She thought she lost him twice. She had to go through that feeling twice! 😭

Despite the raw design improvements of the older Astrid, her emotions in the first film feel more expressive. Her body language, the level of movement, the transition from sorrow to shock. HTTYD2 felt much… less. Then again, my heart would be shot to pieces if I had to go through nearly losing the one I loved twice. It rings almost like desensitisation

I never realized the animation changed that much for Astrid

The amount of parallels in this trilogy was and is astounding.

Damn how did I never realized how much of a facelift Astrid got?

It feels as if stoic had finally lost everything, and Valka had lost everything again and can’t barely losing both she loves at the same time

The fact that Valka cared so much about Hiccup afer only spending a couple days with him again it shows that his mother will always love him forever

Don’t get me wrong the parallel’s are amazing but it’s also great to see how the animation quality has improved from the first to second film such as the very fine hairs and attention to detail that you can see on the second Astrid

It’s crazy how old httyd is. These movies were my childhood and I almost cried when hiccups dad died. 😭

Am I the only that noticed the animation looks a lot better in the second movie and the other movies than in the first one?

I just realised: In the first movie it was Stoic, hiccup’s father, that was by hiccup’s side grieving. In the next movie it was Valka, hiccup’s mom… We won’t get a shot of them both 😭 Edit: I wanna delete this comment and edit it to say “Now you’ll never know why I have so many likes.” But that’s mean, and I like my comment. So oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️

Stoic dying is just the worst part of watching part 2. We knew it had to happen but damn, that man could catch no break. He lost his wife to a dragon, almost lost his son to dragons and died protecting both. It's too sad that it had to be in the hands of toothless in front of his wife and son.

Program art styles change mainly because now they like to put every little hair in and control them in a rig

Astrid’s eyes were lighter in the first movie and her lips have become a little bigger and her nose has so much details they really improve there work

I love how good the animation became she looks so realistic

In first time, we can see she was worried cause she has feeling for him. But we know that these feelings she had for him intensified, becoming love. That's why in the second time, we can see that her concern is on another level by her expression. I love this detail.

theres actually a third parallel. First in HTTYD when it's Stoick leaning over hiccup, second in HTTYD 2 when it's Valka leaning over Stoick, and lastly in HTTYD 2 when Valka goes to the ice where Hiccup and Toothless were trapped. 🙃❤️

This is the perfect example of sometimes focusing too much on detail doesn’t hit as hard As well as a great testament to how much she’s grown Ignoring all the different animation advancements and just looking at Astrid’s eyes The top video doesn’t have her eyes quite so bright The dark blue black over powers the light blue that’s overly present in the lower vid And that vid focuses a lot of the reflection Despite the top image being in a place with more light to be reflected This could be seen as a animation difference or how Astrid was more lost in the past in the moment of realising hiccup was in the ice But either way it brings less attention to her eyes and more to her whole face which shows a much deeper pain then the lower vid And going back to animation differences and time passing Astrid finally looks Nordic Viking like in the top image Not like she wasn’t already but her facial features are less cartoon like And In the sense of the movies it feels like she grew up into her face And as a final note It really does feel like Astrid grew up That she didn’t want Hiccup to die but was ready for if that event came to pass She would’ve been heartbroken and grieving but she would’ve moved on and likely tried to take charge in Hiccup’s place to try and fill his role

It's kinda cool to see the differences from her older self. Her eyebrows got thinner, her face more round or filled in, nose and mouth are bigger, eyes are deeper blue (could be lighting), and she lost her freckles (also could be lighting). And the hair style, of course.

Y'all know what's sad is the live action version is going to suck. Also once again they feel the need to race swap characters...
