If you have an LED light that can change colors, you could also have it be blue to look like moonlight for nighttime. Maybe even a warm red to look like the moment of sunset

Probably not too hard to put it on a timer either so it could reflect the actual time of day. Could easily do with a raspberry pi or an app I'd bet.

You could also have a slit in the top and you could slide in new images or views when you fancy a change, you could have a set and use the same box.

and easy to customize. Take a photo of their living room and a photo of a photo on their wall (the generational loose is not that big of a deal). Trace the living room photo, light up and blur the photo of the holiday destination and done..

I can picture many different scenes for this like the inside of a log cabin with mountain scenery through the window and daylight shining through or even bring old memories or TV shows and movies to life like maybe Lassie laying on a rug inside of an old farm house and some kind of country landscape through the windows. The ideas with this are endless 👍

Now I want to make a huge one for in my room with a custom frame and leds that change the temperature and intensity of the light dynamically depending on the actual real time position of the sun.

Start small and make a few test versions before going big with any idea. I am curious what method you are planning on using to achieve that effect.

@Mac_Omegaly I'm a software engineer, so the software I would need to write would be pretty easy considering I've already done tons of hobby projects involving led lights. My room could be mistaken for a nightclub, lmao. If I were to make something like this, I would probably end up using an ESP-WROOM-32 for the micro controller and WS2812B LED light strips as I'm already very familiar with them as I already have 3 custom led decorations in my room made with that. For real-time weather and time data, it's pretty easy to find a public API for, or I could just set up my own weather station. To get the right colors, it would probably involve a bit of trial and error, but it probably wouldn't even look bad if the colors wouldn't be realistic. Though, maybe it would be a smart idea to use more expensive rgbw led strips that have an additional pixel for white/warm white colors as rgb can look quite funky when it comes to white colors. Oh, and I definitely wouldn't forget about making sure the light would be well diffused, though in this video, it doesn't seem that's too hard, unless I would want to overcomplicate things by creating a 2D matrix as a backdrop instead of just edge lighting the thing. Probably would look sick so might actually want to try that. Sorry for blaring on and not actually telling you what method I would use I just realized that.

Edit: if you had a scrolling background that went around the lights in the back, you could have a cloud cover the sun and then have the shadow block the light as it passes. No idea how noisy such a mechanic would be though. Lol

Great effect. When using natural halftones for both the foreground drawing and the lighting mask, this could be elaborated to form a picture that renders the subject in different lighting conditions depending on whether you light it from the front or from the back.

It would look absolutely good - if the back of the picture frame was clear, and you placed this with the picture frame (rear) to the sun. The image will brighten and darken automatically with sun movement and cloud. Maybe also mirrors at 45 degrees (front) to enhance (reflect) the image

One use of this concept would be to have a big sceneray hanging on the room wall as a night lamp or something like that. Or, even a Huge wall-size picture to make it more impressive at night.

Indeed. They sell LED panels on a variety of sizes. One would need just to apply the image over them. Only problem one can’t use normal printer for big sizes.

I've been thinking of doing something like this for ages. But it all started after looking at faux sketchbooks that uses photoshop for the window lights. Then thought, that could be done easily with electronics. Sadly never got round to it, saved it for a future project; choosing learning how to draw properly first!
