This SMALL part can KILL your car! (VW/AUDI)

So we had a huge electrical shutdown on the Audi A7, every warning light possible came on the dash, I kept losing gears and coming in and out of drive, gearbox malfunction, TMPS error, ABS error.. there was an entire electrical failure. If you have multiple electrical issues on your VW/AUDI, PLEASE check this part as it is so common, and i'm surprised audi have not recalled this!
What happens is, the coolant solenoid leaks THROUGH the electrical plug (meaning you will never see a leak) and it runs inside the wiring down and down into the gearbox plug where it culminates and sits at the bottom of the plug, making the pins wet, corroding them and sending the ECU into meltdown.
This coolant solenoid/valve needs to be changed if you have this part on your car!
This error came out of nowhere, and made the car totally un-drivable.
Thanks for watching, please subscribe!

Undo hose clamps before unbolting the unit so you don’t have to fight the movement. Also a flexible hose clamp removal tool is like magic in these situations.

Looks like I've got a new job to do on my A7, I'll take some pointers though from you Lee, ramps is a must by sounds of it although with access being better without a wheel I'll have to try both, flexible plyers needed and of course the new part and fresh coolant, thanks for the encouragement, was hilarious seeing the leak but I'll be in the same boat soon.

Capillary action plus coolant pressure helps it down the wiring some Vags suffer with coolant travelling up the coolant level switch wiring all the way to body control module damaging the wiring and modules so not a cheap repair if you don’t find coolant at the module can get away with cleaning pins and replacing the expansion bottle

I know this is a year or so old, but I have a 2012 Audi A7 with a very minor coolant leak. I can’t find it at all. About once a month I need to splash some in. What are the chances this part/system is causing the leak? I haven’t ever seen a puddle or much underneath. It’s the supercharged 3.0tfsi so also unsure if this issue is only on the rs7 v8? Should I just start fooling with shit or allow it to get worse so I know what I’m doing lmao

Hello mate! My Audi A6 C7 3.0 tdi with S- Tronic has been showing an error twice now. While driving completely normal and for example waiting on a red light on the dashboard appears a message “Gearbox overheating. Please adapt driving style.” Stays for 2-3 seconds and disappears. Car is driving perfect and changing gears perfectly( nothing worrying except the error on the dashboard) Can the problem be the valve that you are showing in the video? Did you have an error like this one? Thanks in advance!

Question…. Has this fixed your gearbox issue? I have a 2017 A7 DSG 7spd. I could smell coolant when driving. Audi diagnosed a leaking coolant shut off valve, quoting £1200 to do, mostly labour as sitting in the middle of the cylinder banks, the top of the engine needed stripping out to get to. On the day of the work, Audi said it was a water pump leak and changed that instead. The coolant smell continued and low coolant warning light still came on every 3-4 weeks. Took it back to Audi who then changed the coolant valve for free, 10/10 Audi for excellent customer service. My gearbox is now banging into 2nd from 3rd and 1st from 2nd. The gearbox malfunction light came up which I reset with Carley. Could this be from the coolant getting into that sensor and wiring? Be interested to know if your problem has gone from cleaning the connections.

Did you have a coolant leak prior to the electrical problems. I have a coolant leak and need to top it up every 2-3 weeks. I’m wondering whether this is due to the coolant control valve.
@Pwnulolumad
@Pwnulolumad 5 ай бұрын
You need to find out if the coolant is dripping on your driveway, or worse if it is going inside your crankcase with the oil. If intercooolers are leaking it will go into your injectors and sparks… don’t keep blindly adding coolant bro. Check your oil immediately for milkshake and run a test strip to see if there’s coolant in it. I had my PCV fail recently , noticed because I was missing nearly the entire reservoir , refilled once and it was gone in a day or two. Immediately parked it. Good luck man take care of your car now or it will be an expensive failure later
