I've actually picked up Illari really well, and consistently do better with her than other supports. The only problem is everyone hates playing against an Illari and I find myself constantly targeted even over my other support or teammates that are in bad positions

Love how Emongg is saying It's alright to shoot the take for a bit than dive the backline and My play style is just "IT'S YOU AND ME OTHER TANK! NE OF US IS DYING HERE!!!!" and focus them like 70% of the time lol

I like the ult time bit lol because for me I use Illari's ult somewhat on cooldown (reasonably) because it's become more of a "I need to remove this person specifically from the game" move. Also I'm guilty of letting the resource run out by accident

first thoughts: 1. my friend, you need to stop jumping so much lol i do it too, it's fun, but jumping is a VERY predictable movement that enemies can track to headshot you. gotta resist the urge as much as you can :) not only does it make you an easier target but it messes up your own aim too! 2. I think, in general, it might be best to usually save your shift to get away. basically use it like Moira's fade. you can definitely use it to get to high ground (i kinda count that as getting away) but you should always have a specific reason for using it. avoid challenging the widows unless youre confident you can win. 3. ping your pylon! its hugely helpful to your team. some might not pay attention, but there are teammates who will pay attention and be able to benefit from using it. your team often won't be looking in the same direction you are and you're often in the backline so your frontline won't usually see you throw it, so proactively letting them know where it is will be huge. just get into the habit of ALWAYS pinging it when you throw it, and ping it again if you see someone low who you can't safely help.

My favorite spot right now for Illari's plyon is on Watchpoint Gilbraltor before you get to second point after the cart comes out of the valley I'll put above the exit if my team is holding the cart

Think they use their shift ability a bit too much to catch up to a teammate to heal them or just use it for fun instead of defensively using it

I’m LOVING Illari, I like being able to go toe-to-toe with other heroes. Her gun reminds me of the shock rifle from Unreal Torunament when I used to play insta-gib. It’s fun thinking of good spots for the turret.

Is it better to use up all your healing to keep a tank alive or to save the last part of your resource (effectively never using that bottom part of the bar)?

I just made the switch from console to pc. on console i was master (top500 on console, dps) and i got placed silver from my horrific aim and mechanics, and I am at complete loss at what to do to get out of this depressing rank, where the average player's awareness is comparable to that of a slug. so morale of this story is: this game is hard on pc ;(

Yeah I was playing with a group of friends and even then no one but me would bother to shoot the illari pylon. It's on the level of sym turrets and torb turrets. Too many player just ignore it cause it's not going to give them an elimination point in their stats.

Emongg is too nice for these to be educational. But i guess he’s not a support player either. An aggressive pylon wins team fights because it allows your tank to hold space. They let the tank die at the end of second point for no reason.

It's so strange to see how people get hung up on actions to do in a match. Diving the backline when you can is good advice, but you shouldn't let it take priority over the core values which should be to not risk death unless it's nessassery to save teammates or halt enemy team progress. Like there are some chokes in the game where I'm willing to risk it and also if they're closer to my spawn than their spawn I'm willing to trade.

this person has a porblem with jumping and wasting healing resources. They tend to heal a teamate with beam while that teamate is getting healed by pylon or mercy.(excluding critical tanks) They also waste beam healing cause they dont know the range. Its like the moira problem.
