It makes sense that the Crime Syndicate's heavy hitters aren't quite as sharp as the Justice League's since they rule through fear and don't get into as many tough fights.

I love James Woods as Owlman And also his demise when he says "it doesn't matter" it really doesn't because the implication is that another Earth had just been created from this choice, one he stopped it and one where he didn't which may be what we're seeing, and so what of he did try to stop it, he'd just be stuck on a frozen Earth At least that's what I took away from it

Whole point is nihilism vs. hope. Owlman comes from a world where everything turns bad, wrong and / or evil. Batman comes from a world where future CAN be better. As hard as Bruce´s life is, he would never want another because he believes he can create better tomorrow trough effort and inspire others to do the same.

Fun fact: This movie's original script was going to be used for the Justice League animated series, but it was scrapped because the show had already done a different parallel earth story before. It was going to explain how we got from the first two seasons to the Justice League Unlimited seasons.

The Flash in this film is not Barry Allen, it is Wally West, Barry's successor, in the film's end credits Josh Keaton is credited as the voice of Flash / Wally West

@@ItsLynch1 That's not true, he's only credited as Flash. Justice League Doom is the sequel to this movie and it states that he's Barry. Although when the script was written it was intended to be Wally as it was originally in the DCAU.

Each villain from the evil earth has a hero counterpart. The 3 lightning guys are the shazam family, the girl with the lantern powers is Halo, the break dancing dude is Vibe, the stretchy guy is Elongated Man, the guy with the afro is Black Lightning, the girl who hypnotized Flash is Dreamer, the girl who could change into animals is Vixen, the girl with scarf over her head is Gypsy, and the guy with the leather vest and hat is Lobo

Even if it is another world, the essence of being a superhero is to get into other people's business just to save lives. Where there are lives to be saved, a hero is needed. If a “hero” says that they don’t care about millions of people dying, and they have the power to rescue them, then they don’t deserve to be called a hero.

Nerd alert: It's actually not Barry who's the Flash here. Back when the Justice League cartoon was still airing on TV, there was meant to be a TV film with a story similar to this one, meant to transition between the original Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited. That got scrapped, and this movie was basically a revised version of that. Why is that relevant? Well, in the Justice League cartoon, it was Wally West who was actually the Flash at the time, and he's a bit more of a jokester, compared to Barry Allen. Now, they never say one thing or another about the Flash's identity in this movie, but as this was a reworked version of the cancelled TV film, and the Flash here isn't quite as sharp as Barry, with Barry being a crime scene investigator, and this movie's Flash telling a lot more jokes, it's heavily implied, and it's pretty safe to assume that this movie's Flash is Wally West, and NOT Barry Allen.

Owlman is actually Thomas Wayne Jr. Batman’s long lost insane older brother. On this Earth, he killed his parents and brother so he could inherit the fortune and rule the criminal empire.

it is actually never officially stated that this version of owlman is thomas wayne jr. There isn't real evidence either way. And if he is he wouldn't have the origin you just stated because that origin was created for the new 52 which came after this movie. Thomas wayne Jr's origin when this movie came out is the same as batman's except his brother bruce was also killed (and his dad later turned out to be alive). Instead of fighting crime he decided it made more sense to control crime and so became a crime lord with the help of Boss James Gordon.

Animated movies work best since they get to tell their own stories and they don't need any other movie to exist while live action is expected to have build ups and an entire connected universe. We never get simple Superhero movies anymore.

I do like this film for introducing interesting ideas like whether life truly matters when infinite other lives exist, and Owlman has a really interesting motivation. I also do like all the different iterations of characters in this film, especially the idea of Deathstroke being the President... crazy. I was wondering if you'd consider reacting to films like Superman vs The Elite (2012), Green Lantern First Flight (2009), or Superman and Batman: Apocalypse (2010) etc...

But on top of that, ponder these three sentences: You and your universe could only come from Big Bang A. A near-identical universe would come from Big Bang B. Big Bang B can't produce you. _"and Owlman has a really interesting motivation."_ Yes, but he's an idiot. Because all nihilists are since everything matters. Plus, Owlman said X would be the only action to have "purpose". "Purpose" is a myth so he's a double idiot. _"I also do like all the different iterations of characters in this film, especially the idea of Deathstroke being the President... crazy."_ Personally I like to picture the Jester was in love with his therapist (Dr. Charlene Quinn?) who named the monkey "Harlequin" before she died in some Owlman-caused tragedy.

And if that woman dressed like greek warrior was Wonder Woman's counterpart why wasn't she in the meeting room with the rest of the big bads there. Lastly they're in an alternate universe of course there are some counterparts that don't look the same or share the same name. I was just trying to point out that Batman & Wonder Woman have the hots for each other.

The 'Owls being an archenemy of Batman' idea being popular enough to eventually create the Court of Owls too. Lots of great ideas in this concept and I'm sad we didn't get to see more mirror universe 'villains'. Maybe they could have asked Lightseid for help, but he's probably too busy searching the universe for the Anti-Death equation. I strongly recommend trying Gotham Knight and Return of the Joker.

A little trivia, this movie was originally supposed to be a bridge movie to connect the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited cartoons, seeing how Wonder Woman gets her invisible jet for example. but this movie obviously making changes like Hal Jordan Green Lantern in this film instead of John Stewart Green Lantern

@Devv who knows why they made that change, it always comes down to either Hal or John when it comes to Green Lantern, sometimes they would bring both in, but at least it isn't Guy Green Lantern. And like I said it was originally a bridge movie so this has nothing to do with the cartoons, and it isn't just Green Lantern they also went with Classic Aqua Man in this movie instead of the Justice League cartoon where he has that harpoon hook for a hand

Interesting thing about the script for this movie, which it was made to be more in line with the Animated Movie canon, this originally started as a script for a midway point between the DCAU's Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.

Despite popular belief, owls raerly hunt bats. Owls are ambush predators and their stealth tactics are almost useless against the bat's echolocation. Bats worst enemies are hawks and falcons since they're so fast that it dosen't matter if a bat sees them coming or not.

The Killing Joke the comic is influential but controversial, but the animated version of Killing Joke is just straight up bad. Strongly not recommended. You want a good Batman animated movie? Batman vs TMNT.

This one of three of Dwayne McDuffie movies that he written before he died. He written this movie the justice league doom and all star superman. You should watch that one next. McDuffie did static shock and the justice league animated series. What made him so great was he made the superheroes more human in the shows.

Owlman is the big brother of bruce and owlman was the only one who survived that night He did have the no kill role at first but I forgot why exactly he snaps .

12:16 Jimmy Olsen is the photographer that works with Clark in the daily planet, it seems like he got super powers with drugs so he is a made men like the others, really sad that Supes had to beat him

This is my fav animated DC movie, followed closely by Batman Year One. If you watch The Killing Joke, SKIP the first 30 minutes: that half hour ruins the context of the real story

This version of superwoman is based on Mary marvel. Her made men are the other members of the marvel/ Shazam family: Captain marvel, captain marvel Jr and captain marvel sr. This makes Wonder Woman the only member of the justice league not to have her counterpart in the core of the crime syndicate.

I kind of love this movie more than any other superhero team up. Imagine if this whole script was a live action film and it was sequel to a live action justice league doom film.

When there were rumors there might be a Superman game by Rocksteady (the Arkham games) and people were doubting you could make it I pictured it a bit like this: You're Clark Kent just doing your thing, stuff goes down, you end up on parallell Earth where "the Syndicate" has gradually been taking over with (among other things) green Kryptonite-powered technology and Warwolf clones. Lex Luthor is your guiding voice on the radio and you work with the few surviving heroes from the Justice Underground and a couple non-powered villains with a grudge against the Syndicate.

This was supposed to be a movie for TV between Justice League TV show and Justice League Unlimited. But it took so long to make they changed it to a standalone movie. Give the TV show a watch, after Batman TAS it is quite possibly best adaptation of DC comics to screen. It gets the characters right.
