I dont know if you noticed this small detail but when himmel was kneeling giving frieren the ring you can see the big clock in the middle of them cementing that the only thing standing between them was time.

Only sharing some details that others have mentioned in different discussions. There's consistency to the world building in that, at the beginning episodes, we are shown that Himmel is relatively knowledgeable about flowers. Also, while Fern's bracelet has the flowers in full bloom showing that their love will (eventually) come to fruition... Frieren's ring has flowers that remain a bud. Indicating that while Himmel's love for Frieren is eternal, it will never "bloom" in his lifetime. It's honestly equal parts beautiful and tragic. @@RobinoyoReacts

So few people catch on how the jewelry merchant who owns the wagon has the jewelry finding spell. Probably something useful for anything that got 'lost' in someone's pocket.

In D&D terms Himmel seems like a Fighter but I could also see him as a Paladin. He might not have the same abilities but Paladins scale on charisma and it seems like Himmels real power is his leadership skills

Saddest sentence: "im used do losing things" in the whole anime. Its so nice when you get the feeling thats fern and starks acting feel really natural. Even the fact that both grow up without contact to the other sex. The writer knows good how difficult a growing relationship could be. You also can see how Frieren learns more and more about her feelings and friendship and the face expressions had more and more smiles. just amazing this anime. The Ring is the same you see in the very first episode after himmel died,

Himmel’s role is basically the “Hero” class of Dragon Quest which influenced Frieren. In fact, Himmel’s party is made up of the staple classes in DQ: a hero, a warrior, a mage, and a priest. While Frieren’s party is not exactly the same, they are protégés of the previous party. Fern is Frieren’s apprentice. Stark is Eisen’s. Sein is sort of Heiter’s mainly due to his influence on Sein. This leaves Frieren who in many ways learns about humanity through Himmel making her his apprentice in a sense.

I think Himmel is implied to be a warrior like Eisen and "Hero" is more of a title he has. He's never shown doing anything except fight with his sword just like Eisen fights his axe. Another option would be that Himmel is a "sub-class" of warrior, like in D&D or video games where you have stuff like rangers and paladins and so on and they are basically warriors with a few extra abilities, and in that case maybe Himmel could be some sort of paladin analogue since his personality and behavior fit that archetype.

On a concept Stark also definetly reminded me of Zenitsu too. They are both cowardly and whiny characters who are, in truth, quite powerfull in their own right... On the other hand, Zenitsu is a joke of a character whose only function seems to be to yell and make innapropriate/not funny, jokes abt things and women. Stark feels like a real and likeable character lol.

From the moment he is introduced Stark reminded me of Zenistsu to the point I mistakenly thought that was the same VA. The secretly strong coward thrope makes it hard not to compare them and I was worried at first, but thankfully Stark turned out to be an incredibly well written character where Zenitsu ends up being just annoying.
