Thank you for demoing and comparing these two new highlighters. I thank you especially for showing swatches outside in daylight. I was very confused by Sephora reviews for the Rare Beauty highlighter formula because many said it was super glittery whereas others said there was no perceptible glitter. Thanks to you, I now know for sure. As a result, I ordered the CT. Thanks again!

Its definitely hard to catch the glitter on camera so i ran outside at the slightest bit of sun poking around haha. My neighbors were probably thinking... "there she goes again doing weird crap" but i am happy i got the shot. Its too difficult to explain otherwise.❤️

To be honest.... me neither hahaha. But the rsre beauty one got so much attention and I wanted to review a CT highlighter so i ended up with both. For a review its useful to have both. I don't think I would have picked up both if I wasnt a review channel. Between you and me... i actually thought rare beauty was going to win but i am pleasantly surprised at CT

Great comp! Def from your swatch CT is more skin like. I picked up Rare on a whim but I find I have to dampen my sponge to get it to set in. I do love it as an eyeshadow though for a wet nudie look. They’re both good and both have their own pros and cons.

Champagne glow doesn't hold that yellow as much as some of my products. If you have ever tried the filmstar bronze n glow highlighter its verh similar in tone. I usually hate ivory highlighters which is why i didnt buy moonlit glow.

I got the shade Moonlit Glow and the pan moves no matter how lightly I dip my brush in! It’s driving me nuts! 😂 Other brands with refillable compacts don’t have this issue! But I love the highlighter. Though I wish it was cleaner like the Rare Beauty one.

What am I missing - why would anyone mind talc or mica?😅 Love this highlighter video🎉🎉❤
@sonia.butler
@sonia.butler Жыл бұрын
Mica is a controversial product. If sourced incorrectly its been linked to child labour. So its an ethics issue. Although its difficult to know how it is sourced before it gets to product development. So it doenst have to mean this CT mica was sourced from such a place, but some people move away from mica all together for this reason. Unless its synthetic mica like Lush has in their products. Talc can be known to cause respiratory problems if contaminated with asbestos. I wont go into details to much cause it will be long and boring but there is a HBO docu called Not So Pretty that goes into it. I know some people like to stay away from it and i get it. My son gets talc free products. I am still on the fence but for now my makeup isnt talc free.

I like the rare beauty one better. It applies more smoothly on my skin. The CT one seems to apply a bit dry? Like the brush it’s not picking it up well, I don’t even know how to explain 😑 when applied it’s also way harder to blend than the rare beauty one.

Hi! I am happy the demo can help people either way! Its not necessarily about picking a winner for me but to make sure people have all the information i can give them with a demo to make a choice if they were interested in either of them. The rare beauty one is stunning but a little to glittery and very powerful for my personal preferences. But i totally get why people would enjoy yhe rare beauty one more. Its a stunning highlight formula and they did such a good job. Its also so nice to touch haha.

Thank you for responding! ❤️

Sonia, your three favourite brands are ones I haven't tried nor are remotely interested in. I feel swamped by Charlotte Tilbury, Lisa Eldridge and Victoria Beckham. The last two aren't that easy to purchase from Australia unless I want to import them and I have no wish to waste all those resources on bringing them in from the other side of the world. There's nothing that CT has that is of interest either. I prefer to buy products that are easily accessible from where I live. I've gone completely off Chanel, except for their mascaras and eye make-up remover. At Christmas, I purchased my fist ever PML Motherships during her insane Sale and one for 50% off at Sephora. Whilst watching a video of another's rankings for 2022, I decided to do some calculations. To have bought all four Chanel Tweeds at 2gm of content each Quad and 8gm in total for all four would have cost AU$580.00. I purchased five Pat McGrath Motherships for the grand price of AU$585.00 with far in excess of this measly content in just one! It really drove it home how much Chanel is overcharging. They also started bringing out those ridiculously oversized items that we'd never get through in several lifetimes. The increased the price of those smaller lipsticks from approx. AU$62.00 to $82.00 despite the fact that both YSL and Dior brought out very pigmented lipsticks too but never raised the price. Why you would want to show Chanel Quads that are the most expensive eye-shadow on the market for the tiny bit of content is a mystery. It's simply not worth it when there are some great brands that are far better quality and price. I spent last year trying brands I haven't tried before and was rather impressed by what I found. You've got two excellent Indie Brands right near you in Oden's Eye and Lethal Cosmetics whose quality surpasses Chanel. I'd much rather see you save your money and try some different Brands instead. I was most impressed by the NARS Stargaze Eye Palette and Cheek Palette, ABH Nouveau and Rose Metals Palettes, I just purchased my second ND Palette in Sunrise, three By Terry Eye Palettes, even picked up some NYX products that had been halved in price, the five Motherships and the brand that impressed me the most was Burberry. I picked up their Monogram Holiday Eye Palette with 20gm of content for only AU$120.00, when a Dior Quint containing 7gm sells for AU$121.00! If you're wishing to save money, if I was you, I'd be trying out other brands and comparing them. When you mention Lisa Eldridge, Victoria Beckham, Charlotte Tilbury and Chanel, it's enough to put me to sleep. There's nothing exciting between any of these brands. Dior did come out with some great releases last year, but it will depend on what you purchase. I realise you like an understated look, but your viewers may wish to see something slightly more exciting and colourful. I suffer from excessively dry lips and have to be very careful what lipsticks I use. The majority of those liquid lipsticks are very drying and leave a flat matte look which doesn't do my lips well at all. If you want to attract viewers to your Channel, the brands you've chosen to stay with are not going to excite many people. Our problem in Australia is obtaining much content from overseas brands and very much overlooked. You're right in the thick of where all of the big brands are available and curious as if you can get anyone to bring these products in for you? If you had contacts in the UK or France, it would make things so much easier. You're going for the most expensive brands available at a time when we simply can't afford to purchase these brands and are heavily cutting back. The cost of living is only going to rise and people aren't as invested in these very expensive luxury brands any more. If anything, this is the best time to cut back and try some different Brands, even Indie Brands that are far more interesting. It's strange that I can import a By Terry Eye Palette from the UK but you can't obtain these products in the Netherlands. I sometimes watch the Channel of Nikki Raven who is in the Netherlands and has quite alot of content to show. Maybe you could contact her to find out how she obtains her products. Have you tried importing from the US stores instead, if you can't get products from the UK? There will always be a fine balance between what you like to use and what your viewers may wish to see. Best of luck, Kris.🇦🇺💖🕊💐

Hi Kris! So much to unpack. I knew you would probably not enjoy the brands I chose. 🙈After 1.5 years of doing YT these are the 6 brands that do incredibly well on my channel. The most views, the most engagement. Each video is very timely so brands that dont do well on my channel i have to dissmiss from an investment perspective. I sometimes like to joke its been 1.5 years of marketing research. There is a personal aspect to my resolutions that i wont bore you with in this comment section but i have put a lot of thought into. Keeping in mind my largest audience is in the US. 30%! My smallest audience is in Europe. I dont have an audience in Africa from what i can tell. If i cannot obtain a certain brand on my own. I do not want to be dependent on anybody when it comes to my channel. Its an unnecessary stress factor for me to rely on others to be able to review something. I love to try more brands but i need to cut back somehow. If my resolutions dont sit well with my audience i can always change the brands i review. If i stop enjoying a brand, i will replace it. As long as it is fun for me and the audience. If there is a launch i would love to try outside these brands i will buy it. I am not on a no buy. But i gotta spend wisely. Setting these restrictions might help me keep myself in check. Ps i thought about your offer on getting the burberry palette but its ok. I am going to pass on the offer. If it isnt available to me its not meant to be.
