I looked at this boat last year. When I found out that it was not an Oyster as advertised, I walked away. The price was too high considering all the hours required to get finished and not have an Oyster at the end.

Saw this boat advertised nearly 3 years ago! - never went to see her as I couldn’t figure out what she was although the hull did look solid it is quite a conundrum. Massive project for someone. Hope if anyone buys her they film the renovation project.

Yeah, it took a while to the bottom of its construction - sure a solid boat for whoever builds her and definitely a project to watch!

Good decision. Moody's were good in their time. But, balsa cored teak decks that are screwed down.... Cast Iron keel and a hull shape from the 1970's.... She will be slow, heavy, rolly as a barrel at anchor and wet as a shower punching wind over tide or in heavy seas. Even with doing all the work yourself and a few freebees it's £80k to rebuild and it's still a 2000 Moody. Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid.

Hey guys, your right there - if it had been what we went for, it would have been a good build for us, mainly to sell on though to get what we want for testing etc.. The search continues, It's hard to find bare hulls although we have two on the horizon. Fingers crossed!!

I’m watching from down under and will never get to Poole. What was the asking price for a project like that?

Haha! Your not missing much! We negotiated a dammed good price on it - can’t really say here as it’s still for sale but effectively the price of a new 6 cylinder engine and it’s ancillaries. Basically, if it was an Oyster hull with new engine, mast, chain plated and probably 80% of the gear included etc. It kinda made sense for us. The only concern is it’s been in brackish water for over 20 years without a lift out… Serious osmosis potential. Still, being a boatbuilder we want to fit out something ourselves, and an old oyster is still close to 280k and that comes with a whole heap of headaches! Only thing is, it’s not an Oyster, it’s a Moody with a finished value of under 100k.
