I don't own a BMW but I moved by your DIY passion that I started doing things on my own to my car. Changing engine oil, transmission fluid, transmission filter, and other simple fix it is easier than most people expect. Also makes you 'connect' better with your car, knowing you service it well and it performs as well as you maintain them.

When I don't see any video from you, I feel like something is missing in my life. Great video as always.

Very much appreciated a return of OG streten, showing that he is a little crazy and like me shouts at inanimate objects, and the ride hide torquing with the transmission jack was a great tip, as I'm sure like many I don't have a 4 post ramp, keep it up my friend

I did this to my E46 330ci convertible, now I have one of the only pre LCI 6-speed manuals. Easily the best upgrade ever.

It's interesting to see him share his struggles while removing components - normally don't see that detail in this category. Makes the rest of us feel less stupid. He's an amazing mechanic!

Manual swapping my E38 was the best thing I ever did. Then, putting the Alpina 4.6 in it was the second best. Save The Manuals by making more manuals!

Ones again a phenomenal project and something many have dreamed of. I remember the E38 750IL manual transmission from the movie transporter and always thought, that's the way to go. A remark for your OE(M) look, radiators and air-conditioning from factory are mostly painted black. With all your effort to "hide" your work, the unpainted radiators stand out. Good to see project Rottweil again! I myself have an E39 touring with the M54B30 paired to a 5MT. Unfortunately, I found out that one of the previous owners had overheated the engine and the head gasket blew on me big time. I fixed it and resurfaced the head, but made a STUPID mistake installing an aftermarket fan shroud and coolant reservoir. The new shroud, new reservoir and stock coolant pipes wouldn't really fit into each other. I couldn't get the C clip seated on both sides on one of the coolant pipes. Not my brightest moment to call that fine. 800km after the fix, I hit a big bump on the road, which had disconnected that hose. I didn't get a low coolant level light as I have quite the electrical problems, but I managed to shutoff the engine within 10 seconds of the temp needle starting to rise. After that the head gasket blew on me again. Due to an upcoming Dutch "TUV" inspection, I have to temporarily write the car off the road. But I do believe that M54 engines are solid engines. My cylinder bores looked really good for 350k on the odo and she still had good torque (for the 800km in between disasters). It is such a shame that KNOWN cooling problems can end an M54. I am going rebuild the engine and resurface the block as well this time (as you should with aluminium blocks).

Sreten's ability to not only make seemingly "boring" car repairs and modifications super interesting, but also bombarding us with knowledge, including tips and tricks for people interested in doing similar swaps and modifications is truly amazing.

I am not sure what's more fun - driving this car or watching you singing and screaming while wrenching around it. Really good vibes from video, I am so happy to see you being passionate about that :)

Please dont install a Mahle thermostat, I had 3 and they were all stuck open. My friend had to swap out two and then he got a Wahler. I advise you to buy an original part, which is like 40€ more compared to the Mahle and Wahler units. The difference between the original one and aftermarket one is clearly visible. You can find quite alot of info online about Mahle thermostats being absolute junk and alot of people experienced them stuck open from the box.

Your attention to detail and doing things the right way and properly is always satisfactory to watch in all your video uploads. Outstanding knowledge and it goes to show that you do thorough research before taking such JOBS head ON. Thumbs up Streten and we appreciate you sharing your knowledge 👍 😀

I love the clutch & brake rubber pedal covers.. they used the exact same ones from at least the early '70s (not sure how much further back than that they might go?) thru the end of the F-chassis cars - the '21 F87 M2 Comp being the last to get them. That's one helluva run and makes them an iconic item!

Once again, the KZfaq video quality bar keeps getting higher. These videos pushed me to get a lift in my garage. I never considered the lead time lol. In a month I’ll have the ability to wrench for real. Thanks again. Never stop the torque wrench clicks. It’s like a drug I need it

One conversion that a lot of people want to do to their cars but are unable to due to different circumstances (lack of a manual that can fit easily, lack of skill, lack of money, etc). Your videos get better with each episode. Excellent work on the car and on the content. Respect :)

Great video! Remember PTFE seals go in dry and you have to wait 3-6 hours for it to shrink, but you can use e36 m3 3.2 rear main seal on m54 it's normal with the spring inside and no waiting time. Keep up the perfection!

Having done a manual swap on my E39 525i around 10 years ago I watched your steps very closely. The way you did it is just perfect and there is nothing more to say.

I've done 2 Manual Swaps on my E39 528 and E60 M5, but Sreten's level of precision and attention to detail is something else!
