Something I really like about the reveal at the end of this game: We only call Sissel’s ability to manipulate objects “ghost tricks” because that’s what “Ray”/Missile told him they were called. He’s a dog, so he thinks of it as doing a “trick”.

I didn't catch this ten years ago, but Sissel saying that the submarine got up "on its hind legs" is a totally normal thing for a natural biped to say.

There are a lot of twists in this one, but really there are only two things you need to understand: 1. Sissel is just a little guy. 2. Everything we do, we do for Missile.

I wasn't prepared for Sissels true identity. I normally do not care about twists such as this. but for some reason, this time I was BAWLING my eyes out.

I had to say goodbye to my darling cat a couple of months ago (fuck cancer) and I just got a memorial tattoo for her last week. I'm not ready for another cat yet; but seeing Joy and Olive, and hearing Julia and Jacob talk about them, that's nice. The game's nice, too, actually. Sissel was loved in both lives.

I was wondering if Julia remembered that final twist. Knowing that she remembered, but thought she misremembered, makes so much sense. I know when I played this game, I was still recovering from the emotional roller coaster of events just prior, and then that twist came in out of nowhere and threw me for a goddamn LOOP.

That is so insane that a youth camp NEEDS SECURITY! Those idiots threatening them are just evil monsters 🤬

*_SPOILERS_* so if my interpretation of the ending is correct, with the cat having remained a kitten for ten years and switching into trick mode where you could see it had that aura, it's implying that he was hit by a meteor fragment (possibly he was the first time too, or possibly only now that the timeline has been altered) so his body is a "shell" like yomiel's, but with no revenge plot and no malicious ghosts out there, it's just him as an immortal cat with ghost powers. and I'm kinda surprised that put that _before_ the credits if they weren't going to return to it later to confirm it.

40:08, It's going to vary from sub to sub, but if that one is anything like the ones I worked on, that steam is pressurized high enough to cut straight through you. And hot enough to cauterize the wound. Still, pretty impenetrable. If you tried to just walk through it, you'd come out the other side in pieces. Cauterized pieces. So you got that going for you.

Welcome to the end of one of my favorite games! Now y'all know why it made me cry when I first played it! It gives me a lot of thoughts about the 'tabula rasa', the idea that people are born as blank slates that are neither 'good' nor 'bad', and influenced by their surroundings. The main character was a blank slate at the start of the story, not knowing anything, but with only the smallest push, they turned their face toward kindness and love. They claim their whole goal was just to find their memory, but there were so many occasions where they could've walked away, left people to their fates to continue the investigation. But no, every time, they turned back the clock and saved people. They went from blank slate to hero in one night, because their soul is good. Because all souls have the ability to be good when given a nudge. Also, Missile is the *best dog in video games*. It's a contentious title, but the boyo earns it.

SPOILER DISCUSSION AHEAD 》 . . . When we learned that the "man in red" wasn't actually Sissel's body, I wholeheartedly predicted that Sissel was actually just, like, a bug that got squashed when Lynne shot Yomiel or something. I like his actual identity so much more though, wahhh

Yams are monocots, meaning they're distantly related to things like lilies and grass. Whereas sweet potatoes are a kind of morning glory, which makes it distantly related to tomatoes and potatoes. They're completely unrelated plants, but they just happen to produce similar root vegetables, so they get mixed up a lot. Also, there's both purple yams and purple sweet potatoes to add to the confusion. A lot of people buy purple sweet potatoes thinking they're buying Ube and are disappointed, because Ube is purple yam, not purple sweet potato

At the end, I actually got really teary. This play through got me to buy the game and play through it myself and I really enjoyed the whole journey.

All these years later, this is still my favorite game of all time. The writing, the art, the characters, and all the incredible foreshadowing... It's all just perfect to me. Big big huge spoilers for just a tiny selection of all the little hints... ----- Lynne says she likes hiding in tiny dark spaces. Sissel says he understands that urge. Sissel hears the screech of a guitar and thinks it's a way for young creatures to communicate base needs like hunger. Looking at a microscope, Sissel thinks it might be a huge nail clipper. Sissel doesn't know what darkness is. But my favorite sneaky detail is that NINE LIVES were saved by Sissel throughout the game: Lynne, Missile, Officer Rindge, Jowd, the Justice Minister, the Park Guardian, Cabanela, the Professor, and Yomiel. It's all a huge love letter to pets and how much good they do for their people. I will always give my utmost thanks to Shu Takumi for immortalizing how much he adores his dog, so all of us can adore him as well!

This ending got to me way more than I thought it would... I miss my little black cat! 😭

⚠️SPOILERS for both ghost trick and ace attorney⚠️ Cryptic TL;DR: “Meow! Meow! Don’t forget Temsik!” (if you understand this line then you know what comparison I’m about to make) Ok so I’ve been on the edge of my seat for Julia and Jacob to reach the last few twists so I could post this comparison! The dots I’ve connected: Yomiel is weirdly similar to Yanni Yogi from Ace Attorney case 1-4. With both games being directed by Shu Takumi it can’t be a coincidence. I think the ideas just stayed in his brain and he reused them for GT with more of a supernatural twist. Which is 100% fair because the ideas are gold - So we’ve got this tragic character central to the mystery, whose identity is a big spoiler because of the way the mystery is structured - Ever since that mysterious incident all those years ago, he has existed in a miserable state, isolated and bitter, his old life gone forever. (And granted, he did act like a huge jerk during the incident, but ultimately an external factor was what screwed everything up) - After the incident, his fiancée ended her life because she thought he was gone. In his grief, he named a pet after her. (This was what made me think to compare them, it’s just so specific) - One of the people he (unfairly) blames for his fate is the deuteragonist of the game, who was involved in the incident as a child. All these years later, he tries to get revenge on this character by luring them to an isolated location and framing them for murder - name start with Y

Sissel’s ghost tricks make SO MUCH SENSE in the context of his true identity! Knocking down objects and messing with stuff? It’s so good.

I was too curious and couldn't wait so already watched the VOD on twitch but I want to support Khaz's hordogs ✊ also yhis game rules (spoliers:) with how weird and twisty it is, you really don't expect to be hit in the feels, and then all the ending reveals hit you like a truck. the way it keeps getting crazier even while we're halfway through the ending too? the way the frickin entire game rurns out to be the world's best setup for s Schroedinger's cat joke? also I love the attention to detail and how pretty much every question gets answered. I honestly would've accepted some stuff as not that important or gameplay quirks (like the tutorial lamp, Sissel being a bit stupid, even the ghosts existing and working the way they do, etc). they have s reason for all of those and that's really cool to me

So glad you guys finished, this has always been one of my favorite games and probably has my favorite ending of any game it's just such a lovely cascade of delightful twists. Also this game plays so wonderfully different knowing all he twists because it was clearly written with the whole plot in mind.
