Great video on self filmed hunts by the way. You nailed it with price options, mounting options, and quality to functionality. Video idea: I never see you guys talk about kill kits. Knife sharpening, or what's in your kill kits. Preparing for the hunt is what most archers will be focused on. For some of those put there, they now have to break down a animal. I have seen and heard stories about those they don't successfully clean off the bone. To be a ethical Hunter, it doesn't stop at putting the animal on the ground.

Great video and I liked the explanation of keeping your core engaged in the shot. I like the idea of the 3rd Axis video, especially if you showed the same shots with the 3rd axis set correct and bubbled off to the right and left. Also, something I noticed, is that you should check your base for every shot, it may have been the video, but it looked like you were closing up your hips, which can have the added effect of closing up your form at the shoulders and making that release harder to fire. Try taking your right foot and moving it back slightly in comparison to your left foot. Keep up the great work guys!!

I’ve been shooting my Evolution for about 16 months now. Best piece of archery equipment I’ve ever bought. Just an observation, finish the follow through as the shot breaks. Just like a baseball swing or golf swing, follow through by letting your shoulder and arm come back full motion. Your shot will feel better.

Kyle, if you set up a thumb, like the Wise Choice, where the thumb wraps all the way over the knob and touches your index finger it will nearly stop the ability to punch or " command?" a shot. Set with no trigger travel and set light tension all you have to do is aim ( looking and focusing on the target spot) and just start pulling thru the shot with your back muscles until it fires all on its own. Set properly it only requires a minute amount of trigger thumb pressure to fire. Eventually, as you pull while aiming you will notice the timing of the shot being in " time" with where the sight pin is in relation to the spot on the target. This will become an unconscious seemingly automatic timing so the shot breaks at basically the same time in your shot cycle. It becomes a second nature thing in your brain. You will become so involved in aiming and focusing you will unconsciously pull and fire. You will not need o tell your brain it's time to make it fire- it will be 99% automatic

FOC Thoughts - I think you are spot on, adding a brass collar is asking for trouble. All you front end weight should be as far forward as possible... Think about it.. If you add brass just behind your broadhead you now have that brass/collar driving into your broadhead before it gets to the animal. It can mess with your ferrel. I have slower arrow speeds so I am all about the old school 2 blades, penetration is key. Keep your heads sharp and you will be fine.

Yea Tim, the thumb is a great tool as you've discovered. I used a trigger for years. My deal was pulling the trigger on game not points on a 3-d. Got hard into 3-d and tried a thumb. After about 2 months of good quality practice and working on my form and complete shooting technique I did a huge improvement. There are NO DRIVE BY shots anymore.

FYI on heavy broadheads, make sure you have plenty of insert in the shaft or an outsert system like Ethics. I shot 250gr VPA 3 blades at plains game in South Africa and had two half outs snap the arrow. That long broadheads creates quite a fulcrum/moment at the insert/arrow junction. Fortunately I also had Ethics outsert arrow setup for buffalo and used those with the VPA, flawless.

@@ElkShapeI shoot Rampage 250s. The 51gr half out that comes with it only sticks into the shaft 7/8". Couple that with a 2" long broadhead plus the half out 5/16", puts the tip way out there. I now have the 120gr outsert from Ethics that has a 2" long post inside the shaft and the sleeve as well. The structural integrity of this set up outweighs the decimal % points gain in FOC in my opinion.

Here is my analogy of a cut on contact or a 3 blade with a chisel tip. First take: imagine a punch tool so you can drill a hole on metal, are you going to have better luck with a hammer and knife or a chisel tip and hammer? Second take: you mentioned a axe, well you take one swing to wedge losing speed then take the log and axe blade to finish it with impact. So overall, I rather see the energy of a chisel tip shatter rib to stay on course, allowing leftover energy to force blades into vitals without deflection. The key is no deflection. AAE max stealth vanes with a 3 blade broadhead your tuned is a killer combo. Combined with weight up front and a thick walled 4mm or 5mm diameter arrow for impact.

I think the burly broadhead is a good idea, but those Easton axis arrows are super heavy on the grains per inch. At first I wanted something like that, but then I wasn't able to get as much FOC as I would have liked with those arrows. Once I bust all these easton axis arrows I will switch it up. They still do great don't get me wrong. I almost had a full pass through on a frontal on a bear, but I know I could get more FOC.

Great video! I've been curious on how these releases work. I am a long time elk hunter in north Idaho and I am just getting into the archery scene. I am assuming the third axis you were talking about is the compensation of the downward angle is that correct? Also I would like to see a video on explaining this if you could! :) Also maybe for some of the newer to the scene guys like myself, maybe you can explain some more on how to properly balance the bow with counter weights! Love your channels videos and I look forward to more content in the future!

Not overly concerned with FOC. With a heavier arrow their isnt a massive need for FOC (imho) I shoot an annihilator broadhead at 100gr with a total arrow weight of 530gr. With a heavier arrow weight and the solid head I bust through pig bones without any issue. That being said the most important thing is being confident in your own equipment. If you feel confident then that leads to the success needed in the field. Broadheads are a massive rabbit hole to dive into. However, like Dan has stated, along with alot of others including myself, fixed blades are the way to go when hunting. Knowing that your able to go through bone or hit bone and not worry about a broken broadhead is peace of mind. As for the back tension I believe EVERYONE should train with one. Helps with proper shot execution as well as slowing down the shot. To many rush through the shot, especially when hunting.

I think it is a big buzzword right now.. MFJJ talks FOC in an earlier video and just take his word for it.. he's the expert I'm not.. But I'm not chasing FOC, just like the idea of solid steel up front makes me feel all warm and fuzzy lol - TC

If your going to do a 3rd axis video. Make sure you make it a shooting video, show the difference between having a set 3rd axis and one that's not set. That away your viewers can actually see the difference in the shot and how much it affects your uphill and downhill shots. Otherwise your just going to be putting out another video explaining the importance of it. Love watching you guys sling arrows and enjoying what I've been enjoying for 35 years now. Started bow hunting when I was 15 quit gun hunting when I was 20 other than spring turkey hunting. I'll hopefully good Lord willing never go back to using a rifle.
