We went to Jalpan de Serra in the Mexican state of Queretaro and this is what happened.
► WATCH NEXT: Our road trip to Hidalgo - • Our FIRST TRIP with my...
Jalpan de Serra is up in the mountains of Queretaro, Mexico. They call these mountains "la sierra gorda". In la sierra gorda there are several "magic towns", one of which is Jalpan de Serra.
In Jalpan, we rented the most unique home that we've ever stayed in! It's a tiny home that's shaped like a teapot, is round, and made from straw and mud.
We also had our first experience with a "dry bathroom" (GROSS!)
Where we stayed: lacasitaecologicasierragorda....

Great video! It seems like it's been so long! One thing... The barbacoa I've had was cow head (tongue and cheek) not lamb, which is interesting. I assumed that what you're getting is more authentic! ☺️👍

Many dry toilets in Mexico in rural areas, farms and eco resorts etc. You can also find earth homes all over the world, rustic and 5 star. Especially popular in the many permaculture courses offered world wide. Happy you got your first experience and shared it with us

One big tip for recovering quickly whenever you may overstep and take a bite with very, very hot salsa is to have a carrot at the ready. Carrots quash the sting very quickly and is many times more effective than water, milk or other remedies. Try it. Have a carrot at the ready during meals or when snacking on street food. Love your restart on TT.

Lovely town, great video, love seeing Laska again! The tiny home is cute but I agree that there MUST be hot water, lol. The kitchenware that you bought is so beautiful and functional, I love it. The food you had looked great (except the pig's feet, lol) and those bakeries, wow. Thanks for showing a town I would never have thought to visit!

Some of my ancestors were soldiers in the conquest of the Sierra Gorda in the late 1500s and early 1600s. They registered several mines in 1605 up on the mountains. Then in 1640 one of my ancestor’s nephew founded the village of Cadereyta.

When you think of it, for a country that suffers of water shortage in many places and with a lacking functional policy of water treatment, taking a dump on clean water is kind of crazy. But I feel you, those dry toilets leave a very weird sensation. However, they are surprisingly efficient and functional, because afterwards, you can actually use "your business" to fertilize the land (once it's became compost, not before). So this is really breaking several paradigms, but giving it a second thought is not a bad idea. Now, the hot water issue, is a different story :D

Dang Jordan, for being from Minnesota you sure are pretty Mexican now. Good taste in Mexican food (tuétano esquite) 😂. Very good tips on the tacos, especially the point that Mayra made on price. I never thought of it like that. Also the point on where busy restaurants' meat cycles faster. It's like duh but duh never occurred to me. I just thought that busy meant good.

I believe the idea is to sweat in the sauna then take a cold shower to rinse off. It's suppose to be very good for the skin. In some countries, you get into a sauna, sweat lodge then roll in the snow. Also, the dry toilet is similar to an old fashion outhouse that are still used in some places. All the state parks and many summer camps had them except you didn't add anything.

Haven't you 2 ever heard of tiny houses in the U.S. and many countries are going tiny. That's the kind of set up many use. No stink once its covered so not a big deal. Use water in urine and use as fertilizer for your garden. Have fun & be safe.
