Tom Jones is Welsh and he is a SIR...he's been knighted. He's also MY "SECRET boyfriend" for many decades. SO secret in fact that in mosf cases he only knows me as the defendant who is caught lurking by his windows that his wife of over 60 years keeps catching! LOL! Hey...don't anybody judge my undying passion folks. I AM nothing if not dedicated to the cause ok? Besides stalker is such a dirty word. 😅

@Michael Weil It's well known throughout the UK that the Welsh have a love for singing and I say this as an Englishman.Watch the film Zulu and it promotes what is well known about Welsh people. They've always had lots of choirs,a lot to do with coal mining and the camaraderie they shared through very hard times. If you ever get to see a rugby game against Wales and England, you'll see their passion.

Those singers from the 40's, 50's 60's and 70's had no auto tune to help them enhance their vocals...It was just pure talent, and Sir. Tome Jones is part of that great legacy. This was back in 1967 live onstage in front of a television audience. Just like Bobby Hatfield of the 'Righteous Brothers' when he sang the monster classic 'Unchained Melody' in 1965.

Tom Jones was Elvis's favourite singer and he would turn up at Tom's concerts in Las Vegas every night to sing with him or just to listen. Basically Tom has sung with everyone you could think of and always held his own which isn't bad for a bricklayers labourer from South Wales. The man who wrote this song was called Lonnie Donegan and a couple of years ago his son went of the TV show "The Voice" where Tom is a judge and they end up singing this song together and believe me if this version broke you that one will leave you in total turmoil.

@Seamus Lannon settle down buddy, i didn't mean to trigger you that heavily and hurt your feelings, I thought about Elvis while I was commenting The operative word was 'SUNG' though when it comes to Elvis he didnt need to sing, they were queued up to lose their panties Pull your head in mate, no need to get so aggressive

This dude went down in history as being one of the first singers women threw panties on the stage at him when he sang to wipe off his seat. Started with one woman, then turned into a thing more would do.

A singer that makes me cry like this is crazy. I listened to him back in the 60s he's always been amazing. He will be missed now that he has passed. So sad such a loss. Listen to him singing it in 2020, still amazing.

@@EClark-nu5nr You guys are deaf. He absolutely CANNOT sing like this anymore. He's still amazing but it's impossible to have that kind of power he did in his prime. Imo, the greatest male popular singer ever!

@@abc456f Well, I admit my hearing may have grown worse over the years, but doesn't affect the fact that to me he sounds the same as when I heard him as a kid in the 60s. My brother used to have his records and I would listen to them.
@abc456f

@@EClark-nu5nr I didn't mean literally deaf but to say he sounds EXACTLY the same is ludicrous. I have many cd's of his and have watched many performances on KZfaq, and I've seen him sing on "the Voice." His current singing ability is nowhere near what it was. He still had it in his fifties and even sixties, but when he got into his seventies, the decline was clearly obvious. It's not a knock on the man, I consider him the greatest male popular singer ever. But just like he can't dance like he did, neither can he sing. Let's be real, please. It happens to all of them. Paul McCartney, Elton John...they can't hit the high notes anymore and they tend to speak alot of the lyrics to get around the fact that their voices are showing their age. I love Tom Jones and always will. But I'm not so blinded by my admiration of his talent that I refuse to admit the obvious, he DOES NOT sound exactly the same.

@@abc456f With all due respect and civility meant to you, 1) we're talking about a recording here. So it's ENTIRELY plausible that he sounds today as he did 20 or thirty years ago. Depending, of course, on when the recording was first played. 2) You're taking this entirely way too literally. It's physically IMPOSSIBLE to sound EXACTLY as you did even five minutes ago let alone 20 or 30 years, and you're talking about memories, not exactly a science. So all I'm saying that in my mind he sounds exactly as he did when I was a kid. Fair enough?

Tom Jones NEVER gave a half-hearted performance. This is another great one; a song I actually had never heard before. It IS beautifully sad. You should listen to his song "Delilah." There are two versions on KZfaq. The original, in the 1960's, and the one he did at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012. It's a live performance and even 40 years later, his voice is as powerful as it ever was. An amazing man.
