My podcast recommendation is definitely Russian With Max. For 3 reasons, Justin. He updates his channel and podcasts. His speech is clearly understood because even when he talks at normal to fast speed, he spaces his words instead of a sentence sounding like 1 word, and his topics are varied, conversational and pretty interesting. His transcripts can be helpful, of course

Great interview! The guest is such an unusual person, humble, funny, with lots of interests and experiences. Besides, his Russian is very clear. I've been learning Russian for six months (mostly following KZfaq videos) and every time I listen to interviews, conversations or speeches... I understand almost nothing. But in this interview I understood a good amount (some 50%) of what the guest said, and perhaps 20% of what Yaroslava said. So, thank you very much.

Verbs of motion have definitely been hard for me to totally understand. Two years into this and I still don't totally understand them. But I'm getting clearer. You would think this would be easy to grasp.

What is this "mango" app. What can it do? In which way is it different from other apps.
@tabidots

It's an SRS-based app that is structured like a course. Imagine a Pimsleur course updated for the 21st century without the cheesy scenarios (plus reading and writing, although you can use it in hands-free mode and just do listen-and-repeat). There's no gamification so it might seem less fun, but it's very well-designed and it works.

Hi, as I don’t speak Russian at all, I have to use English as a means of communication, sorry for that :-) I just wanted to ask whether you usually are addressing your viewers in an informal or formal way. Because, for example the German subtitles are constantly and randomly switching between polite ‘Sie’ and colloquial ‘Du’ - sometimes even within a phrase or sentence. So I was wondering what your general intention is, how to speak to your audience, and for that matter in an interview like this. Do you talk to Justin in a formal or informal way?

Спасибо за видео! Когда я начала учить русский, я думала, что тот язык очень уникальный потому что у него нет настоящего аналога глагола "avoir" или "to have". Формулация "у меня есть" - большой сюрприз!
@tabidots
@tabidots 3 ай бұрын
Не такой уж уникальный :) В японском на самом деле структура аналогичная: "Что касается меня, брат существует" = "У меня есть брат." А в русском эта тенденция называется "принцип скромности (The modesty principle)." Погуглите . В Scribd есть PDF-файл.
