I was an early adopter as they offered a lifetime license and was sick of Adobes subscription costs, since then any decent extension or new feature they add they sting you more money for, its fine if your ok with that but its left a pretty bad taste in my and many others mouths so just be aware one time fee doesnt mean that, especislly if you want the future enhancements

I bought in heavily to Luminar and Luminar Neo. But I've completely abandoned the company because of their refusal to fix problems that they've had for years. Its also the slowest software I've ever used. I don't think Luminar is really trying to do anything other than develop novel AI tools in hopes of either going public with a big SPAC or selling off to another company.

Aurora was great. Until support was dropped. I don’t understand how this company can make great things then abandon them or not polish/finish them. The comments here are exactly what I expected.

Todd, super appreciate the video. I will say that lots of the adjustments that were made can be tough to appreciate after KZfaq does its thing, except when you toggle it; that helps!

Neo is getting better and better, yet I bought it a while ago but I am not going to do the new subscription model they offer. Even if I dont get the new studio light tool

Skylum dropped support for their earlier versions way too quickly for me to ever wanna give them another penny. Especially because the newer version then did basically the same thing. No, that company can F right off.

Totally agree with you. I bought the first three versions of Luminar. Every upgrade felt like a new product to me. That's when I realized $10 a month is a bargain for LR and PS and it's just a hobby for me.

You missed two of my favorite tools - Mystical (it's a nicer blur/softening for landscapes that Glow and Orton is), and Color Harmony (the color contrast slider) which is amazing also for any image with complementary or contrasting colors. Darken the sky and brighten gold/orange tones at the same time. Amazing on night images. Try it.

interesting but having purchased an earlier software from them, I do not like their policies on their software, even more the subscription cost. Adobe offers a ton more for less.

Being able to move the Pano (at 14:30) is so important and LRC really needs to get this feature. Sometimes have to resort to PTGUI.

That's the second video I've seen showing off the pano stitching. Opened up Neo (which I haven't done in months) to give it a whirl and saw they want me to pay for it!? Like others have stated, that's put a bad taste in my mouth.

On a slightly different aspect of Neo that even the techs at Neo aren't able to help with... Once you import an image into Neo, on Mac Ventura I can find no way to save/export an image to a folder of my choosing as this option isn't available. I import an image into Neo, edit it and then try to select the folder it came from which is buried away on an eternal HDD but Neo won't get any further than finding the external drive; it won't then allow me to delve down through the folders on that external HDD to the folder I need; are you having the same problem or can explaing ho I can achieve this?

right click in the image, on the pop menu select "find in finder"; and on the top right corner there's a square with an arrow, if you click you have options to export the file to disk, choose format and folder etc... and it's done. what it dosn't allow and tha bugs me for a long time is the option to export in DNG format. Every other software can do this... they chose differently... no clue why. Cheers.

A few years ago I purchased Luminar 4. I really liked it, especially for portraits. My major complaint about it is that it takes forever to export the files to JPGs, even on a high end workstation. If I tried to do a bulk export (and let it run a while) it would often crash. How is the Neo product when it comes to exporting the files to JPGs ?

I use L4 for my work flow, I paid $49 on a sale and it’s been an amazing add on to my portrait workflow. Where they lost me is when they got to the subscription model. I fought getting Capture One for that same reason. While I am sure NEO has some cool add-on’s but I am not paying the monthly fee for it. I am a small side business, if I was a full time shooter then yes I could warrant it.

I’ve seen several Luminar promotion videos recently. This is the most comprehensive and makes me want to investigate. Thank you. I have a number of questions. Did you get the opportunity to look at focus stacking? A feature conspicuously missing in Lightroom and poorly executed in Photoshop. Did you determine if Luminar has the same 512 megapixel image size limit that Lightroom has for panoramas (that’s about a 6x3 panorama with a 30% overlap on my A7RV)? Does Luminar NEO support masking?

I don’t have answers to all your questions but I can confirm that all adjustment tools comes with a masking facility under a dedicated masking tab for each tool. Not only can you paint a mask freely with a brush but you also have the option to use gradient and radial masking as well. On top of that Luminar comes with masking tools that attempts to identify objects to mask, such as sky, buildings etc, if you prefer that.
