You're all an episode ahead, so you're probably already aware of this, but skin tonality isn't exclusively indicative of whether or not someone's ishvalan. That's solely based on the color of your eyes. You'll even meet darker-hued characters in the show, which most other reactors assume to be ishvalan but are just melanated members of the amestrian armed forces.

All Ishvalan have dark skin, but not all dark skinned character is ishvalan. Althou I always suspect that the ones with darker skin had some ishvalan or other country etcnicity in their bloodline somewhere.

In this show, eye color is proof of race and not skin color. So remember everyone with unnatural or rare eye colors!

As to your question about Scars powers, you guys might have missed the dialogue but Armstrong says in this episode that "as long as creators like us (alchemist) exists there must also be destroyers". Simply put he does the opposite of what we've seen alchemists do. They make constructs and create. Scar destroys things or breaks them down

Alchemists do both, they destroy something to create something else since you can't make something from nothing. Scar just stops half way, he simply destroys.

One of the OVA's actually goes into what Morgan was hinting on here: "What was it like between Amestrians and Ishvalans before the war but after the annexation?" Highly recommend it when you get to it in the release order!

About the ishvallan people they are kinda accidentally/coincidentally linked to Jewish people even though everything has german aesthetics. The actual inspiration was a group of dark skinned native japanese people who also are victims of genocide sadly i forgot the name of the group because i havent looked much into their story.

Most people say to watch brotherhood instead of the 2005 show, and I can understand why with it having more action and sticking closer to the source material, but the 2005 show does such a better job explaining the background info and with character development imo

I didnt have anyone to guide me when I watched, so I thought they were supposed to be watched FMA then FMAB. I'm really glad I watched it like that, because it adds a lot more layers to the cast.

In Japanese the acting is so much more emotional and authentic." Bruh, you don't even know how to speak or understand Japanese. And with those language skills you lack, you have not consumed enough Japanese media to judge if the acting is good or not. All you can do is read ENGLISH subs to understand what's going on.

Yea Ed's comment is super naive and comes from a place of extreme privilege. What's ironic is he was there tormented about the death of a little girl that he just met but somehow he believes Scar who lost his entire people, culture and life is overreacting.

Privilege to what thou? Ed and Al did nothing wrong as of that part aside from the human transmutation. Scar up to that point had vindication, but the moment he went for literal kids, he became a hipocrite. The story literally throws that at his face, wich is what triggers his character development.

Hot take. Brotherhood ruined the scene where Al punched Ed. What was a serious moment in the manga was played for laughs. The 2003 version of this scene hit home though. *(I prefer Brotherhood overall, but 2003 has its moments)*

@@SeanTanktop I think you'd enjoy it. The latter half has questionable story telling, but it can be argued that '03 tells the first half of FMA better than Brotherhood

About halfway through the 2003 version instead of waiting for the manga to finish they did their own thing for the last half of the series and the ending movie to the 2003 version is one of the best endings to an anime ever. I prefer Brotherhood overall but the 2003 version is still hella valid.

@@SeanTanktop I hope you do. Both '03 and FMAB are fantastic in their own ways. Don't listen to haters, the shows are pretty much incomparable due to tone and story differences alone. Just make sure to watch Conqueror of Shamballa after it to wrap it all up.

Dub is trash. Sounds so bland and has zero emotion. Hopefully they switch back. Dub ruins it so much. Every time they try to show emotion. It comes off as funny. Can’t take any anime serious with Dub
