Looking back at the career of Joe Sakic.
Joe Sakic's NHL career unfolded amidst two of the fiercest rivalries of his era. Before donning the burgundy and blue of the Colorado Avalanche and facing the Red Wings, Sakic cut his teeth in the Battle of Quebec, where the Nordiques clashed with the Montreal Canadiens.
Includes NHL highlights, Joe Sakic highlights, Colorado Avalanche highlights, Quebec Nordiques highlights, Montreal Canadiens highlights, Stanley Cup Finals highlights, Detroit Red Wings highlights

"I remember when I was in Detroit, Sean Avery stood up as Joe Sakic was skating by our bench. Sean was a young, enthusiastic hockey player who was well liked by us old guys, and as you might know, was known for trash talking. But when he stood up and yelled, “Hey Sakic!” Brett Hull grabbed him by the back of his sweater and yanked him down on the bench. Then he said, and I’ll never forget this, “You are not allowed to speak to Mr. Sakic.” And then Sean looked down the bench at the rest of the boys and we all just sort of nodded." That is I believe a quote from Brendan Shanahan, at that time a member of Detroit Red Wings. I think that says it all!

Sakic was my favourite player growing up. I modelled my game after him in minor hockey. Great video!

You forgot to talk about the Swift Current Broncos bus crash which may had an impact on Sakic's mental toughness and was an important event of his career.

Sakic was better than Yzerman in my opinion. He was clutch and especially in the playoffs. Yzerman always got injured or tanked on the ice during the playoffs.
