Hi Andrea, there is a way to make your toilet paper smell pretty longer. As with freshening up potpourri, after putting essential oil drops inside the roller, put the roll inside a ziplock bag and leave it to permeate, the longer, the better. You may find you don't need as many drops. Sealing it up allows each sheet of paper to absorb the scent and as you unroll the paper, the fragrance will be there. I raised 5 sons, I completely relate. It's nice to see your ideas.

My hubby sometimes misses “the target” late at night half asleep. So I noticed that I was constantly having to spray/disinfect the area between the toilet and floor. An old plumber told me of a trick that works. I took Lexel sealant and applied it to the bottom of the toilet, where the toilet touches the floor. Lexel is paintable, mold and mildew proof and waterproof not water resistant, it’s waterproof. It also has superior flexibility which is why this sealant works and not others. Other products will crack. Clean up is with mineral spirits bc it’s oil based. So be sure you have enough ventilation or wear a mask. A little trick when applying…take a bowl of water with dawn dish liquid and you stick your finger in the soapy water, and then immediately smooth the lexel out. I have tried several ways to apply Lexel and this is the only way that works for me. Yes, it’s a pain and yes it’s oil based. However, that old urine smell that was in my bathroom and I was constantly chasing with cleaners. No matter how clean I kept it, I always noticed a faint smell, that smell is completely gone. It smells like a clean bathroom that I’m not embarrassed of anymore.

Those caps on the sides of the toilet usually just snap on so they are easily removed for cleaning. The hinges for the toilet seat that you were cleaning the sides of with the Q-tips, you can pop those top covers up to get to the inside too, just an FYI if you didn't already know. I have a hand-held spray steam cleaner. It has different snap on ends for various places. But, truly, my bathroom smells better cleaning with steam than after using any brand of cleaner/vinegar I have used to clean all nooks and crannies! The steam is strong enough to blow out everything deep inside every crevice ! And the steam dries fast! You just have to easily wipe off the debris that has been blown out. Wait a bit, and it is already dry! No scrubbing and yucky cleaning essentials needed. 🧼🧽(Except, maybe some paper towels🧻) Easy Peasy 😊🚽 And it is economical!

Love the baby oil trick! I have used baby oil for many years to eliminate sewer gas from coming up infrequently used sinks, tubs, showers and drains (like in the basement bathrooms, floor drain by the furnace and the pool backwash drain for winterizing (when we had a pool). The baby oil smells great, its inexpensive and actually seals the drain from sewer gas coming up. It keeps the water in the P-traps from evaporating and therefore nothing comes up that shouldn’t. Just don’t forget to add more if someone uses it. And its environmentally friendly!!!!!

Yessssss!!!!! To this comment 😁 steaming tools have become my besties. My first steam tool that I invested in was my steam mop 3 years ago. I have a compressed disc in my back that has given me hell for many years. I enjoy cleaning as it’s therapeutic for me but when it came to mopping my floors, the constant bending and carrying I had to do with a traditional mop and bucket always made my disc flare up and I would be in bed for a week in pain. I use steam to clean about 90% of my home now and it has completely been a joy for my back. Let’s not mention how I was able to cut back on chemical usage to clean. I steam clean then I use wax melts or essential oil diffusers to freshen the air even more inside my home

I suggested my husband to sit while using the toilet for both needs, or else he will be cleaning the toilet. I have a strong sense of smell, so I would know if he uses the toilet without sitting. He respects my request, and I really appreciate that. Overall he is always helpful. Thank you Honey.

According to research from the Leiden University Medical Centre in the Netherlands, sitting down to pee allows for ‘a more favourable urodynamic profile’ [translation: the flow is stronger] which helps ward off prostate problems. My husband and my boys sit when they're home and stand if they're out. And it's whatever they are comfortable with doing, wherever they're at.

Andrea, you can just pop the tabs on the toilet to clean. I do that regularly when cleaning the toilet. And yes, I use the toothbursh after poping the tabs. You just snap them closed when done.

It would be so much more efficient and easier if you pulled up the hinge caps. They pop up pretty easily and you can unhinge lid as well to make it easier to get to without using those tedious Q-tips. Seems kind of pointless to just wipe the leakage from the sides instead of what is trapped underneath. Also, the round ball-like covers covering the floor bolts pop off too. Just thought that since you are making videos about tips to clean the toilet, you might consider a more efficient way to actually thoroughly clean it without using so many different tedious objects. My grandfather made sure when we were kids that we knew how to correctly clean a toilet, the way the Coast Guard taught him. He insisted we knew how to do this to help out our single mom around the house.

I would be careful with vinegar because it can rust the screws. I like to take the top off of a quart squirt bottle, cut the straw a little shorter and put it in a quart bottle of hydrogen peroxide. Then just spray it on all the handles hinges Etc in your bathroom. It will kill even e-coli, I use it for my cutting boards to.

Awesome tips! As for the toilet seat I just completely take it off and wash it in the bathtub before washing the tub of course! The squared back part that you was cleaning with the q-tip is where you disconnect it just pull it up and pull outwards, Not upwards and it will come out easily. Because I used to clean it that way BUT the urine (I have 2 boys) stays stuck inside those little squares!
