it's so interesting to see real time speed vs usual average (?) speed.150 becomes 115 by the time it passes the net,105 when it bounces than 96 when it exits the table. when the opponent hits it it's "only" 45 the 151 to 48 on its way back this is an immediate eye opener about how making additional steps back when defending not only gives you more time to get to the ball, but also makes the wall speed way more manageable. the ball is half the speed it is when it exits thr table. also eye opener about how hitting a few kmh slower but with better placement is always more efficient. I still bit higher balls with very fast flat smashes....🙄

​@@geemy9675 yeah very interesting. It explains why it's so natural to step back from the table. However coincidentally I saw a video that explains it's better to stand close to the table (as a pro) because then the counter will have much more speed (and it's easier with the angles)

@@perthpongtt if you can 1/hit the ball 2/control it yes... I found sometimes blocking a loop with lots of top spin but not too fast, is better blocking it right after it bounces. you don't have to guess the amount of spin and how it will affect the bounce. the ball comes back with lot of speed and backspin but you have little room between hitting the net and being out amd you still have to guess the amount of spin to get your angle right. but it's oddly satisfying and you can redirect the ball easily with just the angle of the racket and find interesting angles, because you hit so early. blocking efficiently is fun because you spend so much less energy than the opponent. also blocking clos to the table means you don't even have to move a lot, just your arm...and yes, before you ask, I'm lazy 😂 often using my reach and just one step, instead of intense footwork

I'm actually competent at real tennis, I am absolutely trash at table tennis, that's the difference. Though last time I played tennis I lost every time I played 1-2(best of three for that pre game warm up)/2-3/2-3/2-3. (We wanted to switch it up so we played half games so everyone could be on everyone else's team and my team lost every game). Also I am still confused about game set match, we were doing 1 set each match, first to 3 game wins? It's been like 7 years since I started playing tennis and I still don't understand that.

@@grimdeathkid Playing in an empty stadium is very very unsatisfying. All pros said that WTT events in Qatar for example are the worst of all with only 10 people watching. Of course it shouldnt effect their performance since nothing that happens at the table changes. But just like all other sports events, the spirit of the event gets totally lost without the crowd.
