What happens when you try to learn Vantablack by Intervals in 1 hour? Well, your brain goes to absolute mush!
Welcome to the first episode of Sick Riffs & Chill. The new series where I take a sick riff to play on electric guitar and we chill out together and see how well I do.
Learning guitar is kind of a private thing so doing it in front of you guys in this video was a little nerve wracking but I had fun pulling the curtain back on what it's actually like to learn a hard guitar part.
Shout out to Sheet Happens Publishing for letting me show the tab for this song whilst I'm attempting to learn it. I've been using them for ages for tab and it's honestly the best. Not sponsored and I have no affiliation, I just love their stuff. Check them out here www.sheethappenspublishing.com!
I hope you enjoy the video and don't forget to comment your suggestions for riffs I should learn in the next episode! I appreciate you 🤘

Hey, love the video and the guitar! I bought the intervals tab books and the pdfs from sheet happens. How do you get this electronic tab on the screen that plays along with you and moves forward through the song? What software are you using? Ive used songster before but not like this

Thanks so much dude, I really appreciate you checking the video out! The digital tabs are for some software called Guitar Pro. It’s great dude, I highly recommend it 🤘 Thanks again!

I would never laugh at someone for practising. Im sure many people can relate to such an experience. On a different note, i can't stop looking at that strandy. Looks like you got real lucky with that top

Realistically, that’s the hope with these videos man. I think there’s a bit too much perfect playing on social media and not enough of the process shown if that makes sense. But also, I don’t take myself too seriously so if we can all have a laugh together that’s totally cool 😁 Oh man! I totally did. It was second hand for a really great price and it’s phenomenal! Thanks for checking out the video too dude, I appreciate it 🤘

I'm getting to this a little late lol. Love the vids, u did rly well on it, you should try hybrid picking the open strings of the fourth bar, it makes the part alot easier than string skipping (also that's how Aaron plays it lol) great vids keep it going

Ah, that very relatable grind. Nice work, mate. I don't play the Djenty stuffs (due to the guitar being in E Standard), but I do have interests in them. There's one tune I want to learn, and that is Sentient Glow by Periphery (maybe you could give it a try?). But for now, I'm just going to stick with J-Rock and anything that was written with E Standard. Maybe I'll start learning more lower tuned songs, once I managed to get myself more guitars.

Thank you bro, I hope you enjoyed the video! A little bit of something different. Sentient Glow is a fantastic song, I’ll get it on the list, thank you! If you’re interested in something a bit proggy but want it in standard the Intervals album The Shape Of Colour is tuned to that. Some great songs there too. Cheers bro 🤘

@@JackTaylorGuitars You're welcome, dude. Sure, I'll check the album out. Yeah, I do have interest in proggy stuffs, since I do listen to bands like The Aristocrats (though they're more of a Fusion band) and tried to learn some of their stuffs, but failed miserably. 🤣 _Who would've thought that the guitar part that was played by Guthrie Govan would be extremely difficult?_

@@Nickshreds890Hey dude, how's it going? Nowadays, it's mostly Yorushika's stuffs. Have been listening to them exclusively lately, mainly because their songs are what I'm trying learn right now. As for other bands, anything that appeared in anime I've watched, if the openings and endings interest me, I'd check em out. But honestly, I just listen to everything that sounds interesting to me, no matter the genre. Though, Yorushika is a little more special to me, they're not just one of my favourite bands (duo in this case), but they were also the one that kept me playing the guitar. If I didn't discover them, I might've quit guitar again, due to my condition.

I can't remember how I discover Guthrie (my memory is not the best lately), I think it could've been through Jason Becker's River of Longing, on the Triumphant Hearts album. After that, I started checking the stuffs I could find through YT and listened to them. Have even picked some of the things he does for myself.

Hey bro! So I’m using Guitar Pro 8, it’s basically the thing that Ultimate Guitar Player emulated for their website. It’s really good notation software and if you buy any Sheet Happens books you get the Guitar Pro files too. Hope that helps my dude! 🤘

Hey dude! It's the tab book for Intervals' album Circadian. Probably my favourite of his! Check out SheetHappensPublishing.com, they're awesome guys and that's where I get all of my tab books from (provided they have it! But the library is massive.)
