I own a Swimming Pool Cleaning Company and those strips are made to test Chlorine for pools so of course it wold test very low on tap water. It is designed to show you when you need to add Chlorine. This test is still indicating low levels of Chlorine so for Tap water that is very high... for a pool...time for a Gallon of Chlorine to be dropped in. So I think your filter is working well. Did you let the new filter run for a little before doing the test?

Dude, I got this SAME shower filter and I'm glad you took the time to do the research. My purchase feels less justified 🤣 I'm still gonna use it though.

Did you calibrate the filter test?

I'm glad I watched this because I was about to buy one of those Jolie shower heads but I think I'll look for a better brand.

If you do not have a water softener in your house, then that filter would soften the water some. That would account for the difference in what you feel. Before and after installing the filter.

We do have one, but now that I think of it… I think it needs more salt. Been a while since I re-up’d it. Great point!

great video I just got a filter without investigating further and I'm so disappointed. Thank you 🙏🏼 for making this video

one thing your experiment didn't mention was how significant 0.5 chlorine is, as you said its a pool tester, so pools use way more chlorine than your shower, because you can smell it in the swimming pool. According to chatgpt even 0.5 chlorine is significant enough to cause skin dryness

Good work. I tested a couple of shower filters several years ago and my results were pretty much the same. In one filter the TDS was even higher with the filter, haha. The difference is negligible. It really is not worth the money, time, and effort into buying these shower filters. The drinking water filters like Brita and Zerowater do actually work, but its slow filtering. if you wanted to achieve those results in the shower it would reduce the pressure of the water and you would have to replace the filter like every 2-3 months maybe. A reverse osmosis whole house filter will net the best results but its also expensive and it creates wastewater in the process so you're consuming more water than you normally would...your water usage will be higher.

Thanks! Great comment. I have a RO filter for drinking water. Agreed that a shower filter is probs not doing much

I wonder if you put the filter in wrong regardless of how much chlorine was there to begin with. Most filters for anything have to go in a certain way to be effective

So previously had looked into this myself, chloramines is another chemical to test for

Me here swimming in pools the last 20 years for hours 5 days a week 🫠💀. The dilute shower chlorine is definitely helps me wash off all the real chlorine from my swims. 😂

Lmao ! Honestly tho swimming is such great exercise and so fun. Bet it’s doing great things for you long term even accounting for whatever chlorine’s in there!

I wish you could have also tested a really dirty chlorinated water, and also test the old filter if it still works the same as the new one or not....i have read some reviews that older filters should be replaced because it can grow mold/bacteria etc... so when should you replace the filter?
@user-kh1ro6wv3t3 ай бұрын
From what I know, minimum of 6 months then it needs a new one.

I did this test yesterday, and I compared my tapwater to my shower filter to my Britta water pitcher filter. Britta way out performed that shower filter. The shower filter practically gave the exact same results as tapwater!!!
@user-kh1ro6wv3t3 ай бұрын
Britta might as well create a shower filter included with a shower head. 😂

If you dip your stick in crap and not clean it it carries over wouldn’t say the first test was accurate
@skreek.o7Ай бұрын
Exactly, you work in water treatment? Idk how he would clean it without di water tho

Thank you for your skeptic efforts 🫡 of course more repeated tests would increase confidence in results. But at least for now I'ma carry on drinking LA water 😛
