sick and chain or rope dart. I mean in games like dead island you can modify bats and other things. But, as fun as those games are the crafting is limited. I would love to see more in-depth crafting systems maybe even more open ended that give you the tools to do whatever . But that’s a lot to ask.

a machete. if there is a lack of electricity the machete can be a good melee weapon that does not weigh much and can help chopping dead shrubs etc to make fires. its best to not have a gun (unless its used in a severe emergency since sound travels and if i were to go to sleep they could be attracted to the sound of a gunshot earlier. the crow bar i probably wouldnt carry because doors etc are easy enough to kick it. it is the zombie appocalypse after all i shouldnt have to worry about law enforcement bothering me getting to safety or tryin to find food or clothing etc.

I would choose a combat bow and arrow because I can shoot some distance with out being detected by a zombie and being quick and quiet and I don’t need too carry extra weight for getting ammunition and I don’t need to be worried of being too loud or I hate to find a gun supresser and finding ammunition in that position is difficult than crafting a bow is not too difficult, if you have tree sap or string that is made wrapped with dried strong leaves strips and a small camping knife and saw.

I'd build a forge and collect scrap metal to make medival amor using a dive suit used for swimming with great whites for the joints with a shield sword and recurve bow and of course a world War 2 k bar as a side weapon because it had a spike similar to a railroad spike on the hilt which was used to puncture German helmets which means its the perfect weapon against zombies

I think Axe is just the go to one. It's perfect for melee handling and had multiple uses.
