My family used to have this big space where we used to take care of rabbits,but then my grandpa saw a pigeon without one eye,we immidiatly took care of him,and later when he learned to fly(it was a challenge for him) we set him free

pigeons have a very good eye sight. they can watch the skies, the environment around them while feeding. I feed them every day. Now I'm cryiing...a poster related her experience of how the elderly are treated at nursing homes and it hit home just how long my aunts and uncles insisted my grandmother, their mother, stay in one long after she recovered from a stroke. It always pained me that she was rejected by all 7 of her kids at the end of her life. I suggested she live with me, but they vehemently rejected that idea. I can't believe they all felt nothing but contempt for her to the point of not even allowing me to care for her. Coincidentally, none of them ever owned pets either. I suspect they never loved anyone but themselves their entire lives. Now, most of them are dead too. Grandma is the only one I grieved for, she was the only one who had "the best intentions" for others.

speaking as someone who has raised pigeons since before he was 10, pigeons are incredible parents. both parents play a huge role in the raising of their young, and for fostering as well. you can foster other birds in a nest with parents who had a bad egg or just birds with a nest bowl and they will raise it as their own. both the mom and dad are incredible parents.

My parror closes his eyes like that too whenever I pet him. Birds do that when they are in bliss. Not like humans don’t do it either when we are getting a great back massage though, right? It’s just that it is so darn cute with the fact that birds lower eyelids are the lids that do the closing, instead of humans with our upper eyelids doing the closing. :)

A pigeon that was born next to my window came one day with his mother to "introduce" himself. I opened the window and they kept staring at me 🤗. Since then the baby pigeon (that is not a baby any more) comes every day to visit and even eats from my hand. I leave the window open and he comes in and waits there. Sometimes after eating he stays there and sleeps a little bit if I stay there with him. He wil always have a place in my heart. ❤

Coming back to this video after Lundy had died feels so sad. Lundy was one of my favorite animals in The Dodo. Even when he had a disability. RIP Lundy. You were a great dog with a great heart. Able to power through your pain and disability until the end. ❤️

As a wildlife rehabilitator I can tell you that is indeed a neurological symptom, specifically torticollis. Poor pigeon either had severe head trauma or has a viral infection.

@@nachomoony21 oh noh. Do you think he is in pain? I'm disabled with neurological issues from a severe infection that caused autoimmune diseases so I know pain. I hope Herman doesn't feel as bad as I do every day, but I can say having a best friend helps you ignore a lot of suffering. I'm glad he has Lundy to keep him company.

I had a puppy who is a beautiful white pug today who her back legs didn’t work. We thought she wouldn’t live and said that she would have to be put down. After that she started getting strong and using her back legs. She didn’t need to be put down and now runs like the wind after her older brother. 💜☺️

@Jakub Chrobry Well, the difference is that I ASSUMED you were something, while you declared that I and another person were something else. I was more annoyed than angry, how could you possibly declare someone a trump supporter or anti-covid realism from a single comment? The only reason I responded a second time was because I was so baffled by the fact that you could possibly decide that based on something completely unrelated.

@Jakub Chrobry Fair point, it was a bit uncalled for by me, I really only initiated more-so because I thought it was weird that you compared a harmless, tested pigeon to countless flu/sickness outbreaks, such as the swine flue. As the owner of a chihuahua who has been close to pigeons, this makes perfect sense. Chihuahuas love to burrow under things & pigeons like to sit on warm things & are trusting if they feel safe.

it made me tear up too, but more in the way that i’m glad they have each other. i think they must know they’re similar (or at least herman does, as lundy probably wouldn’t really be aware of the fact birds can even fly. herman could tell that dog isn’t moving like the others) and their bond came to be as a result of that. it’s really sweet to me. i love seeing animals with differences find companionship in each other

Back in primary school. Me and my classmates found a pigeon with one leg hoping outside our classroom. We weren't allowed to leave the classroom just yet so after school we went searching for it. We couldn't find it. The next day when we did we asked the principles permission to take care of it. Surprisingly she said yes, we couldn't do much but we brought some cardboard from home and make a little box for him/her we weren't sure we were just kids anyway. We named it by combining all of our first names, (the people who were contributing or taking care o it) It's a faidy memory but I think it was something like Shamanque. Very silly I know. A month after taking care of it, feeding it our snacks refilling a low plastic bowl of water. It.. was gone.. we never saw it again after that. Hopefully nothing got to it.. maybe it hopped away.. I don't know..
